Talisman “Tree of Life”: meaning, what helps, how to use?

The tree of life is a great symbol of antiquity, personifying the interconnection of lives - just as the branches of a tree are connected to the trunk and roots, so are human lives connected to each other.

The circle of crown and branches is a sign of the infinity of life, its rebirth. In different parts of the world, people gave the tree of life different names: some are the Table of the World, some are the World Tree, but in all cultures it was given great respect.

This sacred symbol was deeply revered by our distant Slavic, Scandinavian and some Egyptian ancestors.

The Tree of Life was designed to protect humanity, to nourish families and homes with the positive energy that Mother Earth gives it.

Such a talisman is considered strong; it can protect against evil eyes and all sorts of diseases, and will help improve relationships in love and with children.

The history of the appearance of the talisman

According to mythology, the Tree means the universe. It is on the branches that the Gods live, and Paradise is also located there. Evil Gods live in the roots, for example, Chernobog. The trunk means the life of people, animals and plants.

The Tree of Life is the center of the Universe among the Slavs.

Previously, temples were built near strong and large trees. The branches bent over the roof of the building, creating a firmament of heaven. For the Slavs, the Tree was like the center of the Universe, which connects everything on earth into a single whole.

Meanings of the Slavic symbol Tree of Life:

  • Growth and development.
  • Reproduction and rebirth.
  • The connection between light and darkness.
  • The connection between Gods and people.

In history, the Tree is associated with the Alatyr amulet. The tree of life grew from this talisman (one day it fell from heaven). And this was a resting place for the Gods. And nearby there was a stream with living water and an eternal flame.

Variants of the symbol among different peoples

The Tree of Life amulet is one of the oldest; it was used in many countries.

The tree symbolizes life and harmony.

  • Scandinavian legends tell about the tree Yggdrasil, which shared its knowledge and wisdom with the supreme deity Odin, and also revealed to him the secret of runic symbols.
  • The ancient Egyptians associated the Tree of Life with the goddess Iusat, considering acacia to be her attribute. They believed that it was she who served as a conductor between the world of the dead and the living.
  • Persian ideas about the World Tree focused on its fertility, considering it the source of all life.
  • Medieval alchemists were much more interested in the aspect of immortality, which, among other things, was also symbolized by the tree.

The most common is the Celtic image of the Tree of Life, made in a characteristically patterned style using knots. Druids, Celtic priests, considered the oak tree to be the most sacred tree. For them, it was the center of the universe and the door to passage to another world.

What does the symbol look like?

You can find various images of the ancient symbol. It looks like an ordinary tree with a well-developed crown and root system. But you can also find images that at first glance are not associated with a tree, for example, a vertical line and 3 branches that point upward.

Sometimes the Tree of Life looks like a woman with her hands pointing upward. This means that she asks for help from the Gods and believes in their power. The Slavs often made a talisman in the form of embroidery and paintings. A flowering tree means life. Sometimes they made it in the form of a knot, which meant the continuation of life.

In fact, any well-developed tree can be considered symbolic of the Tree of Life. The main thing is that it looks majestic, as if this plant is already several hundred years old and continues to develop. This is just like people, whose number is increasing every day and they continue to develop.

Meaning in Kabbalah

In Kabbalah, the Tree means the universe. It indicates the connection of entities called sephiroth. The latter appeared immediately after the creation of the Universe. And people are trying to preserve them. The Tree has 3 pillars, which indicate mercy, severity and balance. Each pillar contains a number of sephiroth:

  • The central one indicates the eternity of God , it has no beginning or end. The most important thing is that God is merciful.
  • Another sephira is Wisdom , it indicates inspiration. And in order for a person to have enough wisdom, but its amount does not go off scale, it must be restrained by severity.
  • Another essence is Awareness . It has the meaning of correct thinking. A person receives information, processes it and retains only the useful part. This indicates that you need to follow traditions and not lose your mind.
  • Mercy has a connection with balance. Together they point to the internal struggle of people, because it often happens that a person has to choose between what he wants and how it should be. And here you need to be strict with yourself, not allow your desires to take over. After all, a fair act will help other people see the truth and learn to act just as well.
  • Another essence is Harmony and Beauty . If a person was able to cope with the contradictions within himself, he achieved harmony. He becomes beautiful not only in terms of appearance, but also in his actions and thoughts.
  • Now comes the paired sephira. These are Eternal Battle and Reflection . A person must fight for existence and his dream. And reflection is what he gets as a result.
  • The foundation allows you to see your positive and negative traits and accept all your bad qualities.
  • The last entity is called the Realm . Its meaning is God, the Universe is his kingdom. He is not only in the sky, but also on the ground and looks at people.

Meaning among the Slavs

For the Slavs, a tree meant the center of the world. This is the connection of three worlds (the world of God, the earth and the underworld). In their opinion, the crown of the Tree is behind the clouds, and it is Paradise. Our Ancestors, Gods and creators of all living things live there.

According to the Slavs, the Tree is located on Buyan Island, on the Alatyr stone. And this place is the center of the Earth.

