Sun stone

In Ancient Greece, amber was considered the stone of the Sun. One of the ancient Greek myths says that radiant and transparent amber are the petrified tears of the daughters of the Sun, who mourned their brother.

The Greeks called this stone electrum , meaning "solar" or "shining". Amber received this name because of its honey-yellow color, shimmering in the rays of light. And also because it is never cold like other stones. Amber is always warm.

Amber: a gem or not, or is it a resin?

None of the types of amber stone are precious; this stone is of organic origin. It does not have a crystalline structure. And in general, calling amber a stone would not be entirely correct. Back in the 19th century, a unanimous decision was made that amber is a fossilized hardened resin of coniferous plants and it takes many millions of years to mature.

The composition of amber includes:

  • Resins.
  • Carbon.
  • Oils.
  • Succinic acid.
  • Impurities of iron, ash, nitrogen and sulfur.

And in practice, this is expressed in the fact that amber interacts especially well with the following names:

  • Anna;
  • Claudia;
  • Taisiya.

What color is the amber stone, what does it look like: types of amber by color, photo

There is a misconception that amber stone only comes in sunny orange or yellow color. Although it must be admitted that stones of these colors are indeed the most common. But in nature there are many types of amber of different colors.

There are several classifications of amber stone. According to transparency they are distinguished:

  • Opaque.

According to the structure, the following varieties of amber are distinguished:

  • Succinite is the most common type mined for industrial purposes. It has many subspecies, differing in color and structure.
  • Gedanite is much less common. Always covered with a layer of colorless oxides. People sometimes call it “rotten”. It has a dirty yellow tint, almost always dark earthy.

The amber palette includes about four hundred shades, from transparent to almost black. Amber acquires its individual color thanks to the conditions in which it was created and the inclusions that were included in it during the period of formation. And also. The greater the amount of succinic acid in a given gem, the darker its shades.

  • Red or cherry is a rare color of amber. It is believed that it acquired its redness during forest fires. The inhabitants of Ancient China held these gems in special esteem.
  • Milky - obtained due to the ingress of microscopic particles of water and small air bubbles into the resin. But in reality, these stones have a normal yellow color.
  • Green – amber acquires this color when it contains impurities from plants or soil.
  • Blue is a rare stone. Amber acquires this shade due to voids that can scatter light and thereby create an optical effect.

Origin of the pebble

The origin of amber has interested humanity since ancient times. Legends were formed and absurd speculations were made about his first appearance. However, already in ancient times (Greek Aristotle) reasonable explanations were made, which were confirmed with the development of science.

The gem is of plant origin. It was formed from the liquid resin of coniferous trees. There is an assumption that the first coniferous trees secreted resin-resin more intensively, in contrast to modern trees. Resin has a protective function. It quickly hardens on the affected area and thus prevents pathogens from entering through the wound.

In those distant times, thick sticky resin flowed abundantly from cracks, forming various figures on the trees:

  • nodules;
  • clots;
  • bunches;
  • drops.

The bizarre formations could not support their own weight and fell to the ground. If the process of resin release was unexpectedly interrupted and resumed after some time, then multilayered figures were formed. Sometimes insects would fly to the smell of resin and, having landed on it, would find themselves captured by the sticky mass. Unable to free themselves, they remained in it forever.

Once in the soil, coniferous resin has undergone numerous physical and chemical transformations over millions of years. In well-ventilated soils saturated with oxygen, the resin turned into solid formations - amber. However, science has never been able to explain the massive formation of stone in a certain period.

What colours are there?

It is a misconception that amber comes in only yellow and orange colors. Its color range also includes the following shades:

  • red;
  • green;
  • lactic;
  • black.

Varieties

Not all amber is the same; it is divided into types and has corresponding names:

  1. Homogeneous, almost transparent structure without voids. This type is valued above others.
  2. Translucent structure. It's called cloudy.
  3. An opaque mineral is a bastard.
  4. The milky white gem is bone. It is recognized in the East as the most healing species.
  5. Fragile, resembling sea foam formations in appearance, this is foamy amber.

And one more interesting point. The stone itself may not exhibit the desired magical properties, because what you combine it with, how to wear it, and how to care for it is of great importance. In the case of such a talisman as amber, you must always remember several nuances:

  1. First of all, amber is best considered as a talisman and amulet , and not as a decoration. Many ladies think that amber looks old-fashioned - but you don’t have to show it off, right? In fact, it is better to hide the amulet from prying eyes and carry it in a soft bag that you can sew with your own hands - this way the stone will tune into your wavelength much faster.
  2. an amber figurine for yourself . In this way, two problems are solved at once - the symbol of the depicted plant or animal, combined with the magical properties of amber, provides double protection for the owner and brings him even faster to his cherished dreams.
  3. Amber draws its energy exclusively from the Sun. On a clear, sunny day, the stone needs to be recharged, but at the same time not allowed to overheat.
  4. It is best to combine the stone with warm-colored clothing or woolen items. Wool represents prosperity, warmth and comfort and harmonizes perfectly with the wave of amber.
  5. Finally, gold and platinum are the best frames to recommend. They are the ones that combine most well both in design and energy.

