Chernobog in Slavic mythology: the meaning of the symbol

Chernobog’s name alone speaks volumes about what spheres he commands. The ancient Slavs really considered him the dark ruler of the otherworldly kingdom - Navi, as well as the ruler of the most mysterious element - time. But this definitely shouldn’t be considered a “black” god. I would call his character ambiguous, because he could bring both death and salvation to people. Let's learn about the dark and light sides of the mysterious and powerful Chernobog.

Chernobog - the powerful dark god of the Slavs

Chernobog and Belobog: two hypostases of the Creator of the World

In the Russian Vedic tradition, God Rod is the unity of two opposites, who creates the world by dividing it into two parts of existence.

His light hypostasis is Belobog, who represents the forces of light and creative force that awakens to life, and the dark hypostasis of the Family is Chernobog, the ruler of the kingdom of darkness, and the destructive force of the universe, which is not a manifestation of evil forces, but is a necessary action of purification that precedes a new act creation of the world.

There is an opinion that Svarog and Lada came from Belobog, and Koschey and Mara from Chernobog. Also, the year is divided into two parts, which are controlled alternately by one force or another: the light part of the year occurs from May 1 to October 30, and the dark lasts from November 1 to April 30.

At the end of time, the destructive power of Chernobog dissolves the world and reunites with Belobog in the Unity of the Family until the next cycle of Creation, at the beginning of which their separation will occur again.

God Belobog among the Slavs: the meaning of the name

The creation of the world occurred from the primordial darkness, in which the first movement arose - thought, word, desire for creation. This is how the light came into being...

Belobog among the Slavs

- the god of life, light, warmth, day, birth, the beneficial power of creation, he is revealed as the personification of the knowing power of insight into the Truth, following the Right path. Belobog, in the ideas of our ancestors, is directly related to the Sun, the light and warmth of the Sun, and appears as an opposing force to darkness and cold.

In the cult of veneration of Belobog we find features that are characteristic of the Sun God: a white horse, a white falcon. Belobog is the Slavic god of fire and white light, creating, blazing with the light of revealed creation from the source of the universe. Light is movement in darkness, which is inertia, passivity, and does not exist outside of the observer.

It is also believed that the concept of Belobog as a source of light and a life-giving force that bestows blessings was transferred among the Slavs to Dazhbog and all the solar gods, his hypostases: Yarila, Khorsa, Kupala, Kolyada.

Holidays of the veneration of Chernobog

Celebrations among the ancient Slavs are directly related to the life cycle of the earth and natural elements. There was a cult of the sun. Our ancestors sought to induce favor mainly among the light gods.

They did not worship the patron of dark forces, but they feared him. To prevent him from causing harm, they tried to appease him through sacrifices. For this they used black animals - birds, horses. Rituals were held before the campaigns.

The day of veneration of Chernobog is the eve of the Kolyada holiday - April 14.

Chernobog Day is celebrated on the eve of the Slavic holiday Kolyada.

Belobog - Slavic God of fire and light

Why was this god called “White”? The God of Light is called Belobog because he is the personification of the White Light, which brought everything that exists to life. Abode of Belobog - Reality. This is the white light in which you and I live. A haven for our souls during our incarnate existence.

The very word “white” in Russian is consonant with words with the same meaning in many other languages. It is believed that the Old Russian word bly came from the Old Slavic - bълъ, bълі and the Common Slavic (reconstructed) belъ, and also goes back to the Indo-European basis bhel - “white”. By the way, in Sanskrit “white” sounds like balakṣa (बलक्ष).

Analogies with Belobog can be traced in the names of the following gods in different mythologies of the peoples of the world. In Celtic mythology, the supreme god is the god of light Belenus (ancient Celtic: Belenus, Belinus). In German-Scandinavian mythology, Baldag or Beldeg (bel + dag) is known - the god of light and white day.

A connection is possible with the god of spring and light Baldr (English: Baldr, Bealdor, Baldor), whose heavenly abode is filled with a dazzling radiance and does not allow the penetration of anything unclean. Also in Sumerian-Akkadian mythology, the supreme god, the personification of the heavenly body, is called Bel (Bel).

There is no doubt that the names of Belobog are similar to the god Belun, about whom a legend has been preserved in Belarus as the god of goodness and happiness, depicted as a gray-haired old man dressed in white robes as the personification of light. According to legends, he appears to travelers lost in the forest during the daytime and shows them the right path. He is also revered as the giver of fertility and wealth, which he scatters throughout the world, which is an allegory of the golden light of the sun, shining from heaven and giving life.

