Broom amulet - protect yourself and attract good luck

The ancient Slavs knew how and loved to make various amulets with their own hands, which protected their homes from evil forces and attracted prosperity to the house. And one of them, perhaps the most important, was the broom amulet, to which our ancestors gave the main place under their roof, since they sacredly believed in its supernatural power.

In modern times, protective brooms are once again gaining more and more popularity. They can be treated in different ways: as a kind of connecting link with “deep antiquity”, as the decor of a room, or as a real amulet for your home. The main thing is to believe in its wonderful magical properties, and it will certainly help you in all your affairs.

Ritual cleansing of the home with a broom-amulet

  • Our ancestors knew a lot about all sorts of magical rituals, so why shouldn’t we take advantage of their knowledge?
  • Like the ancient keeper of the hearth, you can make a small broom-amulet with your own hands, which should contain all kinds of medicinal herbs that can drive out evil spirits. Replenish your broom with wormwood, St. John's wort , tie it with a rope, and then sweep it around the furniture, walls and floor, as if purifying the energy of the house.
  • When the cleaning procedure is completed, you need to take the broom somewhere far away and set it on fire there - let the bad energy dissipate along with the smoke. Our ancestors also took such brooms to crossroads and left them there, but you and I won’t do this, will we? Let’s not pollute the streets of our cities and villages with such brooms full of negativity - after all, we are for a clean environment!

Broom amulet: meaning

  • In ancient times, people believed that any broom-amulet purchased in the first days of the new year was a magical thing. When they brought him into the house, they threw out the old broom along with last year’s troubles and sorrows, asking the brownie to help in this matter - after all, he loved to relax behind the stove, sitting astride a broom.
  • People made sure that this thing, necessary both for the household and for the brownie, was kept in perfect condition all year round, and then the brownie, in gratitude for this, helped them in every possible way.
  • According to an old superstition, the owner herself should work on creating a broom - only in this case will it acquire its magical properties by absorbing her energy message. But nowadays, rarely anyone knows how to make brooms with their own hands, so you can buy them in a store or at the market. It is very important to run running water on it before the first cleaning, and only then cover the floors of all rooms of the house with it.

Magical properties of the amulet

An ordinary broom, according to ancient legends, has incredibly powerful energy, which, with the help of conspiracies or rituals, can be aimed at protecting a home from various troubles and misfortunes.

A charmed broom will help improve relations with a brownie who is angry with the tenants (yes, this spirit is not always friendly towards a person; sometimes you need to find a special approach to it - for example, to appease it with something).

And a broom, used as a talisman, can attract wealth, abundance and happiness into the house, as well as “sweep away” bad energy, protect residents from the effects of damage and the evil eye, and ward off misfortunes and major quarrels. A talisman in the form of a broom, hung in the house of a young family, will allow the couple to have children faster, and will also avert family discord and quarrels from the newlyweds.

Attention! Protective talismans tend to accumulate negative energy directed at a person, so any amulet needs regular energy cleaning or replacement with a new one.

If these measures are not taken, the amulet will not only lose its effectiveness, but may begin to harm the person, giving him all the accumulated negative energy. Used as a protective amulet, the broom needs to be replaced approximately once a year (for a house with a “heavy” aura or a bad past - even more often).

As a protective amulet, you should not take a broom with which you do cleaning and touch dirt and dust. The talisman can only be a new and clean one, preferably a self-made broom. You can also purchase a miniature decorative broom-amulet in the store and perform a simple magical ritual over it, aimed at protecting your home and family, however, you should keep in mind that an amulet you assemble with your own hands will be several times stronger and more effective and will last longer than a purchased one.

How does the broom talisman work?

  • This is an amulet intended not for cleaning, but for the protective function of the house and interior decoration. Before hanging it on the wall, sprinkle your future amulet three times with holy water and think only about good things. The service life of such an amulet whisk is a year, after which it should be replaced with a new one.
  • But even an ordinary broom can be given the status of a talisman if you use it correctly. With its help, you can not only clean your apartment, but also use it to sweep away energetic trash, and open a portal for well-being, prosperity and luck.
  • In case of family troubles, our ancestors resorted to this remedy: they turned the broom and amulet the other way around and knocked with its handle on the threshold of the house, and then the good spirits helped them.
  • If luck turned away from the family, the mistress of the house swept the floors, starting to do it from the entrance doors to the center. This measure also attracted money into the house.

