Rhodolite stone - properties, meaning and influence on various signs of the Zodiac

Rhodolite is a precious fossil stone that experienced jewelers use to make elegant, status jewelry. The natural mineral is inlaid into decorative elements of bracelets, pendants, earrings and business accessories (writing pens, desk clocks and boxes).

The impressive gem of a rich “healthy” color was confused with ruby and spinel, since these natural stones are very difficult to distinguish visually. With the advent of modern analytical methods, gemologists have determined that Ruby, Spinel, and Garnet are not the same mineral.

History and origin

The name of the gem, translated from Greek, means a double phrase “rhodon - rose” and “lithos - stone”. The fossil gem, mined in mountain quarries, is naturally similar to a frozen mythical stone flower.

The great conqueror Alexander the Great, who ruled in Ancient Greece, kept unique precious stones in his treasuries, among which were gems - natural crystals with images carved on them.

Gems were used as signets and cameos (Hellenic symbols of exquisite beauty). Rhodolite crystal is an excellent raw material for making these luxurious accessories. The material is quite pliable for the carver and the finished products become works of art.

The legendary royal cup “Hungarian Celych”, dating back to the sixteenth century, is decorated with rhodolite inserts, as well as other varieties of garnet.

In 1959, rhodolite was identified and separated into a separate species of the group of garnet gems by the American mineralogist Andersen, who described this mineral and its significance for humans.

The luxurious “crystal” appearance of rhodolite made it possible to confuse it with noble spinel and other garnets: Almandine and Pyrope.

Magical influence

In what areas does it provide assistance?

Let us list the positive magical properties of rhodolite stone:

  • Makes the owner less impulsive and more reasonable.
  • Enhances charm and helps overcome shyness when communicating with people.
  • Promotes promotion through the ranks. But it only helps those who work hard. If you just sit in the office and do nothing to advance your career, the positive impact will be weak.
  • Provides leadership qualities. It is considered the stone of leaders and politicians.
  • Restrains the owner in conflict situations, strengthens self-control and prevents impulsive decisions.

To take advantage of the magical properties of rhodolite, you need to purchase jewelry with this stone and wear it as often as possible.

Amulets, amulets and talismans

Rhodolite protects a person, preventing him from making fatal mistakes. It is able to keep the owner from making wrong decisions that could harm him in the future.

A talisman made from natural rhodolite will help you find happiness in love, find your other half to live with and create a strong family. A lonely person with such a talisman will become very attractive to people of the opposite sex.

Equally important, rhodolite helps you make informed decisions, so it is advisable to wear it for important business negotiations.

The magic contained in natural rhodolite seals the marriage union. If both spouses wear jewelry with it, love, harmony and passion will reign in the relationship.

Place of Birth

Natural crystals of the mineral, with a glassy sheen, are found in quarries in the form of phenocrysts of a rock abrasive mass. Large nuggets are very rare - as a rule, rhodolites have a small mass. Pomegranate crystals are very similar to fruit (pomegranate) seeds, therefore they are considered “living” symbols of fertility.

The world's deposits - “garnet mines” are located in mountainous regions in African countries, on the island of Sri Lanka, and also in Australia. In Russia, this ornamental stone is mined near Yekaterinburg, as well as in the bowels of the Yakut mines.

Ural crystals are considered the most energetically valuable, charged with powerful energy flows from the possessions of the “Mistress of the Copper Mountain”. The legendary mines have been developed since the eighteenth century and are described in the stories of the famous Ural storyteller Pavel Bazhov.

The most famous large Rhodolite weighing 43.3 carats (cut ≈14 carats).

Where is rhodolite mined?

One of the most famous and profitable deposits of rhodolite is located in Africa, in Tanzania. Very high quality gems are mined in this country. Good samples are also brought from Kenya and Zimbabwe.

The mineral is also mined in Sri Lanka, the USA and Australia. Some of the countries in the Scandinavian region can boast of deposits.

In our places there are also fire crystals. They are found in Karelia and Yakutia, on the Kola Peninsula. Unfortunately, their quality is very inferior to African nuggets.

Physical properties

The crystal has a “delicious” berry color, which depends on the mineral impurities present in the “body” of the stone. The value of the extracted raw materials is determined by the color saturation and transparency of the stone mass itself. Rare purple or “dense” pink shades are very popular among professional jewelers for making brooches, rings and other exclusive designer sets, as well as accessories.

