The image of the goddess Zhiva in Slavic mythology: symbol, attributes, sphere of influence

Zhiva (Jiva, Zhivana, Siva) was revered by the Slavs as the Goddess of Life, Love and Summer. The image of Zhiva is the flowering of nature, the forces of fertility filling the world. The Goddess Zhiva is one of the most beloved by the Slavs, however, the image of this Goddess is not always joyful; sometimes turning to Zhiva is accompanied by light sadness. Perhaps that is why the day of the Goddess Alive is celebrated next to the holiday of remembrance of ancestors.

The Goddess Zhiva personifies the strength of life, the ability to recover from failures, and rejoice at a new stage. However, remembering this Goddess, we certainly remember her sister, Morena, the Goddess of Death, because the life cycle is constant birth and dying.

Slavic goddess Zhiva

The Goddess Zhiva occupies a special place in Slavic mythology. She is the goddess of fate of the whole world. If Makosh

weaves the fateful threads of each person individually, Zhiva represents the very fabric of the universe.

Alive like Svarog

covers the entire world, has colossal wisdom, monitors the implementation of the canons of the Family. She personifies the fire of life necessary to fill all the essences of existence. The Goddess Zhiva complements Rod in the worldview of the ancient Slavs (Polabs).

Deity in Slavic mythology and the embodiment of her image in pictures

Among the Slavs, Zhiva was revered as a female deity, knowing about the fate of each person and giving life to everything around, blessing from above. She personified the beauty of nature and man, youth, and fruitful strength.

If you look at the pictures, you can see that the Slavs represented the goddess as a strong woman with:

  • expressive facial features;
  • lush breasts;
  • long blond hair;
  • blue eyes.

She was dressed in green with a sheaf of ears of wheat in her hands. Therefore, all vegetation is associated with it:

  1. grass;
  2. trees;
  3. flowers.

Her name means life. It contains great energy that conquers darkness. Leads a person to multifaceted development.

Many words are formed from the name that make reference to her image:

  • life;
  • home;
  • animals.

In the old days, instead of the word life, they said belly. It had three meanings:

  1. existence;
  2. property;
  3. part of the body.

Alive in the Polabov culture

In ancient culture it is represented through the image of 3 goddesses:

  • Lelya personifies carefree and naivety;
  • Lada is the mother of the gods, who has absorbed into her image all the power of maternal love and care;
  • Makosh is like a goddess who creates everyone’s destiny. Wisdom Makosh as the personification of the maturity of the feminine essence.

According to another version, Lelya, Lada and Makosh are the incarnation of the three-faced goddess in the waking world in accordance with the seasons: spring, summer and autumn.

The development cycle of a woman corresponds to the natural cycle:

  • In her youth, she is carefree and naive, frivolous and amorous.
  • In marriage she becomes more serious, gives birth and raises children. Lada's hypostasis corresponds to summer; this is the period when one's strength comes.
  • In old age she is calmer and wiser. Has certain experience accumulated over a lifetime. This period corresponds to the image of Makosh, the time of year is autumn.

The last, 4th period - winter corresponds to the extinction of life, the logical completion of the life cycle.