Belbog Day, also known as the Night of the Alive, - from April 30 to May 1

- when Chernobog hands over the reins of government to Belbog, the gates of Navi open wide that night, the line between the worlds becomes thinner, the bright god comes into his own.

Glorification of Belobog

Prayer to Belobog

ascends as a veneration of the White Light, the source of which is Belobog. All existence around us is a manifestation of God in its various forms. And this world would not have been revealed to our eyes if it had not been illuminated by the light of the Most High. Moreover, each of us is a particle of the primordial light of Ra, beating from the Source of the universe, awakened by the creative power of Belobog.

Glory to Belobog

you can say it every morning, greeting the rising Sun with the light that gives us all the blessings of life. Praises to the guardian of the Manifest World, Belobog, ascend to the most pure Svarga with an open, pure heart, without hidden self-interest, with gratitude and love for all that exists as a manifestation of God.

You can create glory to Belobog through prayers of praise dedicated to the solar gods, as a particle of the god Rod, who creates and protects our entire white light.

Glory to the Light God of God!

Greatly You shine, You illuminate Svarga!

Bring goodness to the world, Create the power of Life!

Glory to You! Glory in all worlds! Ohm

Symbol of Belobog: meaning for men and women

Symbol of Belobog

protects from everything that leads away from the Path those who follow the path of Rule, and whose fate is under the control of Belobog. The Belobog sign is a stylized solar symbol. He personifies the rotation of being, the world in the movement of active manifestation.

The Rune of Belobog, the meaning of which is light, happiness, joy, goodness, Love, helps everyone who follows the Right Path and gives confidence, supports in good aspirations and creative activities, helps to overcome obstacles and avoid mistakes that lead to the side of Falsehood.

“The truth was taken by God into heaven,

And Krivda all over the earth, all over the universe,

And she entered into evil people..."

(“The Pigeon Book”).

Through the power of the Belobog amulet, Belobog helps to recover and gain faith in oneself in order to overcome all adversity and troubles. Selfish tendencies are alien to all travelers of the Rule, therefore the symbol of Belobog should not be used by those who want to use it for selfish purposes, who are guided in life by selfish motivations.

He will not help such a person, but he will create lessons that will certainly guide him on the right path. However, the lessons of getting rid of egoism are always very painful and difficult to overcome for a consciousness that is not in harmony with the fundamental laws of the universe. Therefore, for the Ego such lessons will become a real punishment, but for the Spirit they will always be a blessing.

Chernobog among the Slavs is the great god Navi

“I am part of that force that always wants evil and always does good.”

Goethe. "Faust1".

Chernobog appears as the antipode of Belobog, representing the forces of destruction, darkness, night, cold and darkness, death. It is believed that while a person is in the darkness of ignorance, and also lives in fear, he serves Chernobog. The image of Chernobog is considered to be the bird Gogol or the black raven. In legends about the creation of the world, Chernobog appears in the form of a Gogol bird, swimming on the waves of the Okiyan sea, and diving to the bottom of it in order to get a lump of earth.

Chernobog

- this is a destructive fire, in which everything that is manifest burns and dissolves into non-existence, returning to the source. Black holes in space represent an unmanifested, as yet undisclosed existence, part of chaos. The Light of the creative power of God the Creator has not yet penetrated into this area of the Universe. Or this area just represents a collapsed existence...a completed life, an exit to Pralaya. One way or another, we can assume that this is a window into the world of Chernobog.

The meaning of the Chernobog rune

The symbol is an inverted world tree, which is why it is also called the Roots rune. The sign represents the other side of the world, the cycle of calm and chaos. The rune of Lutogod indicates the need to release energy, throw off shackles, and remove obstacles.

Common interpretations:

  • crucial moment;
  • a crisis;
  • inevitability;
  • rock, fate.

Slavic rune Chernobog.

Upright and inverted position

A straight rune indicates the release of the unconscious to the outside. It is necessary to pay attention to the situation that led to the use of magic and analyze its causes. It is recommended not to make hasty conclusions, but to carefully think through your upcoming actions.

The reverse (inverted) position indicates the presence of fears, self-doubt, and complexes. The owner of such a sign considers himself unworthy of happiness and does not influence the course of events in life.