Natural stones with the alexandrite effect are especially highly valued, as they are capable of creating a paradoxical optical effect. The color of the crystal depends on the type of illumination. In artificial light the stone appears pink, and in natural light it appears greenish. This unique feature is very rare and is therefore prized in jewelry.

There were, are and will be fakes

Pliny the Elder wrote in his Natural History:

“There is no fraud or deception in the world that would bring more benefits than counterfeiting precious stones.”

Such a beautiful stone, of course, is faked.

We recommend: HERKIMER DIAMOND

In the 20th century, physicists and chemists obtained a synthetic garnet - YAG (yttrium aluminum garnet). Jewelers immediately began to use artificial gems. It was called daimonic, garnetite, tsirolite. If, when purchasing jewelry, you see these unknown names of the stone on the tag, just know that it is an artificial rhodolite.

Under the guise of rhodolite, they can sell ordinary glass, painted in the colors of “Cape ruby”. Such fakes differ from natural rhodolite in the complete absence of microcracks, inclusions, and microdefects. A regular magnifying glass with 10x magnification can help you see them in the body of the stone.

Take a closer look at the stone - soft tints of color, a combination of tones close to each other will help you distinguish a genuine gem.

Synthetic stones do not have halftone transitions or slight color inhomogeneity.

A very large gem should alert you. Small pyropes are common in nature. The stone, the size of a wild raspberry, is either fake or extremely rare.

Medicinal properties

The mineral composition of the substances that make up the basis of rhodolite is enriched with natural impurities, which give a bright, delicate shade to the processed jewelry stone.

Female crystal

In eastern countries, it is believed that rhodolite crystal favors women, helps them bear a child during pregnancy, enhances their beauty and tenderness, and treats gynecological diseases. The pink gem promotes happy motherhood and “gives” them a healthy glow.

Crystal for gentlemen

For men, the active stone is useful because it treats diseases of the pancreas, increases immune status and metabolism, as it activates the activity of the pancreas and thyroid glands.

Healing stone plates are suitable for improving vision and healing diseases of the respiratory system. Experienced lithotherapists recommend wearing processed rhodolite crystals on the body in the form of a pendant to maintain normal physiological functions of internal organs.

Red stone

In the Middle Ages, all natural nuggets of red and pink shades mined at the mines were called the term “lal” (after the name of the Pamir deposit Kuhi-Lal, in which the red mineral stone was found for the first time). In ancient manuscripts, red crystals are described by healers with the following phrase: “Useful as a medicine for rosy cheeks, a healthy stomach, and keen eyes.”

“Ruddy” mineral helps treat depression, low emotional mood, and mental disorders. A bright transparent stone reflects sunlight, emits its own energy waves, which pleases the eye, reduces the level of anxiety and fatigue in stressful situations or when overworked.

Therapeutic effect

What diseases does it fight?

Rhodolite helps with nervous disorders: stress and insomnia. Just look at it for a few minutes and your anxiety will go away. It improves mood, relieves fatigue, and “drives away” depression.

It helps men regain lost sexual desire and stabilizes their intimate life.

The mineral is indicated for stomach diseases and poisoning, improves immunity, and reduces the risk of cold-viral seasonal infections. If you have difficulties with the respiratory system, a rhodolite pendant will help.

Special power: bracelets, earrings, rings

Women are recommended to wear rhodolite jewelry on their right wrist. The bracelet will help its owner to “bloom,” become prettier and, as a result, become more attractive in the eyes of men.

Earrings with rhodolite will make a woman more passionate and develop creative imagination. Rings will improve your overall well-being, help you achieve what you want, and give you strength.

Magic properties

In the Russian tradition, this nugget was called “Orlets” because these bright stones were found in mountain eagle nests. Therefore, children's talismans were made from the gem - amulets that were hung over the cradle with the baby. It was believed that the guardian crystal emits magical waves that protect the baby, maintain his health and sharp vision (like an eagle).

In the poetry and literature of many countries, the garnet bracelet is sung by poets as a symbol of the flame of love. Unique jewelry with a stone - rhodolite jewelry - enhances the subtle energy of its owner, attracts material wealth to him, and sets him up for noble achievements.