GODDESS JIVA
(
Virgo Alive, Diva, Siva
) - Goddess of Eternal Universal Life, Goddess of young and pure Human Souls.
May 1st
, at midnight, the spring Slavic holiday begins -
Zhivin’s Day
.
Alive
is
the Power of Life
(sustaining life), Revitalization and Nutrition, which flows to us from the Rule, the center of the universe (the world of the Gods).
A particularly powerful flow of this universal power manifests itself during the holidays, when people, being internally cleansed, begin to perceive it more fully; it is felt as emotional uplift, joy and happiness. In the word Zhiva, “Zhi” symbolizes the all-conquering creative power of life, and “Va” (vo) shows its fluidity and all-embracingness. We can find references to this general (universal), united and multi-manifest force in many Slavic fairy tales - these are those symbolic two springs with living and dead water that flow from under the Alatyr stone in Iria. This is confirmed by the Veles Book: “We glorify Svarog, the Grandfather of God, who is the beginning of that divine race and the eternal well of every race, which flows from its source and never freezes in winter. And we drink that Living Water and live until we come, like everyone else, to Him” (plank 11-A). It is this power that Mother Slava gives us to “drink” by sending Perunitsa to the soldiers who died for their Family in a cruel slaughter: “And that Perunitsa flies to us and gives us a horn full of Living Water for eternal life” (VK, plan. 7-D ). Zhiva was used by our ancestors on a daily basis to fill them with spiritual and physical strength: “And let us wash our bodies and wash our souls in the pure Living Waters, and let us go to work, making prayers every day” (VK, plank 26). Alive is the goddess of spring, as the flowering of all living things, the beginning of life. The spring worship of Lada and Zhiva indicate that they are often identified as a single deity and relate to the luminous principle - to universal love and the life of nature. It is also believed that Zhiva is the Daughter of Lada, the wife of Dazhbog. Goddess Jiva gives every person at birth in the World of Reveal a pure and bright Soul, and after a righteous earthly life she gives a person to drink the Divine Suritsa from the Cup of Eternal Life. Goddess JIVA is the personification of the fruitful power of Life
, eternal youth, youth and love, as well as the highest Beauty of all Nature and man.
Patron Goddess of the Chamber of the Virgin in the Svarozh Circle
. It is believed that when the Yarilo-Sun is in the Heavenly Palace of the Virgin, children are born endowed with special feelings, such as: foreseeing great changes in people’s lives and predicting formidable natural phenomena, the ability to understand any confusing situation. She also imparts tenderness, kindness, cordiality and attentiveness to pregnant women and nursing mothers from the Clans of the Great Race, who observe ancient family traditions and the centuries-old Tribal way of life. Goddess Jiva is the kind-hearted wife and savior of Tarkh Dazh-god. Like the Greek Prometheus, Dazhd-God was chained to Alatyr Mountain. But, according to Slavic myths, unlike Prometheus, chained to the mountain by his father, Dazhd-God was bewitched by his first wife Mara (Marena) and chained to the rock by her new husband Koshchei. The Goddess Alive, like Mara, capable of turning into a swan, was in love with Dazhd-God, seeing him chained to a rock, helped him free himself, sprinkled his wounds with living (see Baptism.) and dead water (see Ivan Kupala.). And besides, being the Goddess of Life itself, she breathed into him a new spark of Life. Anthem - Orthodox Praise: Mother Jiva! Shower Guardian! You, Patroness of all our families! We call upon Thee, We glorify Thee, We magnify Thee as the giver of Bright Souls! Give comfort to all people, and give reproduction to our ancient families. And You will come, eternally in our hearts, now and ever and from Circle to Circle. So be, so be, so be!

Symbol Makosh

In the Slavic swastika script, the name of the goddess Makosh in the variant Makozh (Makog) has the consonants - M, K, Zh. The structure of the Goddess Makosh is three-part - in the center is Makosh herself (her logogram is “K”), on the left is Mara (death; her logogram is “ M") and on the right is Zhiva (life; its logogram is “F”).
When reading using the indicated logograms, we get the name “Makosh/Makozh”. In the Slavic alphabet, Zhiva corresponds to the letter Zh, zh
(
Life
).

