Symbol meaning
The Moon is a talisman of female fertility.
The ancients believed that the Moon has a particularly strong influence on women. This is largely due to the fact that the female menstrual cycle often coincides with the lunar cycle. Thus, ancient women often asked the night luminary for help. Moreover, there were special rituals to increase female attractiveness by “bathing” in the light of the full moon.
The new month is responsible for fertility, so women often painted its image on clothes and underwear, especially if they wanted to get pregnant. This is where the tradition began of giving a young girl a lunnica as a gift - a small talisman or pendant in the shape of a new moon. It was believed that such a talisman would not only protect against the evil eye, but also help to find true feminine happiness.
Later, starting from the 15th century, lunnitsa began to be widely used in decorations. Lunnitsa earrings could be found mainly on rich women, but the Lunnitsa pendant was simply made from improvised items, so every woman could make such a talisman.
Properties of the new moon amulet:
- protection from other people's influence;
- enhancing female attractiveness;
- successful conception of a child;
- ensuring easy childbirth and long lactation;
- strengthening the spiritual connection with your husband;
- attracting wealth to the house.
This amulet is considered to be primarily feminine, so men do not wear it.
Moreover, the ancients believed that if a man wears a moon, he will lose some of his strength. Today, esotericists claim that the Lunnitsa amulet is necessary for every woman who cannot find her happiness.
A correctly enchanted talisman makes its owner more attractive in the eyes of men. The positive influence of the amulet is also manifested by improved well-being, normalization of sleep, achievement of goals and internal harmony.
Magical properties of Lunnitsa
Lunnitsa is an ancient amulet that personifies the main qualities of women. Their main purpose in ancient times was considered to be procreation, creating comfort in the home, and caring for the family.
The meaning of the Lunnitsa amulet for women is the embodiment of the pure feminine principle, including such qualities as tenderness, affection, comfort, care, and tranquility.
The magic of the lunar amulet will help:
- strengthen feminine traits - tenderness, softness, lightness, calmness, wisdom;
- support and strengthen a woman’s strength in ensuring the well-being of the family, comfort, and mutual understanding in the home;
- to reveal creative potential and the gift of foresight, if a woman has such abilities;
- protect people from envy and negativity;
- improve the health of the owner;
- speed up conception and maintain excellent health throughout the entire pregnancy.
The magical properties of the Lunnitsa are revealed and become more powerful after a certain time: the longer the owner has the amulet, the stronger its energy.
What does the mascot look like?
Traditionally, the lunnitsa amulet repeated the outline of the new moon, which turned its horns upward. The silver or gold moonlit was additionally decorated with the image of the full moon to enhance female attractiveness. Also, Slavic lunar amulets can be decorated with precious stones, enamel or other decorative elements. Unlike other protective amulets, the moon does not have to be hidden under clothing. In this regard, the amulet is often made in the form of expensive jewelry that emphasizes the status of a woman.
Lunnitsa is often decorated with the face of the goddess Makosh. This amulet gains great power and helps fight female infertility.
Lunnitsa, the meaning of which is very great, can be given to any woman. This amulet can be bought at a jewelry or esoteric store, or even made yourself.
Traditionally, the moon for women was made of white metal, so the amulet acquired greater significance, because silver has always been associated with the light of the moon. Even if pendants and pendants with a moon are made of gold, silver elements are always present on the amulet.
The influence of the Lunnitsa tattoo on fate and character
The Lunnitsa tattoo is one of the rare images that brings only harmony and prosperity to its owner in life. Such a talisman cannot be lost; it will always be “close to the body.” It is designed to protect the owner from negativity and dark forces.
The Moon is the most suitable symbol for those who want to find love and start a family. A tattoo with the image of the Moon is done to:
- become more attractive;
- meet a loved one destined by fate;
- strengthen marriage and maintain happiness in the family;
- develop magical abilities and intuition, learn to predict events;
- experience the joy of motherhood.
For successful conception and childbirth, a tattoo with the three-horned Moon is made. A bunch of grapes is depicted in the center of the symbol.
Girls who wear Lunnitsa tattoos are very attractive to the opposite sex. Their marriages are large, harmonious and strong, and they themselves are feminine and charming.
The lunnitsa is also suitable for men. You just need to depict it with its horns up, then it will give masculinity, fortitude and endurance. Such a man will be considered an exemplary family man. The classic position of the Moon is feminine and unfavorable for a man.
