Slavic craftswomen prepared clothes for reels in advance - they cut the fabric and sewed the scraps together. If possible, they did without needles and scissors. It was not allowed to combine the preparation process with winding the amulet. This is due to the belief that sharp objects spoil positive energy.

Materials for making a doll

Choose natural materials for creating the Spiridon Solstice doll.

white fabric 32x22 cm - for the doll’s head;
natural filler - a material of natural origin, into which dried herbs can be added if desired (for the head);
a piece of fabric 15x10 cm - for a hat;
a piece of material 20x22 cm - these will be hands;
a piece of bright material 26x21 cm for a shirt;
fabric 40x22 cm for legs;
two pieces of fabric 21x16 cm in size - we will make panties from them;
a skein of light woolen thread for hair;
a 30 cm coil of wire - to make a wheel;
thick red thread - we will use it to cover the wheel;
cord or ribbon for a belt.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a rag doll

Since we start making skeins from the head, gradually moving down, we need to take a white piece of fabric 32x22 cm and lay it out on a flat, clean surface. Place the head stuffing exactly in the middle of the fabric rectangle.
We wrap the head filler vertically into a roll, then bend it in half. We stretch a red thread through the fold, with which we will attach the hair. We wind a red thread under the filler ball - this will be the neck. Wind the thread in the direction of the sun.
The head is ready, you can move on to the hands. Lay the fabric for them on the table, slightly bending each of the two ends inward - literally a few centimeters.
Fold the upper part of the fabric down, folding it in half, and then wind the fabric into a roll. The twist should be tight. Use red thread to wrap the ends of your arms. This way you will not only form the palms, but also secure the material so that it does not unravel.
Place the twist under the neck. To secure the limbs, you need to use the red thread again. In the previous paragraphs, parts of the figure were simply tied with thread. Here it is necessary to form a protective cross.
When the blank for the upper body is ready, start rolling the roll for the legs. It is done in the same way as the previous twist. Only, unlike the first one, this one will need to be folded in half.
Fold the leg roll twice and place the resulting triangle under the remaining piece of white fabric. Having carefully tucked the material, carefully, without sparing the thread, wrap the torso and legs of the figure.
Now it's time for the underwear. The pant legs will have to be done one at a time. Place a cloth under the doll's right leg, tucking it near the edge so that the threads do not stick out. The right end should pass under the right leg, leaving a triangle to the left so that a little fabric remains from the back, on the belt.
Wind the material to the right until it runs out, and then fasten the bottom of the trouser leg with thread, as you did with your palms. You need to think about making a shirt in advance, because you will have to make a pattern for it. Cut out a two-layer shirt with a hole for the neck and hands. There is no need to sew the fabric on the sides - this way you won’t be able to put a shirt on Spiridon Solstice. Having thrown the clothes over your head, fasten the edges of the fabric and wrap them with thread in the area of the belt and hands.
A bundle of hair thread should also be prepared in advance. It will have to be fastened in a very specific way, distributing the thread into two threads - front and back. To secure them, pull part of the material for the head up and tie it with red thread.
Don't forget about the hat, which should cover the turn signal's hair. To do this, fold the fabric intended for the headdress, and then apply it to the head and wrap it around. Tie a red thread around the doll's forehead and bend the top down.
The last thing in the doll's clothes is to attach the belt.
Now all that remains is to make a wheel with eight spokes from wire and wrap this device with thread. When the wheel is finished, you must give it to the doll. Pull the handles forward and attach the wheel to the doll's wrists so that it appears as if she is holding it in front of her.

We start performing the toy from the head and gradually move down. Cut out a 30 by 20 cm rectangle from a white piece of paper and lay it out on the table surface. We place the filler in the middle.
We wrap the head filler in a roll and bend it. We wind a red thread under the ball: this is the future neck.
For the arms you will need a flap 20 by 22 cm. We bend each of its sides a little inward. We bend the top part down and fold it in half. We form a tight roll of fabric. We wrap the ends of the hands with red threads - these are the palms.
We place the twist under the neck. To secure the ends, we form a protective cross from red threads.
The legs are also twisted using the same method. For them you will need a 40 by 20 cm flap.
Sparing no thread, we wrap the torso and legs of the figure.
We form the legs one by one: we place fabric under the doll’s legs and wrap them around them. We secure the bottom with threads.
It is better to sew the shirt in advance. You will need a pattern for it.
To secure the hair, pull the head up and tie a bunch of woolen threads with red thread.