The Alive Symbol
The letters of the All-Light Letter, to which this symbol belongs, consist of energetically correct parts, i.e. right-handed spirals. For ease of understanding, take a regular spring (right-handed spiral). If you look inside, you will see a deep “O” in front of you. If you put it horizontally and count one and a half turns, you will get Bukova “IZHE”. If you take two turns of a vertical spring, you get Bukova’s “EARTH”. This is a very simplified explanation. When People began to lose the ability to see these BUKOV in Volume and in even more Multidimensional Spaces, in different Dimensions, they were given a cheat sheet - projections of volumetric multidimensional BUKOV onto a plane. Thus, planar writing appeared. Imagine that the entire ABC is a “ball” of wound spiral threads. If you cut the “ball” into planes at different angles, then each of them will have a unique pattern. With such planar “slices” of the Tree of Thought, narrow national languages from the United All-Light Language were identified. Each Nation was charged with the responsibility of preserving its sector from the One All-Light Knowledge. This is how the following appeared: the Language of the “Hidden Order” - Sanskrit, the Language of Communication with the Gods - G (Lord) of Rivers, i.e. Greek, the Language of Health - Latin and others - a total of 147 original Languages of Nations. The nation, in ancient terms, is NasTeya, i.e. Flowing, Creating, Reviving us. The symbol of the Goddess Zhiva is called the letter “Live”. It was formed by combining the letter “M” (Think) and its reflection. Such an arrangement means that the heavenly life order must be repeated in earthly incarnation. It brings together all the spiritual qualities a person has, leading to spiritual perfection. Even the name of the letter “Live” is not accidental. It speaks for itself that by reading the symbols and knowing the patterns, the Slav gains knowledge of how to live and what life is like according to the laws of the Cosmos. The letter “Live” also denotes the life-giving goddess Zhiva. According to Slavic mythology, it was Zhiva who put the spark of life into the first people and gave them a name, it is thanks to Zhiva that everything ALIVE comes to life after Winter and cold. Therefore, it is quite logical to designate the goddess with a symbol with the meaning of Life. This amulet, unlike many, is completely universal. It is suitable for both men and women, professors and housewives. HE gives life force to everyone who needs it. The symbol of the Goddess Zhiva can be worn by anyone who needs the protection of Life itself, who desires prosperity, youth and health. And, of course, this symbol can be given to a pregnant woman to awaken and strengthen maternal tenderness, softness and feminine strength in her. © Website

Development of the monogram of Christ from the common Slavic symbol “Tree of Life”: 1 – Slavic symbol “Tree of Life”; 2 – Celtic version of the Tree of Life; 3 – Slavic symbol of the goddess Zhiva (identified by a growing tree); 4 – Russian letter “Zh”; 6, 7 – Chinese characters “Tree” (old and new styles); 12 – Slavic symbol of the god Perun; 11 – variant of Perunov’s symbol “Gromovnik”; 8 – Sumerian analogue of the “Perun” symbol; 13 – 6-part symbol “Allah”; 5, 9, 10, 14, 15 – variants of the “monogram” of Jesus Christ (literally translated from Greek “age of fishes”).

A roadside altar-altar, where every passer-by could leave their gifts and ask the goddess for help and intercession. Hops and apples are symbols of the goddess Zhiva. According to legends preserved in Poland, in the spring she turns into a cuckoo to “notify” people about the time of year and determine who will live how long.

Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) August 28 - September 21

The Hall of the Virgin and the Boar gives a person the desire to understand the surrounding World in all its diversity. People born in this Hall do not recognize pressure on themselves when making decisions and strive to be leaders themselves in order to independently resolve all issues. - Solutions? Only on your own! It is this phrase that can, in general, characterize the Chamber of the Virgin. They do not tend to focus on anyone when an important decision is at stake. By and large, nature and themselves are authoritative for them. They react to pressure very aggressively, since they do not admit it under any circumstances. So it’s even better not to try to use force on people from the Hall of the Maiden.

