Chernobog (Black Snake) is the main antagonist of Yasunya in the mythology of the ancient Slavs. Originally considered an allegory of everything dark in the world and man, he was never given idols or revered.
Chernobog was born in the impenetrable darkness of the Navya depths after Svarog forged the universe in the Heavenly Forge. He had neither father nor mother, only shadows, and the echoes of the most secret desires of the first living beings became his parents. He appeared in the world as the embodiment of absolute evil, as a conciliar spirit of the most cruel human instincts and dark sparks of divine radiance. And Chernobog had no other goal other than destruction.
Place in the Pantheon
Our ancestors depicted Chernobog as a huge basilisk - a monstrous black snake with a human torso, arms and face. At the same time, myths attribute outstanding werewolf abilities to this creature. That is, Chernobog at different times can be either a black raven, an ancient gray-haired old man, or a radiant young man. But in any guise, Chernobog hates the light of Yarila the Sun, this is his only weak point. Otherwise, he is actually not inferior to any of the High Gods. It is not for nothing that during the Initial Battle of Chernobog it was possible to defeat only the joint forces of the Svarozhichi - Semargl, Stribog. and Dazhdbog.
All Navi's creatures obey Chernobog - dark spirits, adders, manticores, basilisks and other evil spirits. This god has unique abilities in terms of magic, which, combined with immeasurable physical strength, makes him an extremely dangerous creature. Chernobog brought into the world such characters of ancient Russian folklore as Viy, Koschey and Goryn Zmeevich. “Brought” in the literal sense, since only a few later myths mention that all of the listed creatures are the children of Chernobog. The most ancient legends say that Chernobog himself, apparently, does not belong to this world. She arrived here from other realities (or from the wrong side of our reality), and subsequently brought several more dark entities with her. There is a lot of debate about this among modern esoteric researchers, and at the moment there is no clear answer.
More about the rune
One way or another, Chernobog is a clear allegorization of the dark side of the personality of each of us. She is incredibly strong, she is practically invincible, she leads to destruction. Precisely to destruction, and not to chaos, since chaos seemed to our ancestors as a category of a slightly different order. And destruction is regression, withering, stagnation, crisis. On this score, the Slavs had the Viy (or Viya) rune, the Need rune and the Source rune (in the dark aspect). Taken together, they symbolize the main characteristic feature of the Black Snake - its desire for the absolute decomposition of the Universe.
On the other hand, among the Slavic runes you can find the Chernobog rune, which in its meaning does not have a single drop of negativity. This rune in the scenario speaks of breaking out of a closed (possibly magical) circle, of breaking the darkness and breaking any fatal chains. If the fortuneteller saw this rune in the layout, then we can talk about a uniquely successful solution to the problem.
Thus, Chernobog, for all its negativity, has another ambiguous aspect. After all, destruction can sometimes be beneficial. In addition, shadow, as we know, is an essential component of the world. This is the first thing. And secondly, there is no shadow when there is no light, that is, at night all objects take on their natural, original appearance. That is why Chernobog was called the lord of shadows, but not the lord of the night or anything like that. His strength did not grow under the Moon, as the popular story goes. After all, moonlight is reflected sunlight, so hated by Chernobog.
Chernobog is the second rune of the Slavic (Vendish) 18-rune series, which is also called the Shadow rune, the Reflection rune, the Roots rune. If we turn to the symbolism of the outline of this rune, then we see the same World Tree, as in the case of the World rune, but here its lower part is depicted, not the upper. That is, Roots, not Crohn's. What is more important is a question as stupid as it is ignorant to believe that Chernobog is a manifestation of world evil. He is more of a classic trickster, similar to Loki from Norse mythology.
