Embroidery of Slavic amulets: patterns, meaning, rules of work

A little history of amulets

Amulet pendant made of beads
All ancient jewelry that our ancestors wore always had a double function - they were supposed to not only decorate, but also protect their owner. There used to be no jewelry without meaning; they were all divided into certain categories:

  1. Amulets for women, for unmarried girls and married ladies are necessarily different.
  2. Charms for children.
  3. Amulets for men.
  4. Protective ornaments for the home, for household utensils, for weapons, for agricultural implements, for pets, etc.

All traditional patterns carried a variety of meanings. Some were called upon to protect the family and children from the influence of evil forces, others gave health and fertility, warded off misfortunes, gave their owner confidence in battle, etc.

All folk embroideries are not just patterns. Each detail had its own special meaning. By the embroidered clothes one could determine the status of a person, where he was from, what family he was from. The clothes of married women have always been different from the clothes of unmarried girls. Protective embroidery not only told about its owner, but also helped her protect herself from life’s hardships and protect her children.

Beaded embroidery and beaded jewelry have even been discovered during archaeological excavations. But usually, when they talk about this type of folk art, they first of all remember the art of the peoples of the North. They really have a lot of all kinds of embroidered jewelry and items of clothing, from high boots to outerwear.

But beads are not at all a monopoly of the northern peoples. These embroidered and woven amulets were common throughout Russia, from North to South. So you can always take ancient folk forms as the basis for modern jewelry.

Volumetric keychain

  1. You will need a step-by-step photo diagram of the desired product. According to the text description, it is very difficult for a beginner to make a three-dimensional keychain. So the first step is to find a suitable scheme on the Internet.
  2. You need to prepare the necessary materials: beads, wire, beads... All this can be bought at a handicraft store.
  3. It’s better to put a photo of the finished product in front of your eyes, which is to be worked on. This will be inspiring and it will be easier to understand the photo diagram.

Beading

The passion for beads came to us from ancient times. Jewelry made from this material is light, delicate and elegant. If you want an original piece of jewelry that no one else has, you can either buy it or order it from a master.

Modern industry offers a huge variety of materials for beading: beads of different sizes and colors, different textures and shapes, made of glass, stone or wood. You can add silver and gold threads for embroidery or different stones for decoration. The scope for imagination is huge.

In addition, on the Internet you can find diagrams and instructions for making a product of any degree of complexity. It is enough to understand a little about the basics of beading to make a beaded amulet with your own hands. It could even be simple “flowers” made of beads that even a child can weave. But this will be your talisman, created with your own hands.

Color activation of the energy of a beaded amulet

To activate the amulet you have prepared, take 9 candles of the expanded color scheme. Let the first be white, then 7 rainbow colors, and then black. Light the candles and concentrate on their colors.

Let the colors corresponding to the color scheme of the amulet be closer to you. Your meditation is a tribute to the energies, so dedicate at least 20 minutes to it. Say the phrase three times:

Take off your amulet and place it in front of the candles. Now do visualization - imagine how energy enters your amulet in turn from all the candles - imagine the colors, if you can. If it’s still difficult, let all the energies be the same color of your choice.

Try to keep the picture in your head for as long as possible, because by visualizing, you really endow the created object with the necessary energy. It is best to let the candles burn out until the end; fluff them with your fingers. Wear your handmade amulet as often as possible - it should come into contact with your energy channels.

Creating amulets from beads is not a quick task, but they work when activated correctly. These stylish little things will be with you, but their energy is capable of much. Do not forget to check that your amulet is firmly attached to your hand or neck - you cannot lose such a thing. You can weave luck, joy into it, create a talisman of love or career, combine everything that you want to have. Try the magic of color, because it is very natural, pure and bright. Using this method, you can create strong amulets with your own hands; they will help you in a difficult situation.

Rules for working with magical artifacts

If you want to buy a good amulet made of beads, then first decide exactly which option you need. Whether you wear it yourself, decorate your home, or give it to a friend. If you bought an artifact or were given it as a gift, then before you use it, you must first cleanse it of unnecessary, foreign energy. And then “charge”.

Important! Amulets, like other objects, can absorb a lot of foreign and harmful energy. After all, people often wash things bought in a store before wearing them. It's exactly the same principle here.

In addition to external dirt, it is necessary to clean the magical thing from invisible, energetic dirt. Depending on the material, the item is cleaned:

  1. Water, holy or running, preferably spring water.
  2. Salt.
  3. By fire.
  4. Salt water.

You can immerse the item in a container with salt or holy water overnight. If you can’t wash it, then put it in salt and then shake it off. You need to put it in at least overnight, and preferably for a day.

Process Features

How to make Slavic amulets from beads? The magical arts have specific recommendations on this matter. Knowledgeable people turn beadwork into a real ritual with the proper attributes, atmosphere and spells. At home you can do it in a simpler way.

“Important: When creating a talisman, be clear about the person or purpose for which you are making it.”

The necessary energy will automatically be woven into the amulet, filling it with strength, intention and mood.

If for some reason the beaded amulet is torn, do not try to return it to its previous appearance. This is a sign that the protective talisman has done its job. You need to collect everything that is left of it, bury it in the ground or throw it into a reservoir. And be sure to thank the little thing for serving faithfully.

Activation rules

The main thing here is to listen to your intuition. You choose the method yourself. But above all, choose the right time. You must be in a good mood and feeling well. When you are sick or experiencing a loss of strength and mood, you should not work with artifacts. You will transfer your negative energy to them.