A symbol of the Sun and goodness - even these two characteristics are quite enough to feel the magical energy of the talisman called amber.

What sign is the amber stone ideal for according to the horoscope?

Amber stone is a symbol of the Sun. Therefore, it has a powerful positive influence on the “fiery” signs of the zodiac, which are patronized by the daylight:

  • Aries
  • a lion
  • Sagittarius, their energy and rebellious spirit are only enhanced by the influence of the sun stone.

But amber is especially ideal for Leos. For this sign, the sunstone becomes the most powerful amulet against black forces, and its energy increases the owner’s vitality.

It is noteworthy that Leos born in August are suited to bright sunny shades of amber. But for those born in July, it is advisable to choose stones of pale colors.

Ideal for Leo

Also, due to the fact that amber has a direct connection with the sea, it is perfect for water signs:

  • Pisces
  • Cancer
  • Scorpios

Water signs of the Zodiac

Amber spent millions of years in the thickness of the salty waters of the ocean, where viscous drops of resin fell. The energy of the fossil is in harmony with the energy of the signs of the Zodiac, whose element is Water, but it comes into some contradictions, since the deposit of amber is often the earth without the participation of water.

For Cancer

The stone forces Cancer to free themselves from suspiciousness and think less about internal experiences. Amber pushes the owner to communicate, helps to show openness, determination, courage, and increase self-esteem. The contradiction here is that Cancer does not always like such openness, so he often refuses to wear the stone.

Amber makes Cancer liberate

For Scorpio

Scorpios are also very secretive by nature, and amber “brings to the surface” their inner world, forcing them to be active, open up to people, live a social life and, to some extent, show off.

Scorpios will prefer amber with inclusions, rich colors and bright colors.

The stone gives strength, promotes emancipation, and encourages social activities, but Scorpio may find itself unclaimed precisely because of this.

The ideal amber for Scorpio should have inclusions

For Pisces

The vivacity and energy of life that amber gives becomes healing for sluggish, weakened and self-absorbed people, which is characteristic of the Pisces sign to a greater extent. Often such obvious pressure frightens them, so Pisces themselves reject the gem.

To exchange energy with amber, you must not only wear jewelry made from it or place it in your home interior, but also periodically communicate and talk with the stone.

For Pisces, amber helps improve health, increases self-esteem and self-confidence. The stone makes all their endeavors successful and helps them share knowledge and talents with society.

Who is contraindicated to wear an amber stone?

  • According to astrologers , people of different zodiac signs can wear amber jewelry, with the exception of Earth signs. Since representatives of these signs are inherently not very active, the energy of bright amber can suppress them, and ultimately make them even lazier and more apathetic.
  • Sunstone is especially contraindicated for Taurus . It may not bring much harm to the owner, but Taurus will not receive any benefit from amber either. On the contrary, the stone can distract representatives of this zodiac sign from important things and will contribute to their irritability and temper.

In general, esotericists claim that amber finds its owner on its own. If a stone does not suit a person, he will definitely feel it and stop wearing it.

No. 4. The “magical” zodiac sign Taurus: which stones are suitable for whom opal and moonstone are suitable

Taurus values home comfort and strong family relationships. At any age, they remain extremely close to their parents and even distant relatives; family holidays are an important event for them, and gifts from family members are more valuable than others. If you are a relative of Taurus and are ready to confirm the validity of such observations, the answer to the question “Which stone is suitable for the Taurus sign?” for you it is clear: opal and moonstone.

Opals are the guardians of the family and “accumulators” of positive emotions received from communication between parents and children, spouses, sisters and brothers. Taurus is most influenced by the Moon, which in precious metals is symbolized by silver. This setting is desirable for opal.

Another answer to the question of what stone Taurus has according to the horoscope: moonstone .
Milky, with a deep inner shine, in the form of a cabochon, it not only appeals to Taurus externally, but also has a spiritual connection with them. The stone awakens clairvoyance skills and expands the boundaries of understanding things. Opal and moonstone in earrings are recommended as gifts for children.

What stones does amber go with?