How to wear Lunnitsa?
If a girl is pregnant, then it is best to protect herself by wearing a lunar lantern.
A lunar lantern is a talisman whose meaning covers several areas of life at once. This symbol increases wealth in the home, improves women's health and attractiveness, and gives confidence in their abilities. Such a talisman can be considered an amplifier of all positive feminine qualities. Lunnitsa symbolizes the moon and the feminine principle, so it is absolutely not suitable for men. You can wear such a talisman however you like. The ancients believed that the moon came out into the sky to “show off,” so it was not customary to hide amulets with its symbols under clothes. In this regard, Lunars were often demonstrated to others in the form of jewelry or even items of clothing.
Interesting! A Slavic hair decoration in the shape of a month is also a lunar amulet.
If the amulet is charged and activated in a special way, it is better to hide it under clothes. Such a talisman becomes very powerful, so it should be kept secret. Ordinary jewelry in the shape of a month can be safely shown to others. Earrings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets with moonflower will decorate any woman.
Lunnitsa used to be embroidered on clothes, bed linen and underwear. The embroidery was charged in a special way and worn so as to come into contact with the skin. Today, this method of using a talisman can be taken into account by those who do not want to demonstrate to others their interest or knowledge of security symbols and Slavic magic.
Who is it suitable for?
Most often, people with such a tattoo are fraught with some kind of mystery. Such people prefer to bypass mass parties. Leisure of the “people of the moon”: solitude in nature. These are creative and subtle natures. Such people believe in the existence of unicorns, the power of magic, and know hundreds of superstitions.
The Moon is chosen by writers, artists, poets and musicians for whom originality and independence are important. Women and girls find the moon attractive because it helps reveal femininity and sensuality. In men, the moon on the contrary activates brutality. In this case, the meaning depends on the image of the moon and a well-chosen composition.
How to choose or make a talisman?
Choosing a talisman or amulet Lunnitsa is not an easy task. First, you need to decide what a woman expects from a talisman. If you want to get an interesting piece of jewelry with protective properties, you can safely go to a jewelry store. You won’t be able to find a really strong talisman there, but a large assortment of symbolic jewelry will not leave anyone indifferent. You should choose an amulet pendant made of silver or white gold. It would be good if the goddess Makosh was depicted in the center of the decoration. It is easy to charge such an amulet yourself, making it a really strong amulet. The moonlit can be decorated with stones. In this case, preference is given to light precious and semi-precious stones.
Note! Jade, moonstone, opal, and “cat's eye” will help strengthen the amulet. Despite the fact that they are not expensive materials, from time immemorial they have been associated with the moon.
The meaning or significance of the Lunnitsa amulet can be enhanced if a special ritual is performed to activate the amulet. It is better to do this with amulets made by yourself.
You can make a lunnitsa yourself from beads, wire, or wood. It represents an inverted month, decorated with various symbols. To strengthen the amulet, you can also depict various Slavic runes on the amulet, the effect of which impresses the person.
A moonlit embroidered on the baby's clothes or bedding will help protect a girl child from the evil eye. It is recommended to do embroidery on a white canvas using white threads. The same method should be adopted by all women who want to make a talisman, but are afraid to show it to others.
How to do it yourself?
Before starting work on making a talisman, you need to choose its type, in accordance with its main purpose. The ornament is selected depending on the purpose set for the talisman.
Women needlewomen embroider Lunnitsa on clothes, hats, and carve them out of leather. The amulet is also woven from beads or jewelry wire. Some craftsmen construct it from thick fabric and then trim it with beads and crystals.
When performing the lunar sign, the third horn, like the cross, is placed strictly in the center. You can make them in different colors, carefully selecting shades. Each of them has its own specific meaning:
- yellow color protects against the evil eye;
- white - personifies purity of thoughts, protects not only the owner, but also her apartment from evil;
- black – considered a symbol of fertility, brings a good harvest;
- red – protects from negativity, gives health, warmth, positive energy;
- green – attracts money, is the personification of well-being and prosperity;
- blue – denotes masculinity, protects from life’s troubles and ill-wishers.
They begin to work during the waxing moon. You cannot use scissors or tie knots. The main condition is to maintain the correct shape: the horns are lowered down, slightly bent towards the center.