Chernobog in Slavic mythology

Chernobog is a Slavic god who has always been revered along with Belobog. There is a legend about Chernobog, which says that once upon a time, in ancient times, the Age of Rule reigned on earth, and the goddess Marena was the wife of the Bright-Eyed Dazhbog. But she fell in love with Chernobog and rejected Dazhbog. Chernobog took her away from the heavenly palaces, and Dazhbog was defeated by him, and his solar chariot was broken.

Chernobog offered Dazhbog a choice: either to disappear forever and ever in the world of Navi and thereby deprive the manifest world of the White Light, or he will give strength to the world of Navi, and the world of Reveal will be illuminated by his chariot, on which Chernobog promised to attach the Shield of the Dazhbogs. Dazhbog chose the second option, so as not to deprive Reality of light.

But this imbalance did not last long. God Rod commanded Belobog to restore the disturbed balance of power and from now on forever maintain harmony in the universe. The wise Veles cut Chernobog in two (which is figuratively expressed in Chernobog’s amulet), and from now on he could not leave the confines of his Navya monastery for a long time. Thus ended the golden age on earth...

Chernobog Day among the Slavs, or the Night of Mary, - from October 31 to November 1

- when Belobog cedes his rights to Chernobog. Korochun is also dedicated to Chernobog - the day preceding the arrival of Kolyada, and celebrated on December 24.

This night is a prototype of the Night of great destruction, completing the next cycle of the existence of the world and opening the gates to a new stream of creative light, manifesting the Universe into existence and a new cycle of Creation. February 29 of each leap year is revered as the day of Chernobog, when his power returns to a person everything that was bad and unkind to him during the four previous years.

The meaning of the Chernobog symbol

Lutobog, like all Slavic symbols, has distinctive features.

The ancients believed that the world consists of 3 worlds - Reveal, Rule and Navi. The latter is the personification of the kingdom of the dark gods and the dead. Hence the name of Chernobog’s sign - Navnik.

For a long time it was placed on the graves and clothes of the deceased so that the deceased would not get lost in the afterlife. Later it began to be used by sorcerers and witches as evidence of the presence of magical abilities.

Chernobog – Slavic god of destruction and darkness

Chernobog is a name that means “Black God”, as the antipode of the “White God”. Why black? The black color itself is, in fact, the absence of color as such. Since it is the only one that does not reflect white light, it absorbs it, and therefore is considered not to emit, but to take energy, densifying it.

What is the etymology of the word "black"? In Old Russian “black” - črnъ, Old Church Slavonic - chrnъ, Polabian - cárne, Upper Sorbian - čornу, and Lower Sorbian - сarну. This is how it sounds in different Slavic languages: Slovak: čierna, Serbian: crn, Slovenian: črna, Czech: černá, Croatian: crna, Polish: сзарну.

In Proto-Slavic (reconstructed) - čьrnъ (čьрхнъ) or probably kьrsnъ, related to Old Prussian kirsnan (“black”). There is an opinion that the word “black” comes from the Sanskrit kṛṣṇa (कृष्ण), after simplification (sn became n) and reduction of syllables (b to e).

Symbol of Chernobog: meaning

The symbol of Chernobog among the Slavs - Navnik - is also a talisman, but for those who seek to get rid of everything superfluous and superficial, outdated and no longer bringing good, who wants to take the path of Rule and cleanse themselves of all selfish manifestations of their essence. The Chernobog sign is a stylized rune divided by a line in the middle.

Probably, in the life of every person such circumstances have arisen when something that they once desired is no longer needed, and on the Path becomes rather an obstacle. Then he decides to remove it from his life so that it no longer creates barriers and no longer creates the illusion of false values that once controlled his mind.

Chernobog will happily take these manifestations from your life - you just have to express your will, and boldly create the intention to say goodbye to such burdensome tendencies.

Symbol of Chernobog

is a protective amulet for all travelers, as well as travelers following the path of spiritual attainment. It will protect you from troubles and sudden, unforeseen misfortunes, removing the element of surprise from such situations. It helps to develop intuition and the ability to distinguish between falsehood and truth.

Prayer to Chernobog

Prayers are addressed to Chernobog when they want to get rid of something outdated, unnecessary and creating obstacles on the Path of spiritual development. There are various variations of appeals to Chernobog, here is one of them2:

God Cherne! Glory in the evening

In the night, in winter, in the starry blue!

In distant distances, in deep waters,

In cherished times, in innumerable mines,

In the cold, in the snow, in sleepy bliss!