The compatibility of stones is based on the relationship of the planets associated with them. It should be noted that amber is not a picky stone. It can be combined with many other stones and materials. However, when making jewelry using amber, you need to take into account some features:

  • Jewelry with amber can be complemented with elements from sardonyx, labradorite, and carnelian.
  • The energy of amber is enhanced by semi-precious stones such as turquoise, rock crystal or carnelian.
  • Amber in brown shades is better combined with silver than with gold.
  • A yellow or red stone looks harmonious in a gold frame.

It is not recommended to combine amber with onyx, hematite and heliotrope.

Who should refrain from purchasing amber?

In the question of who amber is suitable for according to their zodiac sign, the answer can be: almost everyone. Bright positive shades always amuse the eye and delight the soul. Even intuitively, we strive for warm shades, because this is light, flame, and therefore hearth, family and comfort. Ancient primal instincts have stood the test of time. True, now it is called design, but before it was called the language of symbols.

In the case of amber, this language works especially brightly - the stone can serve as a talisman for all representatives of the sky. However, there is one exception - Taurus. These people are distinguished by the constancy of their habits, they like to walk the beaten path and are unlikely to dare to make significant changes, even if they promise all earthly blessings. A bird in hand is what Taurus holds securely in his strong economic hands.

Amber, with its originality of origin, will always catch the eye. This is not to say that this is bad. Simply bright, luminous shades are unlikely to please a Taurus - subconsciously these people may feel as if they want to hide from the stone, not to look at its too bright surface. Therefore, we can recommend either giving up the choice altogether, or at least trying to feel the energy of amber before making a final decision.

Amber stone: where can you find it?

Interestingly, in regions where amber is common, people do not consider this stone to be a particularly valuable material. There is especially a lot of it on the Baltic coast and in the Kaliningrad region. Periodically, it is thrown ashore by waves. And on the coast you can often meet people looking for amber.

Search for amber

The Sun Stone is also found in other countries:

  • USA.
  • Sicily (very rare blue and purple rocks are mined here).
  • Canada.
  • Poland.
  • Romania.
  • Ukraine.
  • Germany.
  • Dominican Republic (amber from this region has an unusual teardrop shape, so it is valued higher).
  • Japan (expensive striped amber is mined in this country).

Origin and properties of amber

Amber is a fossilized resin of coniferous trees from the distant Paleolithic era. In the process of evolution of the plant kingdom and as a result of sharp warming, giant cypresses, pines and sequoias began to bleed plant juice - resin.

In air, the resin (resin) solidified and over millions of years, under the influence of physical and chemical factors, acquired shape, color, and formed entire placers. On the way of the resin, plants came across, insects froze in an eternal prehistoric summer, acquiring immortality in an amber sarcophagus.

The sizes of amber vary widely - from the smallest grains of sand to individual specimens reaching the size of a goose egg, weighing several kilograms.

Thanks to different “maturing” conditions, amber has more than 300 shades. The most famous and familiar are yellow and red minerals, large deposits of which are found in the Kaliningrad region, the Baltic countries and Lebanon. There are rare minerals of green and blue amber, mined in small quantities in the Dominican Republic.

If you choose a gemstone based on its significance and beneficial properties, amber could become a leader, if only for its healing properties and for the fact that humanity owes it the discovery of electricity. To create a monument to amber from a variety of shades, connoisseurs of beauty would choose green, the best examples of which are found in the Caribbean Sea. Green amber, whose properties are largely decorative, is considered one of the most expensive stones and is in demand among jewelers.

The properties of amber differ from all known precious stones:

  • burns well
  • it's easy to dissolve
  • capable of becoming electrified
  • relatively soft and brittle, but very ductile

Amber is a conventionally precious stone - it is a mineral of organic origin, consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, plus various impurities in the form of compounds and chemical elements.

How to distinguish amber from a stone on the beach: signs and differences

Pieces of amber can be found independently on the Baltic beaches.

To find this gem on the sea coast, you need to properly prepare:

  • Choose summer days for your search, when the sea water is relatively warm.
  • Take a flashlight with you.
  • It is better to search after a storm, when the sea washes black algae ashore.
  • Rake up the algae and inspect carefully.
  • You can also wade in knee-deep water, shining a flashlight along the bottom. In the beam of the flashlight, the amber will sparkle.

Distinguish real amber from false

Sometimes it is difficult to understand that this is real amber, since in its raw form it looks little different from ordinary stones.

Therefore, if you are lucky and you find a piece of stone that looks like amber, it is worth checking it out:

  • Place the stone in a glass of very salty water. The amber should float to the surface.
  • Apply a very hot needle to the stone. The amber should have a pine scent.
  • Rub the stone with a soft cloth. Amber is well electrified.
  • You can set fire to a pebble on one side. Real amber will begin to burn and emit a pleasant smell.