Chernobog and Belobog constitute the basic dual principle of the Universe; later this definition was embodied in many methods of European esotericism. In particular, in alchemy, this same dual pair is represented by the Red Queen (gray) and the White King (mercury). In the case of Chernobog, it would be very appropriate to quote the lines that one rather curious, let’s say, near-Slavic work puts into the mouth of Chernobog himself: “one should not confuse the dark with the dirty.” Shadow is as natural an element of the surrounding world as light. This is an opposing vector, a wind that blows in your face and makes you fight, hardens you, makes you stronger. This is a vital necessity that determines the principle of improvement of each individual.
Comparison with other runes
And if the World rune means “super-ego”, then the Chernobog rune is a completely unambiguous “sub-ego”, that is, “subconscious”, the world of instincts, almost animal basic urges, impulses. And here it is worth returning to the outline of the rune. The roots of a tree form its basis, no matter how powerful the trunk is, no matter how spreading and beautiful the crown is, if the roots are weak, the tree will be destroyed at the first storm. Moreover, without a strong root system, a tree will never produce good fruit. The roots of the World Oak, Yggdrasil, as the ancient Scandinavians would say, are the basis of the Universe, its foundation, which exists where there is no light from time immemorial. A person also comes to this world full of the brightest colors from another world - dark and completely incomprehensible, but is that bad?
In the most general sense, the Chernobog rune is liberation, a way out of a difficult situation, the destruction of the old for the sake of the new. This is a bright, powerful, dynamic burst of energy. The Chernobog rune shows us our inner essence and allows us to push away from it, striving upward towards development and progress. This is what creates us, shapes us, makes us better.
Chernobog's place in the pantheon of Slavic gods
Chernobog is the lord of the forces of darkness in Slavic mythology.
Black God (Chernobozhe, Temnovit, Lutobog, Zlebog) is a creature that brings misfortune, chaos and destruction.
According to mythology, Rod (Creator) created two opposite sides:
- Belobog - light, day, health, goodness. Accompanying people in business and endeavors, bringing prosperity.
- Chernobog - darkness, night, disease, evil. He sowed chaos, contributed to the completion of various processes, the transition of a person to another world, and patronized magic.
The patron saint of Navi occupies a high position in the divine hierarchy of the Slavs, surpassing Perun, Svarog and Veles in power.
Our ancestors were afraid of death and manifestations of darkness, but, understanding the need for balance in the world, they revered the deity.
General meaning in fortune telling
Chernobog direct
There comes an awareness of the essence of what is happening, the roots of the situation and situation - why you need this and how it affects you. The importance of immediate results disappears, and the implementation process becomes the main thing. And how you feel in it, who you become. Evaluation of the actions of others becomes more realistic, often slightly cynical in terms of understanding what these people really want. And when they offer their help - in order to receive gratitude, and when they advocate for universal happiness - in order to compensate for their own complexes, and so on.
Now is the ideal time to put everything in its place, define roles for the people around you and build achievable business prospects. Do not forget about the one-order runes - Strength and Belbog.
You should participate in the surrounding processes, taking into account the goals and desires of the people around you, building your implementation in such a way that these people benefit (at least perceived as such). Think about close associates, successors, children, successors of your work - people who are truly devoted to the work, and to you, who see in it what you do. And here “Black God’s cynicism” is not applicable, or rather, ineffective.
Chernobog inverted
You hit it hard. Your guilt and inferiority complex, your lack of self-confidence and fear of the future have played a cruel joke on you. You decided to give all the fruits of your labors to someone, to everyone, you decided to transfer responsibility for the future of the business to someone - from man to God. And leave yourself the role of a modest performer, receiving a minimum of benefits. You are too concerned about the salvation of all humanity, forgetting that the salvation of the soul is a deeply individual and intimate process; and that saving the souls of others is a disservice to both them and yourself. You need to save yourself! You were given the opportunity to feel free from complexes and become an adult, self-sufficient person. And you once again decided that “being happy alone is reprehensible. Let everyone be happy, then I will be happy too!” It's a lie. First, “good” for you does not mean “good” for others. Secondly, if you give them something, you will not get anything back. Danko's heart was crushed under a dirty foot - along with the hand that gave it.