Goy Mare Gozhe! Oh my God!

Prayers to Chernobog are also read in cases where they want to come to terms with the power of this side of existence, so that he does not cause harm and evil. However, it is important to understand that man is the creator of all the evil that he encounters in his life, and is completely responsible for everything that happens to him. Every lesson learned in life is for the benefit of our development and formation on the Path of evolution.

Therefore, complaining about fate and blaming the gods for injustice is the lot of an ignorant consciousness. The wise have comprehended the true meaning of existence and understand that every lesson is the result of the choice they made. A person has the freedom to choose how to perceive all the events and circumstances of his life: to cry at fate or to accept with dignity, with gratitude to a wise life, all the lessons that befall him.

Everything in our life happens according to the Will of God, manifested in a variety of forms. And to resist the vicissitudes of life and fight them means to resist the Divine will, thanks to which we are given only such lessons that lead us to improvement and spiritual growth. Therefore, prayers to the gods in times when we are faced with the hardships of life, to save and help us out of trouble, without proper acceptance and trust in life, are simply meaningless.

Everything that befell us is the result of “leveling” the imbalance we created. It is necessary to go through this and gain experience, and not hide from difficulties, like small children, begging and asking the gods for mercy and deliverance from an imaginary “punishment.”

Chernobog in fortune telling and magic

Darkness appears when something in a person’s life dies and is not destined to come true (relationships, goals, dreams). Runes and amulets with images are used by Slavic magicians and sorcerers in cases where it is necessary:

  • get rid of fears, anxiety, internal barriers;
  • gain confidence;
  • complete affairs and projects;
  • defeat the enemy;
  • establish protection from troubles and misfortunes.

Fortune telling for Chernobog:

  1. Business and work . The symbol indicates that things are going sluggishly and unpromisingly. It is necessary to activate internal energy, increase employee motivation, and be active in solving current issues. The reverse side of the sign encourages you to defend your own interests more often.
  2. Health . The direct rune indicates the need to pay attention to your well-being, and if you have diseases, urgently undergo a course of treatment and prevention. Reversed tells a person that he has incorrect information about the state of his health. It is worth re-diagnosis of the body.
  3. Love and relationships . The symbol indicates disagreements and domestic quarrels in a couple. At the same time, the partners remain honest with each other and try to overcome temporary difficulties together.
  4. Rune of the day . You should devote time to personal interests and the realization of desires.

Belobog and Chernobog: enemies or allies

“Between the gods of light and darkness, heat and cold, there is an eternal, never-ending struggle for dominion over the world.”

(Afanasyev A.N. “Poetic views of the Slavs on nature14”).

The very names of Belobog and Chernobog contain the essence of the division of existence into white and black, good and evil, light and darkness... The duality of worldview is what everyone who has embarked on the Path of spiritual improvement strives to escape. This is the nature of the mind - it cannot perceive this world without dividing it into parts.

To comprehend, it is necessary to divide the One into many components. Well, how could it be otherwise? Objective perception of the world through the senses indicates that this is how it is - the world is dual. There is day and night, birth and death, happiness and misfortune, truth and falsehood, peace and discord, pleasant and unpleasant, etc.

And only by dividing it can you know it. So at a certain stage of our evolution, such a worldview is quite acceptable and it contains hidden benefits for our development. The idea that there are two opposing principles in the world: good and evil (which are personified by Belbog and Chernobog, respectively) was inherent in almost all the beliefs of the world.

But at its core, the basis of most myths of all peoples is the eternal struggle not of good and evil, but of light and primordial chaos - the unmanifested part of the Universe, in which light awakens the hidden impulse to life and reveals it to existence.

It is believed that initially dualism in the worldview stemmed from the purely physical conditions of existence of any living creature, for which light and heat are the forces that support life, fertility, development and are, accordingly, good, while cold and darkness, bringing death and destruction, are contrary creative process - accordingly, a force hostile to light, destroying everything created.

And the moral traits of light and darkness, like good and evil, were assigned later. A similar dual worldview among the Slavs was entrenched in the images of two gods: Belobog and Chernobog as representatives of these opposing forces on earth. However, not everything is so clear...

“There is no evil that does not give rise to good.

And there is no good that does not bring evil.”

(Voltaire. “Zadig or Fate”).