Carrying out the ritual and activating the amulet
When purchasing an amulet, you cannot save money. It is not advisable to boast and trump when choosing him, since evil, boastful people irritate the pagan gods.
The newly acquired talisman must be cleaned. Spring or running water is suitable for this. Lunnitsa is then left under the moonlight for several nights to recharge.
The ritual is performed on a waxing moon close to the full moon. This is the only way it will awaken and make positive changes in the life of its owner. He doesn’t start working right away; he needs a little time to get used to his owner.
How to wear?
There are no strict rules for using the amulet. It does not have to be hidden from prying eyes. For better performance, the amulet is attached to a visible place. Suitable for daily use. Day after day, he gets used to the energy of the owner, which is why his power increases. Only family and trusted friends are allowed to touch the amulet. The rest are not allowed to touch the moon sign.
The Lunnitsa amulet helps to find a way out of a difficult life situation, develop talents, and expand the scope of consciousness. He provides support to girls and women with pure thoughts. The energy of the amulet has the opposite effect if the person is angry and negative thoughts dominate.
Carrying out the ritual and activating the amulet
The ritual must be performed on the new moon, showing the amulet to the new moon.
The moon symbolizes the moon, so this symbol must be charged at night. There are several rituals that will help you attach a talisman to yourself and fill it with strength.
The first, and simplest ritual, allows you to make a powerful protective amulet. To do this, you should go outside on the new moon and show the moon to the new moon. Next you need to pronounce the spell:
“Look, Luna, I have your child. Give him the strength to grow, and protect me at the same time. I will wear it and thank you.”
This ritual should be repeated every new moon. This way the amulet will be charged monthly by the waxing moon and protect its owner.
To achieve female happiness, it is proposed to carry out a multi-stage ritual. It must be started two days before the new moon. The woman should take a bath with relaxing essential oils, cleanse her body and soul, and wear white clothes. You will have to walk in such clothes until the new moon. On this day at midnight you need to go outside, show the moon to the moon and say the following words:
“The bride is good, but there is no groom. Give me, my friend, your advice. Share how to become a good wife so that you can attract and keep your husband. Whisper, dear moon, to my amulet, tell me what to do, give me your advice. “
Then you should bow to the month and go home without looking back. White clothes should be removed and thrown away on the same day, after being heavily soiled. This ritual helps a woman become more attractive in the eyes of men and meet her betrothed. A lunica charged in this way will begin to attract wealth into the house, helping to “keep” the husband.
The meaning of the Lunnitsa tattoo for men
In the mythology of the ancient population of Mesopotamia, the Semites and Sumerians, there is a mention of the Moon God in male guise. Images of the Sumerian god Sin have been discovered - he is an old man with a long beard, and above his head there is a crescent moon with its horns upward. Subsequently, he became the prototype of the sage god, who controlled time and fate. A tattoo of a crescent moon with horns up, like an inverted Moon, on the hand of men can mean control over one’s life. We can say that he holds fate in his hands. This image also resembles the horns of a bull, and the bull in Slavic culture personified power and courage.
Tattoo meaning
The moonflower is a female amulet that helps to find your soul mate and give birth to happy offspring.
A tattoo with a moonflower has a powerful protective effect. It increases feminine power, making the owner of the symbol on the skin softer and more femininely wise. It is recommended to draw up a sketch of the lunar yourself, but you can repeat existing drawings. It is recommended to tattoo a moonflower under the chest on one side, between the breasts or on the upper back and neck. This tattoo is suitable for absolutely all women.
Moon shaped tattoo
Some modern girls prefer to replace the lunula talisman with something more unusual and progressive, namely a tattoo. The application of such tattoos is by no means uncommon. This has been practiced for a long time, and they even determine in advance how exactly the lunula tattoo will affect a person’s life, depending on its location on the body.
A lunula tattoo on the outer or inner thigh is designed to increase the wearer’s sexual energy, helps to be more sensual, and attracts the attention of men.
A tattoo is applied to the forearm or right shoulder to enhance intuition, develop wisdom and management skills.
On the left or right wrist, a lunula tattoo prevents infidelity in the family, drives away various adversities from the family hearth, and helps strengthen it.