.
The Hall of the Virgin is a bright leader, and nothing else! And those born under the auspices of this palace can attract other people with them; these are mysterious strong personalities. They are followed because there is a clear ability to accurately anticipate the situation several steps ahead. Perhaps unity with nature plays a role here. Even the symbol of the Chamber of the Virgin is special - an apple tree. A tree that symbolizes unearthly joy! And the virgins go to this joy, not noticing the obstacles. However, it should be noted that although the Hall of the Maiden is famous for its strength of spirit, it can be broken by disrespect. They simply cannot imagine that their opinion can be ignored and ignored. For representatives of this sign, this is a real tragedy that is difficult to survive! The hall of Virgo gives stubbornness, independence, and the ability to achieve a goal. The patron goddess of the maiden's palace is Jiva. GODDESS Jiva (Virgo Alive, Diva, Siva) - Goddess of Eternal Universal Life, Goddess of young and pure Human Souls. The Goddess Jiva gives each person from the Great Race, or the descendant of the Heavenly Family, a pure and bright Soul at birth in the World of Reveal, and after a righteous earthly life she gives the person to drink the Divine Suritsa from the Cup of Eternal Life. Goddess Jiva is the personification of the fruitful power of Life, eternal youth, youth and love, as well as the highest Beauty of all Nature and man. It is believed that when the Yarilo-Sun is in the Heavenly Palace of the Virgin, children are born endowed with special feelings, such as: foreseeing great changes in people's lives and predicting formidable natural phenomena, the ability to understand any confusing situation. Goddess Jiva is the kind-hearted wife and savior of Tarkh Dazhdbog. She also imparts tenderness, kindness, cordiality and attentiveness to pregnant women and nursing mothers from the Clans of the Great Race, who observe ancient family traditions and the centuries-old Tribal way of life. This wonderful world! People from the Chamber of the Virgin strive to understand it with particular tenacity. They study the surrounding reality, making it part of themselves. Nature treats them very favorably, and this is a kind of gift. Often such people are geosensitive, that is, they react to the slightest change in weather conditions. The Chamber of the Virgin is the Origin of Human Souls. It is not enough to be born, it must be incarnated, take its form. 1st hall of the Chamber of the Virgin (Jiva) - Homesteading. Jiva gives knowledge about life on any Earth, and in worlds that do not belong to the Light. Ours came to other worlds for the purpose of knowledge, not conquest. Before creating a house, an image is created, that is, experience is accumulated. Accumulating, he learns the wisdom of the Hall of Homelessness. Hall 2 of the Hall of Jiva - Services. Serves something or someone: his Family, and the Family unites the Gods too. Service is not humiliation of one in front of another, but service on an equal basis, as an aid to creation. Service is the fulfillment of duty to the Family. In the palace of Virgo there is the creation of life structures, service and protection of soul systems, soul creation. Hall 3 of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - Creation. The third hall is everyone as a creator. In Virgo - the creation of new life. Not just to create children, but to create living conditions for them, a home and protection in order to preserve the fruits of their creation, while gently investing their souls. Hall 4 of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - Mercy. Mercy of the heart creates goodness in the Soul. Mercy is manifestations of the heart; a person creates according to the dictates of his heart. A woman was born to give life to the world, Life that a man creates. When the desires of the hearts coincide, then children of the heart are born. Hall 5 of the Chamber of the Virgin - Irination. Connection at all levels is irination. “Iriy” - purity, “na” - above, “tse” - this is. Spiritual, mental and physical characteristics are united in purity. Hall of purity in Virgo - Mental purity. Pure thoughts, pure words, pure deeds - all this is in unity. Hall 6 of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - Death. Death is a transition to another level of knowledge, entering the brink of new wisdom. The gate is the line between Reality and Navy, Reality and Slava, that is, at