Good and evil are relative concepts. Everything that hinders our spiritual ascent can be considered evil. It creates barriers to our evolution, and goodness, on the contrary, is what promotes it. There is darkness of ignorance, and this is “evil,” and there is light of wisdom, knowledge and knowledge, and this is the essence of “good.” But for each of us the deep essence of these concepts may differ. Therefore, statements about absolute evil or good are baseless.

The degree of light that we are able to discern in the darkness of ignorance is an indicator of our level of progress on the Path of evolutionary ascent. The path to light lies through darkness. Without comprehending the dark side of existence, the light side will not open.

Many people do not think about the meaning of the word “enlightenment.” But this also means the enlightenment of the mind, which was once in the darkness of ignorance.

In the world of Reveal, a person is in the middle of these two principles of the universe, combining in himself both the power of Chernobog and Belobog. At the current turn of the spiral of evolution, we are moving towards the Light, our task is the development of Consciousness through the refinement of matter and the ascension of energy. Everything that is contrary to this is “evil.” But once upon a time, staying in that part of existence was necessary for us for development and was “good.”

The immersion of our consciousness in the identifying factors of the material world was inevitable for the purposes of evolution, but this task has been completed, and now the evolutionary lessons for us are to free ourselves from these identifying networks that envelop our minds with rigid ideas about the world.

Ignorant worldview, self-identification, egoism are factors inhibiting our development. He who does not see the light of Truth, the radiance of the eternal and immense light has not yet opened to his unreadable eye, does not follow the path of Rule, for he does not know what is true and what is a lie.

Therefore, Belobog and Chernobog are not enemies of each other, for all manifested existence is based on their interaction. Darkness and light alternate, but they are always one whole.

Cosmological interpretation of the two forces of the universe

Belobog and Chernobog are also the energies of two forces: involutionary and evolutionary. Light is always a source that gives, radiates life. Darkness is a light-absorbing force, taking life, drawing it into itself, like a Black Hole in space. Chernobog personifies the involutionary force, the energy that brings us back, back.

While Belobog represents the flow of evolutionary ascent, this is the force that moves us forward, up the golden ladder of evolutionary ascent. On the involutionary turn of the spiral of existence, Chernobog pulls life towards compaction, and on this path the materialization of energy occurs. Here is the abode of Chernobog - dark Nav.

Everything that is familiar, outdated, static, passive, and inert reigns here. We ascend to the Light Rule through the abode of Belobog, the Path of evolution, spiritual improvement. Belobog leads to the refinement of dense energy, which is matter. For us, this area is still unknown, unknown, but the Divine Light of Goodness and Love illuminates the Path for us, not allowing us to fall into the already known and therefore familiar, but holding back our development, the inert world of Chernobog.

Unity of good and evil Belobog and Chernobog

– these two forces ensure the cyclical nature of all processes of the universe. It cannot be said that one force is bad and the other is good. It’s just that at a certain turn of the spiral of evolution or involution they fulfill their role: immersion in matter or refinement of matter, respectively.

Two

Now Yin and Yang in Russian.

Chernobog and Belobog are the first Sons of the Family and Its Highest Faces. Manifesting through the Essences of Chernobog and Belobog, the All-Existing Rod conceives at the Beginning of Time the creation from Nothing - Everything. With the dissolution of the Family in the Faces of Chernobog and Belobog, the Great Rotation in the World begins (and the World ITSELF too).

Chernobog is the personified Symbol of everything Secret, Beyond, Hidden, Unknown. He is the Symbol of Uncertainty, the Unknown, which frightens some immensely, and attracts others, awakening in them a passion for Knowledge. Belobog is the personification of everything Explicit, Defined, Clear, open to every inexperienced gaze. He is the Symbol of everything that is already known, already consciously...

Belobog and Chernobog - Gods - creators of the Universe. Two hypostases of the Family of the Almighty, directly related to the Manifested World, its creation, arrangement, maintenance and destruction. Belobog and Chernobog are not “Light” and “Darkness” in the anthropomorphic understanding of the meaning of these words, that is, Belobog and Chernobog are not limited to the duality of “good” - “bad”. Rather, they can be likened to day and night, replacing each other in a natural rhythm. Belobog patronizes Reveal - the World of the Day, the Solar - the World of the Living. Chernobog patronizes Navi - the Night World, the Underground - the World of the Dead. But, just as death is not “evil,” so for someone who lives in harmony with the World and according to the Laws of Rule (which extend to both Reality and Nav), Chernobog is not some kind of “evil god.”