There are possible risks and dangers associated with every tattoo because the needles open tiny holes in the skin and deposit a foreign substance, pigment. These risks and hazards include, but are not limited to:
- Possibility of discomfort or pain
- Consistency of marking
- Risk of infection
- Possibility of an allergic reaction to pigment or other materials used
We limit the risk of infection by exceeding the standards set by the Texas Department of State Health Services. We maintain our work environment, our equipment, and use single-use, disposable items. We do not reuse needles, tubing or pigment, all of which are thrown away after each tattoo. All surfaces are covered with barriers that are also thrown away, including our gloves, and everything is wiped down with hospital grade cleaning products every time. These aseptic and sterile tattooing techniques greatly minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
In tattooing, pigment is applied to the skin using a tattoo machine. The machine quickly moves hard needles up and down to pierce the skin. With each puncture, the needles penetrate your skin to a depth of about one millimeter, and the machine deposits pigment into the newly created puncture holes. This method creates your tattoo and also creates an area of your skin that is now technically an open wound.
After your tattoo artist is finished, your body needs to heal your tattoo. Just like any other wound you may have had, there are steps that will help your tattoo heal without infection, and in this case, preventing the tattoo from deviating or changing pigment resulting in the destruction of your artwork.
Proper care of your new tattoo is very important for your health, as well as the quality and longevity of your tattoo. Keep your tattoo clean, limit exposure, and maintain moisture!
Your artist will provide you with instructions on how to care for your tattoo, follow their directions, and contact them if you have any questions. If you need more information, please read our care instructions.

Two types of images of Lunnitsa
The classic image of the Moon, when the moon is turned with its horns downward, carries within itself the feminine principle.
There are two types of symbol:
- two-horned Moon - a normal-looking moon with two horns;
- three-horned Lunnitsa - the month on the inner side in the center has another protrusion.
The image of the three-horned Moon is associated with the mystical number three, which means the cyclical nature of life and three periods of existence: past, present and future. A tattoo in this design has a special protective power. She protects pregnancy, helps during childbirth, protects mother and child from evil glances, envy and witchcraft.
Slavic women's amulet, its meaning, properties and application
Lunnitsa is a strong female amulet, part of the traditional decoration of Slavic women. Wearing the moon symbol had sacred meaning for married women. In shape it resembled a new moon and symbolized the young energy of the night star. The amulet was considered a receptacle of the female spirit and beneficial energies. As a rule, the moon was not used by men, so that the female spirit did not take over their body.
History and meaning of the amulet
This Slavic amulet is found in the earliest archaeological layers. The shape of the moon used in the female amulet is not accidental - it is a symbol of fertility and femininity. Just as the moon grows, so a woman must grow, grow - give birth and bear children. What are the ancients
saw the main task of a woman - the ability to bear and give birth.
The earliest three-horned lunas can be found back in the Bronze Age. Then the craftsmen complicate the production of amulets by decorating them with enamel, filigree or granulation. Of course, only rich women could afford gold or silver, ornate amulets. The Slavs' lunnica is often made of ordinary metal - tin or bronze, and was part of the outfit of any woman belonging to the common class.
The first decorations that were customary to give to a girl were moonlights. They meant that the girl turns into a beautiful woman, and the amulet itself should endow the young lady with wisdom and obedience for further marriage, and become an attractive match for a man.
Patron of the amulet - Lada
- The patroness of the moon, Lada, is the goddess of marriage, family and good relations between husband and wife. She was a caretaker of the house and the atmosphere of well-being in it. Women who were deprived by fate of the ability to continue their race turned their prayers to Lada. Often ribbons were tied to the ritual tree of Lada with a request that the goddess would have mercy and fulfill her plans - everything would work out. The words go well, go well - come from the name of this patron goddess.
This Slavic amulet was supposed to accumulate the energy of the patronizing goddess so that Lada could instruct and in every possible way help a woman manage her household wisely and please her husband. The peace and ingenuity of the owner of the home is an important quality of any good wife.
Of course, the main purpose of the symbol is to give the ability to fertility and reproduction of the human tribe. All ancient peoples considered it a vice, a problem, to be unable to give birth to a child and continue the family line, so the presence of a moonlight in the decoration of a Slav woman was mandatory.
Young and unmarried girls usually wore moonlits in pairs, attached to both sides around the face. Married ladies often wore a moonflower around their necks as a necklace.
How to use an amulet in the modern world
First of all, you need to remember that the lunnitsa amulet is a sublimation of female energy, bringing cuteness, dominating beauty. Wearing a moonlight will definitely attract the attention of energy with a strong masculine principle - which is the main purpose of the amulet. Lada will help ensure that beauty, youth and femininity are characteristic of the owner of the amulet for a long time.
