Rune of Odin, or empty rune, is the most controversial of the Futhark runes: discussions about it are still ongoing among practitioners of runic magic, who can be divided into 2 camps: some recognize it, while others do not. The fact is that the very idea of introducing such a symbol into Futhark arose recently. An empty rune is the absence of any sign, or empty space, a gap. Therefore, it acquires meaning only in runic layouts. In a runic set, it looks like a die or stone on which nothing is applied, leaving it absolutely clean.
The Odin Rune, or Empty Rune, is the most controversial of the Futhark runes.
The Odin rune was added to the Elder Futhark in our century by the American researcher and writer Ralph Bloom. His book “Rune Magic” was one of the best books for esotericists on this topic, published in the 90s. Bloom believed that the Odin rune had always been part of the futhark, but was not mentioned, and gave it a special meaning associated with divine intervention. He also called it “rune vird”. The Odin rune is also called the rune of fate; its creator, Ralph Blum, believed that it introduces a moment of uncertainty and intervention of higher, superhuman forces into the futhark. Another famous researcher of the Northern Tradition, Kenneth Meadows, gave this sign the name “rune of Fate” and considered it a sign of creative power that takes a person beyond the boundaries of the ordered world. This has some similarities with the zero lasso of the Tarot - the Fool. This is an unexpected coincidence of circumstances, a person entering a special space where neither people nor aces have power. It is possible that this is exactly the place from where Odin “raised” or obtained runic signs to make them the property of all people.
What are Sigrdriva groups
In its classic form, futhark is shown as a table with three rows and eight columns. The rows are called ettas, and the columns are called Sigrdriva groups. The latter help to interpret runes during fortune telling. The following groups exist:

- Thoughts (Vunyo, Soulu, Otila) - help transform experience into actions, contribute to the acquisition of wisdom.
This division helps when creating magical inscriptions, attempting to create talismans similar to those used by the Vikings. It also helps to understand the deeper meaning of combinations. Please note that the style of the characters is always the same, and the translation into Russian may differ slightly. Due to this, the Elder Futhark runic circle is difficult to interpret from a sheet of paper; each symbol must be carefully studied.
The meaning of the reversed rune
Strictly speaking, the Odin rune cannot be inverted, because it is empty. Its interpretation should be considered in its entirety, as something unknowable and transcendental. It gives you a chance to act regardless of anything, including your position in space. Sometimes an empty rune means a refusal to answer: a person asked about something that he should not know. Use of the Odin rune in magic
Runic magic includes the most important element - the application of runes to an amulet or other medium. Since the Odin rune is empty, it is difficult to apply it to anything.