Where Rod as Itself is the Source, as well as Being, consisting of Life (Belobog) and Death (Chernobog).

Belobog and Chernobog are in constant struggle with each other: daylight dims in the approaching twilight, and the darkness of the night is dispelled by the morning dawn; Sadness is replaced by joy: after cruelty and envy comes the time of selfless and good deeds. The first god was depicted as a wise, gray-bearded and gray-haired old man, the second - as an ugly, skeletal “koshchei”. However, Belobog and Chernobog were revered equally. In Pomerania there is a mountain called Belobog. In Poland these are places such as Bialobozhe and Bialobozhnitsa, in the Czech Republic - Belozhitsa, in Ukrainian Galicia - Belbozhnitsa. Near Moscow, next to Radonezh, there was a sanctuary of Belobog, and in Kostroma the Orthodox Trinity-Beloboga Monastery retained in its name the name of the ancient god of light and heat.

This god was especially revered in Belarus, where he was called Belun. Here they believed that a gray-bearded old man who looked like a sorcerer would definitely bring home a person lost in the forest. In a happy moment, Belarusians said: “It’s like I made friends with Belun.” Or: “It’s dark in the forest without Belun.”

Some researchers see Belobog as a symbol of the Aryan faith, and Chernobog as Shiva the Destroyer. Others note that Belobog wore a white dress with black patches, and Chernobog wore all black, but with white patches on his clothes. This is exactly what the eastern symbols of Yin and Yang look like - two forces that, replacing each other, move the world in the eternal cycle of black and white existence. The World of Revealing is a field of eternal battle, a place of testing for people. Only the heavens of Rule are free from Darkness, and Nav does not know the Light.

The brothers Belobog and Chernobog follow a person everywhere and write down all his deeds, good and evil, in the books of fate. Later they were replaced by a guardian angel standing behind the right shoulder, and a devil behind the left.

Three

In Hinduism: Trimurti is a triad that unites the three main deities of the Hindu pantheon (Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Guardian and Shiva the Destroyer) into a single whole, representing the spiritual principle - Brahman. The very concept of trimurti is often interpreted as a triune deity.

What do we have, what does our Ve-Ra tell us?

Our ancestors imagined the world as three-part, consisting of matter - the manifest world, the material world - Reveal ; spirit - the otherworldly world, invisible and not felt, where Gods and ancestors live, as well as the souls of those who have not yet been born, in modern terminology - “subtle world”, “field”, “information”, “noosphere” - Navi ; and Rules - laws according to which both worlds coexist and are in constant interaction. Reality stems from Navi and exists according to the laws of the Rule. Everything that is outdated and destructive returns again to Nav for “remelting,” like old iron in a blast furnace. A natural self-regulating system of the Universe, in which, obeying the Unified Law, all subsystems included in it function.

Visually, this system can be represented in the form of an energy torus - an endless spiral rotation flowing from the peripheries to the center, continuing to move in its invisible inner part, so that, having emerged from oblivion, it begins to move from the center to the outskirts, where everything will repeat all over again.

By the way, in many ancient cults this principle is denoted by a Kolovrat or a swastika.

There is a feeling that the ancestors had some kind of their own theory of elementary particles, and, perhaps, more harmonious than the one being developed today.

The idea of a three-part world was expressed in the image of the Great Triglav (Trinity).

Svarog (Sanskrit svrsa - “sky”, “heavenly radiance”) Supreme God, Creator and Creator. The source of all things. He created, “bungled” the world. Therefore, Svarog in the sign of Triglav is indicated in blue in the diagram.

Perun is the God of Fire, Lightning, cosmic Energy, which moves the world and transforms the Universe. Indicated by yellow light.

Svetovid (from “light” and “to see”, that is, manifested energy) is the God of Light, thanks to whom people become familiar with the world around them. Light gives warmth and life, which is why Svetovid is indicated by green light.

First of all, it should be noted that the Great Triglav is a reflection of the three seasons, the three seasons that existed among the Slavic-Aryans in ancient times: this is the time of agricultural work (spring), the time of ripening and harvesting (covered summer and autumn) and the time of rest of the earth (winter ).

In this natural cycle, the Lord of Spring is Svetovid. At this time, everything awakens, green grass appears - a symbol of life. That’s why Svetovid’s color is green. Perun is responsible for the element of Fire - he is a solar god, his season is Summer, and his color is yellow. Svarog is the god of Heaven, which is why he is blue. And this is also the color of Navi, from which Svarog created Reality according to the law of Rule. Among the seasons, Navi corresponds to Winter.