The precious mineral has the wonderful ability to calm and pacify a narrow circle of people who interact with its owner, surrounding them with goodwill and vitality.

Ancient sorcerers and wizards made rhodolite amulets for magical control over the process of conception, fetal ripening, a serene pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child with a happy destiny.

Eastern sages endowed rhodolite garnet with magical powers that induce illusory dreams during meditation. The original crystal is considered a symbol of Divine protection.

The magic stone rhodolite should be worn in a gold frame of an exquisite necklace, or a massive bracelet or ring.

Magic protection of pomegranate

The stone – rhodolite with black veins – belongs to the category of classic home amulets. A figurine, box or frame for a table clock made of pink garnet protects your home and family from assassination attempts, robbers, and petty thieves. In addition, a “living” amulet with a stone protects family members from slander and black magic.

Like all natural pomegranates, its pink variety is a symbol of the hearth and home, so the eagle maintains good relations between family members and fends off any negative influence.

An excellent wedding gift “with meaning” is a rhodolite talisman that “fits” into the family aura of a young couple - it controls, balances, and smoothes out contradictions.

The wise eagle is very useful for newlyweds, as it helps to avoid numerous mistakes that inexperienced young husbands and wives make in establishing marital relationships. Decorative jewelry made of rhodolite with veins patronizes family, home comfort, prosperity and mutual understanding.

Rhodolite and magic

The magical properties of rhodolite made it famous in the world of witches and wizards. The fire stone can become an excellent talisman and amulet. It all depends on who is wearing it and how they are going to use it.

Its useful qualities:

  • Garnet, which is essentially rhodolite, has long been considered a love talisman. Magicians believe that he is able to bewitch a man. Although perhaps the truth is that the red crystal simply emphasizes female sexuality, which influences the attraction of the opposite sex.
  • At all times, it was customary to defend against evil spirits with fire. Women suspected of witchcraft were burned at the stake, and to cleanse the home, all rooms had to be walked around with a candle in hand. The fiery energy of rhodolite is also capable of scaring away evil. The stone can protect an individual or his entire family.
  • The red crystal is also associated with the fire of the hearth. If you leave a product made from such a gem in the common room, there will be fewer quarrels in the family and more joy and happiness.
  • The stone leads its owner to success. He won't do all the work for him, no. But it will direct you in the right direction, give you strength and confidence. Such a talisman will be needed by those who decided to open their own business and wanted to get creative.

Possessing a large reserve of power, rhodolite is still capable of exhausting itself. No fire, contrary to legends and folk tales, burns forever. Regularly feeding the stone with energy will deplete its reserves.

A rhodolite talisman is considered universal. It suits both men and women equally well. When choosing, it is more important to consider not gender, but energy compatibility.

So at one moment it may simply break. Sometimes in the most literal sense - to split. There's no point in worrying about the loss. You should say goodbye to the talisman, thank him for his help and simply get a new assistant.

Jewelry with mineral

Decorative items made from “stone rose” carry the romantic image of this royal flower, which is worshiped by both knights famous in history and ordinary modern people. The stone looks very impressive - a semi-precious purple gem in a garnet bracelet - which has become a symbol of love fire.

Products of modern design, decorated with inserts of small natural pink garnet crystals, are quite expensive. The price of jewelry depends on the number of “grains” of faceted rhodolite: one carat of a jewelry stone costs 1,500-2,000 rubles. The weighted average commercial price is in the “corridor” from 5,000 to 15,000 rubles.

Plates and inserts made of artificial stone are quite affordable for the wallet of a poor buyer.

Rare large specimens of high jewelry quality that have passed the official gemological quality examination are extremely expensive. The largest pink garnet found in the rock weighed almost forty-four carats. Only a very rich person who uses this product as a profitable investment can buy such an exclusive nugget.

Jewelry inlaid with decorative synthetic crystals has a fairly high consumer popularity due to its low cost.

Physicochemical characteristics

Crystals measuring 2 cm in size and weighing 1–2 carats are more common. Minerals weighing over 15 carats are considered unique specimens of rhodolite. But the larger the stone, the richer and darker its color. Gem lovers have to make a choice between size and color.

The chemical formula of the stone is (Mg, Fe2+)3Al2(SiO4)3.