If you are overcome by a fit of altruism, turn to the Strength rune and think: are you being used? Are old situations not being repeated? Aren't you five years old now? And you distribute to the entire kindergarten group a small bag of sweets given to you for your birthday? And no one else gives out, you never get a reward...
Analyze yourself and people very seriously, and only if after this the message of altruism remains, and you do not lose or affirm your usefulness thanks to this action, only then give!
Charms and amulets Chernobog
Navnik is rightfully considered a symbol of Chernobog. Its outlines resemble those of Belobog, but the structure of the skull is completely different.
Reference: in the Chernobog talisman one can clearly see the relationship with his twin brother.
Such an amulet provides the opportunity to provide maximum protection against numerous misfortunes and bad weather, in particular, the evil eye and envy.
To be able to feel the full power of the amulet, it is enough that a person is ready to completely rely on God and provide him with the opportunity to give the necessary advice in order to solve problems that arise.
Interpretation of runes in a business reading
Straight
Its correct interpretation depends on the runes present nearby. Sometimes he talks about the right type of activity. You know how to do business and have an inner instinct. In some cases, it speaks of a conspiracy that is unfolding around your person. Most likely, business partners are playing a double game and passing on some information to direct competitors. All the facts will soon become known: most likely the traitor is a person from close circle.
Inverted
You are surrounded by many mysteries and secrets. Answers to all questions can only be obtained if the runes surrounding Chernobog are known. Don't be afraid to find out the truth: the news will come as a surprise, but it will not have a negative meaning. An alternative interpretation of the layout tells you about an incorrectly chosen profession or occupation. You do not have enough experience to perform such work, and therefore it is best to turn your attention to other professions.
Chernobog photo
Our ancestors represented Chernobog in different guises. In general, he was credited with the ability to become a werewolf.
His strength was quite enough to at one moment turn into an evil snake or become an elusive black raven, a fast black wolf.
In any case, it is necessary to understand that all the images that Chernobog could try on himself were vile in appearance and carried passion in those around him. However, some references indicate that the god was able to take the form of something beautiful.
Whether this is true or not, one can only guess.
Interpretation in a career scenario
Straight position
For career plans, Chernobog indicates the need to review all your affairs and business connections. What a person is doing now, what he considers the essence of his activity, is petty and unpromising. And this needs to be clearly understood, because otherwise it will be completely pushed aside, overwritten by more efficient, quick-witted, punchy people. However, here it is important not to go to the other extreme and not scare away those who are sincerely devoted to him or are ready to cooperate. So, the presence of Chernobog in the layout indicates that the main task in this case is to understand the motives driving those around you. For this will make it possible to carry out an objective “cleansing of the ranks” of those with whom one has to deal in the course of their activities. And, of course, decide on your own motivation. If, during fortune telling, Chernobog fell together with Support, it means that the runes recommend resorting to suitable auto-training methods to improve your business personal qualities; if Perun is nearby, then this symbolizes the need to stop doubting that you are right and being tormented by doubts. The presence of the Source rune in the layout should suggest that you need to step back, stop actively interfering in any affairs, leaving this to others; At this time, observe both people and events yourself, analyzing them and drawing useful conclusions for yourself.
Inverted position
Chernobog in an inverted form calls: down with compliance and understanding! Nobody will appreciate this. The fortuneteller will be taken advantage of by those around him, moreover, shamelessly and ungratefully. And at this time he himself will begin to fall further and further behind, lose, give up positions, energetically creating the image of a loser and a weakling. It's time to make a career for yourself, not for others. The latter is especially true if the Yes rune is also paired with an inverted Chernobog. On the other hand, such a rune may mean that a person is overcome by doubts about his own abilities. He may be afraid to take on responsibility, additional responsibilities, etc. You need to try to get rid of these fears, because later it turns out that they were all unfounded. Moreover, when during fortune telling Dazhdbog appears next to the inverted Chernobog, this predicts that greater responsibility or new responsibilities will also bring considerable material benefits.