The images of ancient Slavic philosophy are multidimensional, and therefore the Great Triglav under consideration has a number of other functions. This symbol also captures the three main elements revered by our ancestors - AIR - FIRE - EARTH, which are indicated by the same blue-yellow-green tricolor.

Svarog, as is already known, corresponds to the color blue or blue; this is the color tonality of Heaven and Navi, where the Gods and souls of the deceased Ancestors, who became the Perunichs and Svarozhichs, live. Maintaining contact with their relatives who remained on earth, they come to the rescue in difficult times, giving wise advice in dreams, or “materializing” in the images of birds, animals, and people. In difficult hours of war, they descend in whole armies from the clouds to the ground and help defeat enemies. Therefore, the Slavs always honor their “Navi” relatives and turn to them in prayers with words of requests and gratitude. If we build a bridge to the modern worldview, isn’t this a connection, as we say, with the Noosphere?

So, Svarga is the atmosphere and noosphere, the physical air that one breathes, and the spiritual air that feeds souls and thoughts. As a sign of respect for Svarog, as well as for deceased relatives staying in Navi, the Slavs wore an earring with a blue stone in their left ear. Prince Svyatoslav, who honored the precepts of Vedic Rus', had such an earring.

The fire god Perun is also multidimensional. On the one hand, he throws fiery arrows and strikes enemies with a fiery lightning sword, blinding them with sparks and unbearably bright light. At this moment he takes on the face of Indra - the formidable merciless Warrior God. However, for his Slavic children he is the Protector and often acts, like Perun-Vergunets, as the patron of the harvest. Cutting through the clouds with a sword, he sheds beneficial rain on the fields. The first morning prayer that the Slavs performed was dedicated to Dawn, that is, the rising Sun-Surya and Perun, with the sparks of which the housewives kindled their fire in the morning. The color of Perun ranges from yellow to orange-red, corresponding to the color of fire. And therefore Perun can be indomitable and affectionate, sizzling hot and simply a cozy home fire on which food is cooked. The flame itself is in charge of the Fire God, but it is ignited by Perun, the heavenly blacksmith, the Master who forges swords and fans the crucible. It was his heavenly fire that the Glory Bird brought to the Proto-Slavs on its wings.

Thus, Perun is the solar god, the god of summer, heat, light, fire - everything associated with the active yellow-orange spectrum.

Svetovid is the element of Earth. This is rebirth, spring, green grass, the awakening of all living things. Green is the color of life. It is in the spring that the Slavs celebrate the wedding of Father Svarog and Mother Earth (Proteva), whose children they are, sing songs, rejoice, and throw wreaths woven from flowering herbs to Svarga.

And the Earth, fertilized by the Heavenly Bull of Svarog, who shed silver rains into its bosom, begins a new life, bearing it in the womb, so that by autumn it will give birth to fat fruits and generous earthly gifts.

The element of Earth is inextricably linked with the element of Water and is its integral component, since rivers flow through it, lakes extend on it, seas and oceans adjoin it, and rains pour on it.

Svarog and Earth look into the water to be prolific, and give birth to a son - Vergunets-Perun, who connects Heaven and Earth, since he is the ruler of Fire and Water.

And when Heat and Dryness come, then Mother Earth comes, raising her hands to the heavenly abysses, and begs her son to send rain. Vergunets sheds beneficial streams on the parched Earth, and it becomes saturated with moisture and produces a harvest. Or Svarog himself sends rain to the Ognishchansky fields, stroking his long white beard.

In Indo-European mythology there is also a similar balance of power: Dyaus (god of Heaven) and Prithivi (Earth) have a son Parajanya (Perun).

Due to the fact that Mother Earth is a nurse and a birth giver, she is sacred. For her, the Russian Slavs shed blood on the battlefields, defended her, cherished her and glorified her.

The Slavs considered themselves children of the Sun, children and grandchildren of the gods of Light: Svarog, Dazhdbog, Perun, Yar, Kupala, Svetovid. And “for those who are children of the Sun, green grass is a sign of God. And we must collect it in vessels and pour it on our Sun in order to drink it to the glory of the gods, who resides in the blue Svarga.”

This ritual of creating and drinking suritsa organically combined the veneration of the three already mentioned elements, as the embodiment of the Great Triglav. Green grass was collected in vessels, poured with honey and water and left to ferment in the sun for three days. The Slavs drink ready-made surya, praising the gods who reside in the blue Svarga.