Basic physical and optical properties of rhodolite:

  • transparency - translucent or transparent;
  • refractive index -1.76;
  • average density - 3.88;
  • hardness on the Mohs scale - 7.25;
  • glass shine;
  • lack of cleavage;
  • conchoidal fracture;
  • cubic system.

Transparent rhodolites, clear as a tear, are valued, but more often they find crystals with mineral, gas inclusions of a thread-like, needle-shaped form.

Varieties

Transparent pink garnet has a high refractive index of light, so the cut stone “comes to life” in the daytime in natural light. Single crystals used in jewelry production have the following “berry” color gradation:

  • pink;
  • scarlet;
  • purple-pink.

Experienced experts say that all types of semi-precious pink garnet can be used as jewelry inserts.

Opaque rhodolites are ornamental gems suitable for making figurines, crossbars, lids and other decorative design elements.

Colors and varieties of rhodolite stone

Rhodolite is very rich in shades.
In nature, there are rhodolites of various tones. They range from light pink to dark purple. There are stones of bright red color. However, they are rare. Special attention should be paid to the alexandrite effect inherent in the gem. If you look at it from different angles, its tone changes. In addition, the stone changes shade depending on the type of lighting.

How to distinguish natural stone from fake?

Expensive single crystals or cabochons have individual certificates that describe the characteristics and origin stories of the stones, so such a document is a guarantee of authenticity and justification for the financial investment.

Practical recommendations for determining the authenticity of a stone

It must be remembered that natural rhodolites are always very small - they are inclusions in the accompanying rock. Large crystals should cause healthy skepticism and alert a potential buyer.

It is easy to distinguish a natural mineral from a fake using a magnet. Fake crystals are ordinary colored glass, so the purpose of the experiment is to prove the presence of iron impurities (magnetism) in the gem. Home study steps:

  1. The stone is placed on an electronic scale and the mass is measured.
  2. The magnet is brought to the tray on which the crystal is located at a distance of one centimeter.
  3. The mass is measured again.

A genuine nugget will become lighter due to its magnetic attraction. The “glass” will not respond to a magnet because it is a dummy.

Synthetic jewelry crystals visually look decorative and very elegant. Artificial garnets are “collected” into designer sets consisting of necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and earrings, which can be purchased at an affordable price in the regular gems department of a jewelry store.

Laboratory pink rhinestones are aesthetically attractive, but “cold” and “soulless”. The difference in price between natural and “grown” crystals is several thousand times different.

Astrological compatibility

What zodiac signs is it suitable for?

Rhodolite and the zodiac signs of the element of fire - Leo and Sagittarius - are ideally compatible. The mineral has the best compatibility with them. Rhodolite will help Leos find inner harmony, pacify anger, eliminate intolerance for the mistakes of other people, give energy and help direct it to creation rather than destruction.

For Sagittarius, rhodolite will help you choose the right area for self-realization and achieve what you want. He will give this zodiac sign strength that will help him withstand difficulties. It will prevent you from doing bad things and will help you find love.

There will be no harm

Representatives of other zodiac signs can also wear this mineral; it will not harm them, but the positive effect will be much less. What sign is absolutely useless to wear rhodolite is Aquarius. It has no effect on him at all.

As you can see, the zodiac sign affects rhodolite and its properties individually.

Why do you dream

Seeing this pinkish stone in a dream is considered a good sign.

It symbolizes loyalty and devotion. And also that the person will soon develop a new unexpected talent, perhaps psychic.

Caring for stone products

Decorative items made of transparent pink garnet, inlaid into a gold jewelry setting, require careful handling and care. Everyday use of a gem can lead to thinning, abrasions, and cracks on the surface of the mineral, because this gem is fragile and is not intended for frequent wearing.

Decorative garnet decoration is intended as an elegant “going out” accessory. The pebble should be stored in a flannel or velvet lining, laid on a flat surface.

Any defects that “injure” the petal of the mythical “stone rose” significantly spoil the appearance of both the crystal itself and disrupt the design of the entire decoration. The garnet mineral must be regularly cleaned of dust and washed in warm salted water with soap suds.