Love and relationships
Straight position
For such scenarios, Chernobog is interpreted as the ability to see human nature without embellishment, without exaggerating its merits, as a tendency to break off relationships as soon as a feeling of their futility arises, as a lack of flexibility and tact.
The rune can be interpreted as a crisis period in a relationship, which forces one to move to a qualitatively new level with pain and loss. This is difficult, uncomfortable, however, it indicates that the person (or even both partners - depending on the issue in the situation) is characterized by honesty in relationships. True, few people are able to appreciate this character trait, because the truth very often turns out to be too upsetting or humiliating for the second partner. But in this way, the fortuneteller himself saves himself from many difficulties associated with the need to play a role that is not his own. This situation is especially fully demonstrated by the pair Chernobog-Strength: here we have to talk not just about the tendency to cut from the shoulder, but about complete categoricalness in relations with the opposite sex. The Wind rune that fell next to Chernobog means the usual frivolity and unwillingness to think about how offensive or difficult the partner feels at such moments.
Inverted position
In this case, Chernobog should first of all be interpreted as uncertainty in one’s own attractiveness, unwillingness to fight for a loved one. In addition, the rune can mean a person’s willingness to be an arbiter in all controversial issues. At the same time, basically the same typical situation develops - those quarreling make peace, and the “mediator” who reconciled them is appointed guilty, and both sides look askance at him. However, it is unlikely that the fortuneteller is inclined to draw the proper conclusions from this.
An inverted rune in a certain context can be perceived as advice to become a little tougher, more selfish, and to love one’s own person. After all, you can’t just love someone and allow them to exploit your feelings; sometimes you need to create conditions for this “someone” to also love you and begin to take care of you. In a pair with Treba, Chernobog, which fell upside down, suggests that you need to give in to something to your partner only if it is guaranteed to bring positive “dividends”. And the combination of the rune with Bereginya suggests that one should not perceive one’s problems in one’s personal life as tragic, because one day a person’s shortcomings will turn into advantages, and his compliance and responsiveness will be appreciated quite highly.
Interpretation in a health scenario
Straight
Your health may soon deteriorate. Your fears about a known disease may be true. Now is not the time to panic: you need to clearly understand the current situation and take control of it. You need to put everything on hold and take care of your own health. Visit the best doctor in your city, do not skimp on quality examinations and modern medications. Remember all the health problems that occurred this month and report them to your doctor. Every little thing matters. All of the above predictions will not come true if the layout contains runes with a positive meaning.
Inverted
They hide the true state of your health from you. Perhaps your loved ones don’t want to upset you and don’t tell you the correct diagnosis. Or, during the examination, a monstrous error crept into the data. The presence of runes with a positive value in the layout can improve the forecast. A dangerous disease will turn out to be a common cold, or it will not be confirmed at all during a more thorough examination. Do not put pressure on the doctor and demand immediate results. Give doctors time to study the data obtained and conduct a comprehensive analysis. May also report female infertility. Sometimes responsible for the male ability to conceive offspring.
Chernobog and Belobog Slavic concept of balance
The culture and beliefs of our ancestors are imbued with amazing harmony. Chernobog and Belobog became a reflection of the unique interpretation of the path of life. Both deities embody bright opposites - death and life.
Slavic culture is characterized by a positive perception of reality. Chernobog rules over the world of Navi, the abode of the departed. However, he cannot be perceived as the embodiment of evil. Death was perceived by our ancestors as another transitional state. In the afterlife, people continued to lead an existence that differed only in some respects from their usual way of life.
Belobog acts as the guardian of life and the light of knowledge of existence. He watches over every living creature, protecting and guiding them to their intended path. Both gods are in an eternal confrontation, which is destined to last for all eternity. Harmoniously intertwined, the two principles revive what the Rod has created, multiplying and pushing for development.