The trinity Svarog - Perun - Svetovid was sometimes replaced by the trinity Svarog - Perun - Dazhdbog, which in its earthly incarnation was called Did-Oak-Sheaf. At the same time, Did (Svarog) was blue, Oak (Perun) was green, and Sheaf (Dazhdbog) was yellow. Apparently, this is a more ancient Trinity, and although here Oak (Perun) moves into the green spectrum, and yellow is occupied by Sheaf (Dazhdbog or Veles), the general color scheme of the trinity remains the same: blue - green - yellow.

On the territory of Southern Rus' (mainly modern Ukraine), the Slavs have long revered Svarog - Perun - Dazhdbog and, accordingly, their manifestations in blue-yellow-green. Over time, the green color was somehow lost (obviously, after the sacred Perunov Dubrava-Bogolesye were cut down), and now, instead of the Great Triglav, the Ukrainian banner features a “yellow-blakyt” two-color.

Color scheme “Real - Rule - Nav”.

Reality is expressed as “white light”, the surrounding world, the element in which Svetovid and Belobog reign, therefore it has a white color, the color of purity, joy and peace.

Rule symbolizes the basic law of the universe on which Reality is based. Rule is the moral, qualitative and ideological principles that guided our ancestors. Among Zoroastrians, the law and order on which the universe is based is called Asha. This order is based on sincerity, honesty and justice. So in Slavic Vedism, Rule in absolute terms is Truth, the knowledge of which makes it possible to “overcome dark forces” and “leads to good.” The Slavs are led along the path of Rule primarily by Perun, “the god of Rule and Reveal,” who is the “Highest Court and Honor,” “merciful and all-righteous.” He watches over the fulfillment of this law, for only observance of the Rule is a condition for development from the scale of the Universe to a person and a small blade of grass, for “Reveal on the Rule as if planted on a solid rock.”

Therefore, on one of the 12 doors in the temple of Svetovid, Perun is depicted with scales, for he administers just justice. Our ancestors always held court under the Oak, the tree of Perun. The Path of Rule is the Milky Way, which shines in the sky with a scattering of stars. It was often necessary to fight and shed blood for the Rule. But he who sheds blood gains eternal life in Iria and eternal glory, and this glory is beautiful! That is why Rule is red, the color of sacred blood, the color of heroism, valor and beauty, the color of fire and truth.

Nav is a symbol of Winter and Darkness, of what exists before and after Revealing. This is the transcendental “that world” where they go after death and become “new” people. Navi's color is blue (even purple). This is the color of magic, mystery, sleep, the color of the past and the future.

It is no coincidence that in most Slavic powers the symbol of statehood is the white-red-blue tricolor (Russia, Yugoslavia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia). These colors express Reality, Rule and Nav, the fundamental principles of Existence in the philosophy of our ancestors.

It is known that darkness is usually associated with the color black, but among the Slavs it is blue, since their religious and philosophical view was dialectical and life-affirming. They knew that Reality naturally flows from Navi and goes back to Nav, just as spring comes after winter and autumn comes again. This solar life-affirming principle corresponds to a golden background on which the Great Triglav is depicted.

In this bright symbol, you can even see a schematic image of an atom with electrons moving in orbits (microcosm). And in the macrocosm it is a model of the entire world in which matter (Reality), information, field (Nav) and the energy of the Spirit of Light (Rule) exist.

Foreign chroniclers considered Triglav one of the numerous host of Slavic gods, not realizing that this most important symbol expressed the very essence of our ancient faith: God is one, but he has many manifestations.

The great secret of Triglav, the inextricable trinity Svarog - Perun - Svetovid, is that “God is both one and multiple,” and Svarog can simultaneously manifest himself as Perun, and as Svetovid, and as other Triglavs Great and Small. Inextricable unity and interflow - this is the essence of the Great Triglav, interacting with the substances Reveal - Rule - Navi, which were the fundamental principles of existence among the ancient Slavic-Aryans. “Holy Trinity” Reality - Rule - Nav: Matter - Energy - Information.

Svarog in the Great Triglav is the Cosmic Mind, Perun is the driving force of the Universe, and Svetovid is its Spirit and Life.

Therefore, the symbol of the Great Triglav is a sign of Eternity, Infinity and the Universal Unity of all Things!