Product price

Interesting jewelry is made from precious crystals. More often, jewelers create the following products:

  1. Earrings. Small and large stones are placed in metal or left uncut. Various compositions are created from the material: floral, geometric, symbolic. The gem loves gold, but with the right approach it looks great in silver.
  2. Rings. More often, stones of different sizes are placed on the surface of the product: smaller ones are placed around larger ones. Jewelers create a design, a pattern that is difficult to convey in words. A ring with Rhodolite is considered masculine, but this does not mean that women need to abandon such products.

The price depends on the color, shape and size. Approximate cost of jewelry:

  • strawberry-colored stone of 3.5 carats – 12 thousand rubles;
  • purple stone of 4.8 carats – 12 thousand rubles;
  • crimson 6.6 carats - more than one hundred thousand rubles.

The stone is used to create shine for the eyes. Green-eyed beauties prefer such cosmetics. Its price is from 200 rubles.

Compatibility with names and zodiac signs

Pink granite belongs to the “red” gems, which are patronized by the planet Mars, therefore the fiery, impulsive nature of a natural crystal can provoke hyperactivity, nervousness, emotional instability, leading to nervous exhaustion. Ancient stargazers believed that two more planets corresponded to this stone: Mercury and Pluto.

With such a diverse combination, the astrological properties of rhodolite have a positive effect on people born in the cold winter period. Warming the owner’s feelings and emotions with its flame, the pink gem forms a “pink” astral aura, enhancing the sexual attractiveness of its “patron”.

The regal and stable zodiac sign Leo is the second “partner” of the bright garnet, for whom this jewel is suitable, as it promotes the mobility and activity of the “red cat”.

Aquarians are not recommended to wear garnet jewelry, since this interaction causes mutual cancellation.

Stylish jewelry for mysterious names

Delicate, “ruddy” pomegranate is perfect for bearers of the following names:

  • Vasilisa.
  • Inna.
  • Boris.
  • Gabriel.
  • Klim.

Noble rhodolite is ideal for girls and ladies of Balzac age with the regal name Vasilisa (Vesena). For a wise princess, a status gift inlaid with pink garnet would be appropriate - in this case, the compatibility of the mineral and personality will be unsurpassed.

Zodiac compatibility

You always want to know whether a mineral matches your zodiac sign. Rhodolite is no exception; it does not love all constellations, but is not dangerous for them. You just have to admit that the mineral will help some, but for others it will just be a decoration. Perfect Compatibility:

  1. Lions. They will become patient, kind, open. Leo will find harmony in his inner world and stop arguing with himself. The sign will feel a surge of energy and positivity.
  2. Sagittarius. The signs will find their place in life, understand their purpose, and achieve maximum growth in their careers, science, and creativity. Sagittarius will become sensual and find their mate faster.

Which sign is Rhodolite indifferent to? This is Aquarius. His emotionality is similar to a mineral, so no help is required and the mineral next to him goes out.

Recommendations for purchasing an eagle accessory

When buying jewelry with pink garnet inserts, you need to adhere to the following basic rules:

  • Request from the seller a cash and sales receipt, which indicates the characteristics of the inlay.
  • Carry out a small color photo shoot of the purchased product from different angles.

Experienced experts recommend purchasing exclusive pink garnet single crystals in the form of jewelry inserts , since a specialized license is required to trade natural precious crystals.

Historically, the market price of fossil garnets increases significantly along with the price par, which is very attractive for financial investments in precious stones.

Types and characteristics of products with rhodolite

Women's jewelry with natural minerals is presented in a huge variety:

  1. Rings and rings look elegant and will complement any look from casual business to formal. Women and girls are recommended to wear products on their left hand.
  2. Earrings with rhodolites will never lose their relevance and will look great on a lady of any age.
  3. Pendants are also popular. Due to the small size of the stone, such products are laconic and appropriate for both teenage girls and elegant women.
  4. Bracelets with crimson and purple-pink minerals are popular and can become a self-sufficient accent of any look.

Jewelry for men includes rings, cufflinks and tie clips . Stones of a thick dark purple hue are used to make them. Such men's jewelry with a rare mineral emphasizes status and taste.

How to wear jewelry with rhodolite, care rules

Jewelry with a natural semi-precious stone can become a talisman and healer for the owner.

To fully use the healing power of rhodolite, you should wear products with it correctly:

  1. Rings and signet rings are recommended for single people to wear . This will open the heart chakra and make a person attractive in the eyes of the opposite sex.
  2. Bracelets with rhodolite are worn on the right wrist.
  3. The pendant must be worn so that the stone touches the body and not the clothes, so that there is no interference with energy exchange.