You can choose to work day or night, depending on what time of day you prefer when you feel energized. You can choose the appropriate ritual, but choose only those that you really like and seem to work.

If you do not believe in the power of the ritual or you are not satisfied with some details, it is better not to use it, it will not be of any use. To activate an amulet, sometimes it is enough just to hold it in your hands. It all depends on your strength and the state of your energy. You can put the artifact under your pillow at night.

Step-by-step instructions with photos

We will start making a beaded amulet by creating a wire frame. Then we decorate it with beads, add chains and pendants. So, let's go!

Step 1: Make the stars

Cut a long piece from the gold wire. Fold it in half and secure it to some small object (for example, a pencil).

Twist the two pieces of wire into a spiral around each other. Make sure that when twisting the wire does not break or bend.

Wrap the coiled wire around the star shape. Fix the ends of the wire and form a loop from them. Trim off any excess wire.

Make 8 of these stars.

Step 3: Make a Wire Frame

Wrap the gold wire around the disc spool 10-11 times. For safety reasons, wrap the ends of the wire around the winding and thus additionally secure the circle.

Carefully trim the ends of the wire.

Step 4: Add Beads

Around the locking winding mentioned in step 3, wrap approximately 5cm of gold wire around the circle. Insert an 8 mm faceted bead into the end of the wire and pull it to the end. Next, wrap the wire around the frame about 3 times. After this, the ball will sit tightly and neatly. Your first ball should look just like the picture.

Continue adding beads until you have completely wrapped the wire frame. The number of beads and the length of the wire depend on what size amulet you want. Our circle is about 11.5 cm in diameter.

When finished with the beads, carefully cut the wire.

Step 5: Add Stars

Cut small pieces from the white chain: one 20 cm, two 14 cm, 2 11.5 cm and two 6.5 cm. Attach these pieces to 7 stars. Add all the elements using jump rings that are inserted into the wire loops on the tops of the stars.

Then cut a few more pieces of the chain: one 18 cm, two 12.5 cm and two 9 cm. Attach decorative snowflakes to the ends of these chains.

Attach the stars and snowflakes to the wire circle in this order: in the middle is a star with a 20 cm chain and next to it a snowflake with an 18 cm chain. In a mirror image, add 2 snowflakes with 12.5 cm chains, then stars with 14 cm, 2 stars with 11.5 cm, two snowflakes with 9 cm, and attach 6.5 cm stars at the ends.

Step 6: Add the Bells

Attach silver bells to the base of each mirror image star. Attach decorations using jump rings.

Step 7: Add Side Elements

From the spirally twisted gold wire (as in step 2), cut 2 pieces of 10 cm each. Form open loops at the ends of these pieces.

Bend the loops into an arc and attach them to the sides of the charm, making sure that the loops go in the spaces between the beads. To secure the wire, close the loops.

Beaded amulets and talismans

To make a beaded amulet, it would be nice to understand the symbolism of color in order to make things with the given characteristics. In traditional jewelry, every color and shape had a meaning. They could not be confused or arbitrarily swapped. Nowadays masters create works in any, even the most free style. But if you want to get not just a decoration, but a working amulet, then you must first familiarize yourself with the characteristics of each selected color.

The right color will enhance the work of your amulet. Choose a color according to its meaning and according to your taste. If the recommended color “doesn’t suit your soul”, choose another one that you really like. But first, ask what characteristics he has, what qualities he will develop and attract into your life.

If you make a mistake with the color, you can enhance the qualities you don’t need and nullify the ones you need. In addition, you need to decide on the place where you will place your artifact. It’s one thing if it’s a workplace, it’s quite another thing if it’s your own bedroom or kitchen where the whole family gathers.

Characteristics of bead color

When working with beads, primary colors are primarily used - these are 7 colors of the rainbow and 2-3 additional ones. The main additional ones are black and white. Red and orange colors are designed to protect the owner from the “evil eye”. And also bright red will help attract love into your life or harmonize existing relationships.

Orange also attracts natural forces to enhance your energy. If you need the support of natural forces, take yourself a talisman of this color. Yellow also protects against the evil eye and damage. Black and white matte colors cleanse a person’s aura, strengthen the will and mind. Blue and green shades help get rid of loneliness or prevent unhappy love.

In general, green is a symbol of health and physical strength. If they are deficient, green shades can be used. Another green talisman can help with weight loss. Blue or cyan color is a symbol of harmony, in the human soul or in the surrounding space. So products of this particular shade are suitable for harmonizing the overall atmosphere in the house. But you need to be more careful with bright, aggressive tones. For some they will significantly add vitality. And someone may be harmed, provoking an exacerbation of diseases.

Important! A properly made bead product is a real talisman, made with your own hands.

To activate the amulet you need to call on the help of the four main elements

How to use embroidery amulets correctly

The embroidered amulet should be stored in a spacious and bright place. It is important that it is constantly recharged with the energy of the sun and air.

If necessary, wash the embroidery in warm water with the addition of a neutral detergent. You can first rinse it in a strong salt solution to remove accumulated negativity from the amulet.

If the product is lost, the threads are worn out, or the frame of the amulet picture breaks over time, this means that the talisman has fulfilled its purpose. Now you can betray it to one of the elements: Earth (bury), Fire (burn) or Water (float along the river).
