Stone of justice and goodness Seraphinite - places of extraction, healing and magical properties, unique photo collection

Most opaque minerals are often called semi-precious, thereby noting that gems are not distinguished by crystal transparency or brilliant shimmer. However, they have their own charm and mystery. One such stone is seraphinite, whose intricate silvery patterns evoke thoughts of snow-covered pine forests, distant galaxies and even angels.

History of the mineral

According to some sources, the mineral was first described in 1888 by the Russian mineralogist N.I. Koksharov in the scientific work “Materials for Mineralogy of Russia.” Other sources claim that W. Blake first described clinochlore and gave it the name. The scientific name comes from the Greek words klino - “tilt” and chloros - “green”. The stone was named so because of its color and because its crystals are tilted to the sides at different angles.

Type of mineral - Seraphinite

The use of clinochlore for jewelry purposes began only after the end of World War II, when it was popularly called seraphinite. It received this name because its iridescent fibers resemble the feathers of an angel.

There is a legend about the origin of seraphinite. According to it, one day the six-winged angel Seraphim learned about a girl in love who had been betrayed, and for the first time in his long existence he cried, because angels do not have the right to help mortals. On the ground, his tears turned into green crystals - clinochlore.