Personal and relationships with loved ones and loved ones
Straight
There is an understatement in your relationship. It is quite possible that the girl you love is hiding her pregnancy, or that your loved one has not told you about his family. A married couple who was planning the birth of a baby can hope for a positive outcome of conception. An alternative interpretation of the alignment indicates that a loved one has problems with the law. Perhaps he is embroiled in a lengthy process of dividing property or is trying to divorce an unloved woman. It is also possible that they are hiding the presence of a child from you. It may also be a sign of the influence of dark forces. You have been damaged or exposed to a love potion.
Inverted
The partner with whom you want to connect your future life belongs to another family, or plans to get engaged soon. An alternative interpretation of the alignment is news related to your loved ones. If a loved one reports pregnancy, then most likely it is a lie. In this way they are trying to tie you in marriage. Don't worry, everything secret will soon become clear.
The meaning of the Chernobog rune and its interpretation
So, if the World rune is connected with Belobog, then here all attention is given to Chernobog. The patron of this symbol is the trickster god, the Clown god, the Jester god, constantly striving to destroy the order established by Belobog. Here you can trace the similarities with the famous Scandinavian god Loki. It is natural that the symbol in question is also called the Reflection or Shadow rune.
The duality of the entire Universe can be represented in the pair Belobog-Chernobog. It turns out that the World rune means Order and the conscious, and Chernobog is Chaos, the hidden area of the subconscious, without which, by the way, the existence of the Universe would be impossible. This is the paradox of this confrontation.
In this case, it cannot be said that Belobog is an unambiguously good being, and Chernobog is the embodiment of universal evil. In no case. Both of these essences represent light and shadow, the harmonious combination of which leads to the strengthening of the universe.
Thanks to the Chernobog rune, a person can free himself from illusions, release the unconscious and behave unpredictably. It is this kind of freedom that allows a person, like the Fool of the Tarot, to break through the vicious circle of Order.
Protective properties of the Chernobog rune
Despite the fact that Chernobog is associated with destruction, without chaos there would never be order. And how can you see the Light if there is no Darkness around? In addition, on a bright day, many objects are hidden in the shadows, and at night, when the Sun
hidden behind the horizon, they appear in their true form. Protective amulets with his image bestow courage and invincibility in battle. It doesn’t matter what kind of battle it is. Victory will still be yours.
Rune can help you:
- Gain confidence in your own abilities and get rid of fear of the future
- Understand the laws of the modern world and clearly understand the forces that influence fate
- Unleash inner abilities and activate dormant reserves
- Bring all started projects to their logical conclusion
- Enjoy ordinary life and forget about minor troubles.
Corresponding stone and its properties
Hematite. This stone can bring good luck and happiness in family life. It has magical properties and can improve thought processes. An amulet made from this mineral is ideal for students and people who engage in intellectual work. The amulet can be worn on the hand in the form of a hematite ring. It is highly recommended to combine this mineral with a silver frame. Hematite protects against gunshot wounds and stray bullets, and therefore all ancient commanders and great warriors wore it.
The corresponding plant and its properties
- Yew - this plant is charged with inexhaustible energy and vitality. A yew amulet improves the body's defenses, increases stamina, purifies the blood and strengthens the immune system. This stone is indicated for people suffering from allergic reactions. The ancient sages were sure that a yew amulet could increase life expectancy. It can increase the level of aggression, and therefore it is not recommended to use amulets for people with unstable psyches.
- Mandrake - this plant provides protection from evil forces, slander and curses, and protects from the negative influence of other people. Traders and merchants wore amulets made from this plant: mandrake helped to conclude successful deals and protected against scammers. There is a belief about the root of this plant: if you place it in a bag of money, then by morning the number of coins will double. Amulets made from this tree attract material wealth and well-being.