The image of the Tree has lived for thousands of years and is transmitted through fairy tales and songs. This is how it has survived to this day. Archaeologists have found symbolism on various objects - jewelry, furniture, tools. The pattern was also often applied to clothing. The symbolism was also reflected in the holidays. We have preserved one tradition - putting up a Christmas tree for New Year and Christmas. And this tree points to the Tree of Life - the center of our world. This is something like a prototype. The tradition of conducting round dances around a tree, as the Slavs did, has also been preserved. But they walked around the birch and oak trees.

Previously, there were groves and forests where it was forbidden to cut down trees and harm them. It was in these places that the Slavs performed rituals, celebrated and connected with God and their ancestors. From all that has been said, we can conclude that for the Slavs the Tree was something like a connection with God and the Ancestors, as well as the new generation and traditions.

Tree of Life: Mythology of the Ancient Slavs

The Slavs were one of the peoples in whose culture the tree of life was located in a sacred area. It was the center of the interconnection of worlds, where they became a single whole.

According to legends, on the island of Buyan, in the very center of the Earth, there stood the sacred stone Alatyr, where the tree of life took root, and folklore heroes worshiped it, so that in their journey through many worlds the tree would help them find the truth.

It was believed that the roots of the tree symbolize the underworld, which was called Navya: here the kingdom of Chernobog, Mara and other dark gods ruled.

The trunk is Reality, the real world, where all people and living creatures are, and Rule, the crown of the tree, is the world of bright gods, paradise.

The tree of life was so revered among the Slavs that even temples were often built around a huge tree. Its crown rushed upward, above the roof, and personified the firmament.

IMPORTANT! The tree often occupied a place in rituals and was a symbol of the coming new year, and the trunk often personified the road. In addition, it was a powerful symbol of fertility, procreation and wisdom. The Slavs used the image of the sacred tree on clothing and household appliances, and it occupied an important place in songs and fairy tales.

Do-it-yourself Tree of Life amulet

A DIY Tree of Life amulet is much stronger than one bought in a store. It allows you to establish a strong connection with a person, giving enormous strength. If a person understands needlework, making such a talisman with his own hands will not be difficult. You can buy all the necessary things to create an amulet at a hardware store. You can use wire to make a tree crown. The leaves of the tree will be made of beads or pebbles. Roots can be made from metal.

The most important thing is to choose the right time to create the amulet so that it turns out strong. We recommend doing the following:

  • Focus on your goal.
  • Clearly formulate the purpose for which the amulet is created.
  • Choose a sunny, clear day.
  • Don't be distracted by other things.
  • Choose a day when the person feels good.

To make a tree of life with your own hands you will need the following:

  • Wire. It is important that the metal is thin or flexible.
  • Beads. We will make leaves from it.
  • Root ring. It must be iron.

Now let's start making:

  1. Take the wire and cut it into 24 pieces. It is important that they are even, so if you are not sure about the calculations, use a ruler. The length of the wire is 2 times longer than that of the ring + 10 cm.
  2. For each part of the wire you need to determine the middle. We twist the middle part to the base of the circle.
  3. Afterwards, each part of the wire must be braided in the form of a pigtail. This will create the appearance of roots. You need to braid approximately one tenth of the diameter of the circle.
  4. We collect all the created braids into a common flagellum. We twist the latter to a quarter of the diameter. We will get a point at which we make a branch (we take 6 wires and take them to the left side). We put it on the ring.
  5. We twist another branch. It needs to be pointed to the right.
  6. In this way we form the branches of the tree. We twist each of the branches to create the appearance of a tree.
  7. Do not twist the flagella completely. We should still have pieces of wire left. We put beads on them. Then we twist the remaining ends.

What is a tree talisman?

The Tree of Life amulet is a powerful magical symbol of protecting and preserving the well-being of the family and clan. Visually, it resembles the figure of a man standing on his feet with his arms raised up. The man is depicted in this particular pose because it is believed that tree branches are similar to human hands and by raising his hands up, a person receives energy from space. The amulet not only protects people, but also helps each person find his true path, as if receiving a blessing from his ancestors. The tree is a family talisman. It is passed on from generation to generation, along with the transfer of energy from older family members to younger ones. The amulet removes damage and curses that enemies or envious people could inflict on the family. Visually, this is depicted on the talisman as a circle in which a tree stands. This circle covers the roots and keeps them safe.

Using the Tree of Life talisman with other amulets

The Tree of Life can be depicted on a wooden surface and represent the classic appearance of wood.

The Tree of Life amulet was often worn in pairs with other protective talismans so that they strengthen each other. The best “duet” is the Tree with the star of Svarog. It is believed that the star bestows its wearer with the energy of the Sun, and the branches of the tree distribute it throughout the body.

Only a strong person can use this combination, since a powerful energy impact without proper skillful management can cause not creation, but destruction.

Note! The combination is best used by men. For women there is no prohibition as such, but the risk of not being able to cope with the force is too great.