the boundaries. “You will not find death for yourself” - that is, you will not find the edge, the boundary of Wisdom. Explicit Wisdom, Glorious Wisdom - there is no boundary here. In the process of cognition, the boundary moves away; when we cross it, we do not notice where the Explicit Wisdom ended, and where the Glorious Wisdom began. The boundary when the gate is open is not noticeable. The path just continues and that’s it. 7th hall of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - the Arbiters of Fate. When Yarilo illuminates this hall in Virgo - the Soul, which will be the arbiter of Fates. A person is well versed in the souls of people and in human destinies, and he explains to people what a person needs to do to reach the Pinnacle of Destiny (mentors, gurus, spiritual Teachers), he tells where a person should go next so that he fulfills the destiny of Destiny (school teachers - from God). Pseudo-teachers - to prohibit, punish, spoil fate - they were not born in this palace, but they imagine themselves to be rulers. If Viy, Udrzec, Varuna are in the 7th hall, then the person is a pseudo-arbiter of destinies, that is, if in this hall of the Land of the Gods of the Border, if such a person was brought up in a negative environment, then he can become an evil genius (creators of nuclear bombs, atomic weapons, etc. .d.) 8th hall of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - Fates. They can freely read the Book of Fates (especially if Yarilo and other fertile lands are in this room). The life of such people is difficult, because he knows his Fate and sees the fate of others. Hall 9 of the Hall of the Virgin (Jiva) - Wisdom. Wisdom Soulful, pure, bright - in Virgo. But these people are very often used - purity itself, they are used as a vest, Wise and calm - they need protection and patronage. It’s a little easier for those at the boundaries of halls 9-1, it covers two palaces, two halls. Those born on the borders of the halls bear a great responsibility, double in relation to those born in the hall itself. Those born on the borders of the palaces do the same, because they are responsible for maintaining the structure of both the two palaces and the two halls. Therefore, the Dark Forces, knowing about the qualities that these people receive at birth, try to create such conditions so that these people are cut off from the world around them, that is, so that they are alone and cannot influence others. See Circle of Svarog. The amulet of the Chamber of the Virgin, JIVA
, connects its owner with the Goddess of Universal Life. The Goddess of the Human Soul, Jiva or Siva, as our ancestors called her, gives everyone born on this earth an initially unclouded, joyful soul and personifies fruitful strength, youth and supreme beauty. The Virgo's chamber brings self-reliance and independence; people born under his rule are easily given the title of leader. There is no point in putting pressure and coercion on them, since they themselves are able to figure out any complicated situation. The Chamber of the Virgin amulet will help such people achieve harmony with the world around them, since they are initially endowed with the gift of feeling any change in nature. Goddess Jiva brings unfading youth, heartfelt kindness, and tenderness to her charges. But in critical situations, they are characterized by perseverance, confidence in the chosen path and the desire to achieve the goal. The people of the Hall of the Maiden demand respect for themselves, and are very sensitive to familiarity and other people's authoritarianism. Forceful methods applied to them will only lead to rupture. The Jiva amulet awakens intuition and makes it possible to foresee the situation several steps ahead. This is an important quality for any leader. Despite the certain feminine connotation of many of the properties of this amulet, it will be a good gift for any person preparing himself for a high position. Following Jiva is a pleasure, as they are the most responsible and attentive Leaders. Strength of spirit always leads them to victory. Everyone who communicates with people from the Hall of the Virgin subconsciously senses their remarkable organizational skills and follows them. The energy message of this palace is very strong, and together with the amulet it doubles the strength of the owner. In a family, this sign serves as a worthy amulet for a pregnant woman, as well as for one who wholeheartedly cares for the cause of her husband. Sphere of influence