- A gold moon is a symbol of wealth, fertility and the status of the mistress. The radiance of a golden amulet is best used as a decoration for a married woman. Its action will contribute to the development of female wisdom and insight in relationships with her spouse. Of course, the lunar amulet will be a good guarantee of fertility for the spouses and will give them a large number of children.
- Silver is the metal of reason, feelings and love. A lunatic from it will become a good amulet for an unmarried girl, luring a favorable couple to her. The patron goddess will help ensure that fate rewards the owner of the amulet with a good match for family happiness. And silver is the metal that will allow a woman’s mind to make an informed decision, giving her heart to her admirer.
- A simple metal lunar holder is of great importance for the concentration of female energy. Its influence gives a great boost to internal forces for regeneration and activation of rejuvenation processes. In fact, wearing a moonlight can be recommended to any woman in order to maintain her beauty without losing it over the years.
- Lunnitsa with a cross is an amulet of a mixed type. Together with the power of Lada, the energy of the Christian Mother of God is attracted into it. Wearing such an amulet helps to attract mercy for those who are desperate to become pregnant. Mixing symbols is often condemned, but in this case the church does not condemn it. Moreover, the mixture of ancient Slavic symbols and Christian signs was observed throughout the period after the Christianization of the Slavic lands.
Of course, the best use of the moonlight would be to wear it as a pendant or pendant in the chest area. Young and unmarried people can choose a talisman to wear as a couple, as earrings in their ears. But there is one magical nuance that should be taken into account.
Important! Wearing a moonlit in pairs is only permissible for an unmarried girl. For a woman in marriage, a paired amulet can bring unwanted relationships on the side, which will turn into a big disaster for her married life and destroy the marriage.
Advice from magicians and wise men
Since this Slavic amulet has a great influence on a woman’s body and aura, it can be used in magical recipes. You can consider several recipes for using an ancient women's amulet.
The tattoo will attract streams of female wisdom
Tattoos began to be used especially often as a permanent amulet. Applying a pattern to the skin suggests that the amulet will constantly accompany its owner.
- A tattoo on the right shoulder will help concentrate energy flows in the owner’s aura, directing them to the area of the mind. A woman will become wiser, learn to command men and captivate them with her intelligence and insight.
- If you get a tattoo on the thigh, the owner of the sign will significantly increase sexual abilities, shifting the flow of cosmic energies to the pelvic area, attracting male attention, first of all, to herself, as an object of sexual pleasure. This type of tattoo can be recommended to those women who are deprived of sensuality and sexual appetite. After all, fertility is one of the main directions of this amulet.
- A tattoo on the wrist is the key to a happy female destiny. Usually such a drawing is made for good luck, so that the female lot will please and not be overshadowed by adversity, betrayal and a broken heart.
Magic beauty bath
The moon is a magical force capable of working miracles. Among magicians and sorcerers, a bath is widely known, which must be taken on the new moon, and the moon is the main component. The only thing that matters is the night when the thin silver rim of the new month appears in the sky; you need to draw water at midnight and take a relaxing bath.
You need to put a lunar medallion in the water and add a decoction of relaxing herbs. Commonly used are lemon balm, lavender and cinnamon. By taking a beauty bath every new moon, a woman ensures the correct process of regeneration of the body, preserving her youth and attractiveness for a long time.
Important! Very often the thin crescent of the new month is confused with the waning one. Don't confuse the phase of the moon, it is of great importance. If you take a bath on the waning moon, you can cause magical harm to your beauty.

Slavic amulet Lunnitsa - assistant to women
The Lunnitsa amulet is not just a beautiful decoration, it is an ancient symbol with sacred meaning. Our foremothers used jewelry not only to look more attractive. With their help, they attracted certain energies, fulfilled wishes and protected themselves from unkind neighbors or envious girlfriends.
Those who decide to join the traditions of our ancestors should carefully study the properties of the amulet before buying it and using it for their needs. How to choose the Lunnitsa amulet? Who can wear it? Is it allowed to get a tattoo with this symbol? You will find answers to these and other interesting questions in this article.