The effect of the amulet is varied

  • If, when buying a new broom, you think of a wish and, at least purely symbolically, sweep the rooms of your house with it, this will speed up its fulfillment.
  • If an unmarried girl wanted to quickly find her betrothed, then she should have stepped over a broom 9 times, which had never been used before.
  • According to old superstitions, a stranger should not touch the family broom, much less give it to someone.
  • Two brooms cannot live in one house, so having bought new equipment, it is better to immediately say goodbye to the old one - our ancestors believed that this was a sign of failure.
  • Previously, they did not sweep the yard with the same broom that was used to clean the house - they made a broom for this purpose.
  • If the family decides to change their address, then, according to the sign, you should not carry with you a broom that you have already used.
  • prosperity and happiness to reign in the family , you should not clean in the evenings, and do not sweep dirty linens across the threshold.
  • To ward off hail and damage from their garden, our ancestors attached a broom to the inside of the fence, and to protect livestock from disease and the evil eye, they placed it in a barn.
  • To ensure that the baby slept soundly , a broom was placed under his cradle so that evil spirits could not approach him.
  • To attract money and scare away evil spirits, the broom was constantly placed with the bristles up.
  • If a guest comes to you that you don’t like, do as our ancestors did: place a broom (the handle must be at the top) near the door of the house, and he will soon say goodbye to you.

This broom was used to attract prosperity

Ritual to get rid of troubles using a broom-amulet

  • To get rid of troubles, you can use a fairly simple ritual; it should be carried out in the phase of the waning moon.
  • Without any haggling, buy a broom at the market and use it to sweep the floors throughout the house in the direction of the entrance doors. At this time, read the “Our Father” prayer. The rubbish should be collected on paper and taken along with the broom-amulet that served its one-time service as far as possible from your home, and somewhere in a vacant lot, burn it all. You can do it another way: pour out the rubbish at a crossroads, break the broom and leave it in the trash can.
  • No one should witness such a ritual, so it is best to get rid of garbage and brooms in the late evening.

Who made the broom amulet in the old days?

  • the oldest and most experienced women of the clan had the right to make decorative protective brooms Nowadays, few people take this tradition into account, and even young girls have started making such brooms.
  • There is nothing wrong with this, but such an amulet will have less power. Still, it will be better if your mother or grandmother makes a protective broom for you, and then the enormous power coming from a person who sincerely loves you will be concentrated in it. And remember that such an amulet will have great power only if you live under the same roof with your mother or grandmother, who created it with good intentions.
  • A store-bought broom will not have such power, but if you sprinkle it with holy water and think about your deepest desire on it before hanging it on the wall, it will also work as an amulet.

You can make the amulet yourself

What do the elements and symbols on the broom-amulet mean?

How and where to hang a broom-amulet?

The ancient Slavs did not have a specific place for an amulet broom. They could decorate the main entrance with it, placing it on top - both inside and outside the home, the wall of the hallway, the kitchen. Our ancestors believed that not only the place is important for the broom amulet, but also how it is secured.

Can be hung both inside and outside

In order for the broom to protect the inhabitants of the house from evil forces and create a positive aura in it, during pagan times it was positioned so that:

  • the handle was at the bottom (from the outer part of the main entrance) - then the amulet will protect your home, both from evil spirits and from guests whom they do not want to see in this house. It is clear that before there were no multi-story buildings, and all owners could place a broom outside. In an apartment building, the presence of such a talisman above the door will attract everyone's attention, which will take away some of its power. But for private owners this is easier, the main thing is that there is a canopy over the entrance, because precipitation can damage your talisman ahead of time;
  • the handle was at the top (if the broom is placed above the door inside the home) - this way everything bad will be swept out of the house.

It will be great if you hang two brooms above the door - both inside and outside, then they will reflect evil and retain positive energy.

  • on the kitchen wall the handle should be at the top - there it was placed in the place of honor;
  • in the hallway, the handle should also be on top, and the broom should be placed on the wall opposite the entrance.

The meaning of a broom as a talisman among different peoples

The broom as a talisman was very popular among the ancient Slavs. Our ancestors believed in the existence of a patron of the house - the brownie.

They believed that the brownie looked after the home and protected it and its owners from evil forces. The brownie loves warmth very much, so one of his favorite places is the corner behind the stove.

Sometimes the brownie liked to take a nap on a broom, and the owners of the house made sure that it was always clean. It was impossible to use the same broom for a long time. As soon as it wore out, a new one was made from natural materials.

A broom specially made for this purpose was used as a talisman. Brooms-amulets were hung inside and outside the house.

It was believed that they would protect the house from the penetration of evil spirits. Under no circumstances should they be used in the household. Other countries had their own beliefs associated with the broom.

  1. In Ancient China, there were legends about the goddess Xiao Chin. She flew on a broomstick in the skies, conjuring good weather. That's why they called her the Lady with the Broom. If there were long periods of rain, the Chinese would cut out a paper broom and hang it outside the front door. This is how the broom goddess found out who needed her help.
  2. In England and some European countries it is believed that sweeping should not be done in the evening. They believe that at a late hour you can sweep away all the good things from the house with a broom.
  3. In Aztec mythology there was a goddess called Tlazolteotl, the “mud eater.” With the help of a broom made of reeds, she cleansed a person from the vices of debauchery and lust.