A beautiful bright purple crystal requires compliance with some rules of care:

  1. The stone should be washed regularly under running cold water, then wiped dry with a soft cloth. This procedure should be carried out every 3-4 days.
  2. Wipe daily with a dry soft cloth: this will maintain shine and remove dust.
  3. Rhodolite needs natural energy, so it is recommended to take jewelry with it on vacation.

Jewelry with pink crystals should be stored separately from other jewelry in a bag made of natural fabrics.

History of rhodolite

— Advertising —

In Greek, the term “rhodolite” means “pink stone”; it was named so due to its delicate and beautiful color. The gem has long been confused with spinels, rubies, garnets, and garamantines, although the stone has been known for quite a long time. Thus, it is believed that this mineral was especially valued by Alexander the Great. And Loretta’s “Hungarian Kelikh” (16th century) was decorated with large samples of rhodolite.

However, rhodolite was identified as a precious and independent mineral only in the mid-20th century by the mineralogist Anderson.

Who is suitable according to their zodiac sign?

Rhodolite is ideal for the fire triad and the January sign of the zodiac constellations. According to the horoscope, this is a protective talisman for Leo, Sagittarius, Aries, Capricorn. The crystal teaches the former to treat others with understanding, to communicate with friends and acquaintances on equal terms. Attracts money, good luck, protects from enemies. For Aries and Sagittarius who cannot find their place in life, the mineral helps them make the right choice and make their dreams come true. The amulet increases sexual energy, which brings the moment of starting a family closer.

It’s also interesting to read: Salt is protection and amulet from damage and the evil eye.

Rhodolite stone also does not remain indifferent to other signs of the Zodiac, but to a lesser extent. The crystal provides support to the signs patronized by Mercury, Pluto - Aquarius, Libra, Gemini.

The water element contradicts the fire element, so the mineral has a complex relationship with Scorpios, Pisces, and Cancers. You shouldn’t expect magical help from the gem, but it won’t cause much harm, other than minor troubles. Aquarius is similar in energy to rhodolite. The influence of the stone can bring physical illness and mental disorders. It is better to choose a crystal that matches your horoscope. The mineral is indifferent to other signs of the zodiac circle.

Rules of care

In order to extend the durability and beauty of the mineral, it is important to know the rules for caring for it. Failure to comply with the nuances will lead not only to the loss of the beauty of the stone, but also its quality.

The mineral should be stored in a separate box, wrapped in soft cloth.

To clean, just wipe it regularly with a flannel rag.

To clean it, it is better to rinse the stone with running water once a month. During the cleaning process, do not use a brush or abrasive substances. Do not use hot water for cleaning. To nourish rhodolite, place it near grass or flowers for several hours. While wearing the product, you should avoid prolonged contact of the stone with the sun's rays.

How to wear

  1. It is important that the mineral has contact with the body. This way he can show a healing effect on the body. In particular, it is useful to wear a pendant or pendant.
  2. It is also one of the few stones that can be worn every day.
  3. Young girls planning to attract the attention of the opposite sex should wear a bracelet with a mineral on their right hand, which increases feminine energy.
  4. Rhodolite is a peaceful stone because it does not enter into energetic disputes with other jewelry and stones
  5. It is recommended to be worn by people of all ages and for any occasion. A worthy setting is silver and gold.

Description and history of the mineral

Rhodolite stone is originally a bright plum shade, but when exposed to sunlight it loses its brightness and becomes deep pink or almost transparent. This property is associated with confusion in the history of the mineral. It was often mistaken for spinel or pyrope (a type of garnet). Enterprising deceivers sold it under the guise of a pomegranate. Only in the second half of the 20th century, a mineralogist identified a separate classification for rhodolite and assigned it to the garnet family.

In ancient Greek mythology, the origin of the gem is associated with the charming nymph Rhoda, the daughter of the patron of the seas, Poseidon. The young beauty and the sun god Helios fell in love with each other. The time that they had to spend apart, when the Sun God went to heaven, was difficult for Rhoda and she shed crystal clear pink tears on the Earth. This is how deposits of the mineral garnet rhodolite appeared.