The guardian of life and health is alive.
The Slavic Goddess Zhiva is the guardian of life on a global scale. It is not possible to limit it to certain functions.

  • She is present at the creation of the world, fills it with vital energy and breath.
  • Saves life.
  • Patronizes the world of Reveal.
  • Grants fertility.
  • Protects world order.

Sacred groves of Ratibor

In the culture of the Polabs, the Slavic goddess Zhiva appears as the primary force, which gave rise to three aspects of female deities:

  • Lelya is a girl full of youthful enthusiasm and carefreeness;
  • Lada is a young woman in the prime of her life;
  • Makosh is the maternal principle, capable of creating the wisdom of the entire life cycle.

Thanks to this understanding of the pantheon, the goddess Zhiva occupied the position of a multifaceted phenomenon encompassing the entire process of the life cycle. Since one of the aspects of the goddess's concern was fertility and nature itself, sacred groves served as her temples.

For universal access to the divine principle, there was a sacred place within the city limits. The largest idol in honor of Zhiva was installed in its center. Sacred groves were closed from general visitation. The Magi celebrated the goddess there.

Attributes of a goddess

The following attributes are associated with the image of Zhiva:

  • natural phenomenon: summer, late spring when all nature is already awakening;
  • a key or gushing spring as the personification of life;
  • bird: the cuckoo is a symbol of summer;
  • fish;
  • plants: sprouted wheat and various fruits;
  • the color green, symbolizing life;
  • stone: emerald;
  • treba (sacrifice): freshly baked bread, beautiful ribbons, wreaths of bright summer flowers, fresh millet porridge and specially baked ritual cookies.

Holidays in her honor

The Goddess Zhiva was honored twice:

  1. First they celebrated the first of May. This spring Slavic holiday is called Zhivin Day. festivities were held in the fields, representatives of the fair sex danced around the fire, armed with brooms. Such dances were supposed to drive out all evil spirits after the time of dark Mara.
    After that, everyone wanted to cleanse themselves, so they jumped over the fire. The higher the jump, the further away death will be. After this, young girls wove wreaths of flowers and asked for a successful marriage and healthy children in the future. In the old days, in addition to praising the Goddess, they honored the gift of productivity and human labor.

    Important ! On the first of May it was forbidden to carry out any activity other than the joyful praise of the Goddess Alive.

  2. The second holiday in honor of the Goddess Zhiva was celebrated on May twenty-sixth .
    It was called Cuckoo Day. According to legends, this day served as the opening of the gates of Svarga, birds flew out of them, Zhiva turned into a cuckoo, followed them and descended to earth with the mission of awakening natural force and bringing new life. It was believed that she predicted how many years were measured for each living creature. Offerings included painted eggs, brightly colored ribbons, fresh bread, milk and cookies, and wreaths made from wildflowers.

The Goddess Zhiva is very revered by the people. She brought life and fertility to the earth. Therefore, she deserves to be offered various delicacies during her festivals. Live close to emotional, honest, people with leadership qualities, who have hobbies and who are ready to share them with others, leading them. She also has runes with which you can find out what awaits you in the future.

Rune Alive

To make a personal talisman, you can also use the runes of the goddess Zhiva: “is” and “rock”.

Rune "Is"

The rune “is” contains the sacred power of the goddess Zhiva, the power of the very life of the entire universe, and is also used in fortune telling. When a straight or inverted sign appears, the meaning also changes.

The direct position of the rune indicates a favorable period of life where harmony and good luck await.

The inverted position speaks of a peculiar separation of man from the world. His consciousness is not ready for communication or learning, which causes depression. A person closed from the world feels deprived and lonely.

Rune "rock"

To make the Zhiva amulet, you can use the “rock” rune, consisting of the intersection of 3 rays and reminiscent of the sign of the goddess herself.

Rock symbolizes the unity of the beginning and end of all things.

  • A straight ray located in the center means the meaning of existence, the path of life directed to God Above;
  • 2 rays intersecting in the center and with the straight line represent Zhiva and Rod.
  • The upper part of the symbol and the lower part from the center of intersection symbolize 2 worlds: visible (explicit) and hidden from human eyes. Reality refers to the human world, hidden to the world of gods and spirits.

Alive in Slavic mythology

Alive helped the birth of the gods Kolyada and Avsenya

at May-Zlatogorka.
She was with Dazhdbog’s wife in a cave, the birth of the twins was guarded by the fire god Semargl.
According to fate, Zlatogorka was supposed to give birth to sons, but because of Chernobog’s spell she ended up in the world of Navi. The light gods managed to return Mai to the world, but after the birth of her sons, she again went into the underworld and merged with the soul of Mara.

There is a legend according to which Zhiva was kidnapped by a skipper-beast and bewitched; for 300 years she served the darkness along with her sisters Lelya and Morana. After the Svarozhichi freed them, she returned to the side of good.