How to make a broom-amulet yourself?

There are several options for a homemade broom-amulet. Let's look at them.

Option 1, in which a paint brush will serve as the basis

  • In addition to the grass paint brush, you will also need a sponge, wire, ribbons and special elements - we wrote about them above.
  • The brush should have a wooden handle, and the brush should have a herbal handle. The sponge is placed on the frame and wrapped so that the product takes the shape of a broom.
  • Flexible wire is used to give shape. Next, to decorate your broom, you will need to attach ribbons to its handle, and decorate its lower part with figurines, seeds, nuts - whatever your heart desires.
  • Polish your product so that when dust is swept away from it, it will not be damaged.

Option 2, which uses tree branches and grass

  • Our ancestors most preferred to use birch branches , since they believed that it was in the birch that all the positive properties and light forces were concentrated. Fallen branches are quite suitable for your broom - then the tree will not need to be wounded by cutting off living branches.
  • St. John's wort is the best choice for creating a broom - this herb has strong protective properties, so the amulet will also have considerable power. Other useful herbs that can be combined are also suitable for these purposes, because each of them contains some sacred meaning.
  • When picking herbs for your future amulet, say words of gratitude to them and ask them for forgiveness for the fact that because of you they ceased to exist prematurely. It wouldn’t be superfluous to leave some small, inexpensive thing in that place - this way you will show the forces of nature that you exchanged and did not take something that did not belong to you.
  • Birch twigs and St. John's wort herb will go perfectly together - they are simply tied with a ribbon into a single bundle - and the protective panicle is ready. Just don’t forget to decorate it with those elements with which you want to attract certain benefits to your home.

Option 3, which uses bast and jute threads

  • A bunch of bast will need to be tied on top with a jute rope, making a small knot. Stepping back a little from the first rope ring, we make a second one on the bundle - this will be the handle of your amulet. We straighten the bast below in the form of a fan.
  • After separating a small part of the bast, wrap it with jute thread. And then we do the same with all the other bunches of bast. In this case, we do not cut the rope, but wind small bundles to each other. After decorating with glue with various symbols, your broom will be ready to fulfill its magical mission.

Option 4, in which the broom-amulet is made from an ordinary purchased broom

  • Cut off the long bristles of a new small broom. If you decide to use a large broom for this purpose, then in this case you will have to disassemble it and fold it again in the form of a small broom.
  • When assembling, re-tie its handle with twine very tightly so that your broom does not fall apart during further manipulations. Once trimmed, it will appear round, so to create flat stubble, you will need to separate it into small tufts and braid it using string. You can do this in a circle several times, this will make the product stronger.

You can make it from an ordinary broom.
The amulet broom cannot be left without decoration. A satin, cotton or linen red ribbon, or even a regular red thread (this is a traditional color for a talisman that helps attract love, improve health, and gives beauty to a woman) should be wrapped around the handle. One end of the tape should be glued to it. If the ribbon is satin, then both ends need to be melted using a candle or match. Thin braid is best - it is easier to manage. The bristles of your broom should be decorated with various symbols, and the very bottom should be decorated with braid.

What is a broom amulet made from?

The basic rule that must be followed when creating a talisman for the home: take only natural, high-quality plant materials - for example, twigs, twigs, stems and leaves of herbs or trees. A broom made of synthetic materials is unlikely to be a working amulet.

It is allowed to take objects and decorations made from synthetic materials as decorative elements for the amulet (for example, you can decorate a broom with artificial food: miniature pretzels, fruits or vegetables; or tie ribbons or beads to the amulet for beauty).

So, the basis of the future amulet are twigs - long thin stems of certain trees and shrubs. Most modern brooms are made from the stems of the sorghum plant. There are also brooms made of birch, apple, aspen, wolfberry or millet (such products are now very rare). However, all panicles for creating a talisman from a broom must be made exclusively from natural twigs!

In order to tie the twigs together, use thick threads or wire (it is better to use only threads to create a protective amulet). You can tie bright satin ribbons into the rods for beauty, take a variety of jewelry and decorative elements.

The use of objects made from natural materials will, in addition to the decorative function, provide protection and increase the effectiveness of the amulet:

  • a dried laurel leaf will attract wealth and monetary abundance to your home and help improve your financial situation;
  • flax or sunflower seeds placed on the amulet have a beneficial effect on women’s health, and red pepper – on men’s;
  • a handful of nuts will protect residents from failures and making wrong decisions;
  • a clove of garlic will ward off the evil eye and curses from the house and its inhabitants and strengthen the protective functions of the amulet.

To enhance the effect of the amulet, you should tie a canvas bag on a broom, inside which place one of the above elements.