A little history
The lunar amulet was present in the daily life of many ancient peoples, including the Slavs. Made in slightly different forms, this amulet in all cultures was equally associated with the feminine principle. After all, it was the moon that was associated with secret knowledge, which women were usually so eager to comprehend in order to tell fortunes about love, attract a betrothed, or protect loved ones from future dangers.
The lunar amulet in all cultures was associated with the feminine principle.
Charms similar to the Slavic Lunnitsa were found in Ancient Egypt and among Eastern peoples. The latter usually had a Lunnitsa with wide horns, but in Rus' the Lunnitsa with narrow arches became more widespread. Our ancestors considered this amulet to be a symbol of the goddess Mokosh, who is responsible for human destinies, the harvest and the preservation of the family hearth.
Read more about the goddess Makosh and another popular women's amulet here.
In those days, Lunnitsa, like most other amulets, was mainly worn as decoration. However, quite often it was also found in the form of patterns on women's clothing.
What Lunnitsa looks like
The Slavic amulet Lunnitsa is made in the form of a lunar sickle. But, unlike the celestial body, it directs its horns not to the left, but down. The number of arches of an ancient amulet may vary. In addition, sometimes it was supplemented by another symbol related to a completely different religion - a cross. But at the same time, the version of the image with the arms down always remained unchanged.
According to the beliefs of our ancestors, a lunar amulet must contain special signs. Much more attention was paid to them than to the shape of the amulet itself. Metamorphoses with the form led to a modification of the meaning, and the images on the surface radically changed the meaning contained in the jewelry-amulet.
Among the ancient Slavs, oblique lines on the moon symbolized rain. They associated this natural phenomenon with fertility.
Often the following were depicted on Lunnitsa:
- oblique lines;
- dots;
- Sun and moon;
- three triangles;
- crosses;
Each of these elements had its own meaning:
- The slanting lines meant rain. The ancient Slavs associated this natural phenomenon with fertility.
- The points had several interpretations. The first is grain, and the second is the days of the lunar month.
- The sun and moon symbolized the harmonious interaction of the feminine and masculine principles. A talisman with such symbols was considered stronger than an ordinary Moonlight, filled exclusively with lunar, feminine energy.
- The triangles concealed the main lunar phases. The side ones meant the waning phase of the moon and the new moon, and the triangle in the center represented the full moon, as well as the symbol of the Great Weaver - Mokosh.
- The cross symbolized Christianity. From a logical point of view, such a mixture of religions is not entirely clear. But at a time when paganism and faith in Christ were mixed in the hearts of people, this double amulet was considered a very powerful protector.
The meaning of the amulet
The meaning of the Lunnitsa amulet is easiest to understand by understanding what, according to the Slavs, a woman should have been like.
Their vision was very different from the modern one, where the relationship between the two sexes has changed. Despite the fact that men often continue to be breadwinners and protectors of families, many women work almost equally with them and even master purely male professions. Among the ancient Slavs, a woman was supposed to prolong the family line and take care of the family and home.
While building a career, representatives of the fair sex today often lose sight of caring for the family hearth. The lunar amulet, dedicated to the ancient Slavic goddess Makosh, helps to fill what is missing in a woman who has forgotten about femininity, tenderness and family comfort.
Lunnitsa will help the fair sex to become more feminine, soft, calm and wise.
This amulet helps:
- get pregnant and give birth to a strong, healthy baby;
- feel more energetic while carrying a child;
- reveal feminine qualities in yourself - become softer, calmer and wiser;
- take care of family well-being, maintain an atmosphere of warmth and mutual understanding;
- discover new talents in yourself - creative (handicrafts) or even magical (gift of foresight);
- protect yourself from the negative impact of envious people and energy vampires.
The properties of the Lunnitsa amulet will be best demonstrated if you wear it from childhood. Due to its unformed nature, the girl’s character is more amenable to correction.
Who is the lunar amulet suitable for?
The ancient Slavs gave Lunnitsa as their first amulet to little girls. Such a gift not only served as protection from the evil eye and damage or attacks from evil spirits, but also helped to instill femininity in the girl.
Femininity is a quality that will not be superfluous at any age. It is for this reason that the Lunnitsa amulet can be used by both young girls and mature women.
Lunnitsa is not suitable for men. They should wear amulets that reflect male needs - strengthening willpower, spirit and physical strength, developing endurance and gaining wisdom. All this can be fully provided by solar symbols, as well as signs-attributes of some Slavic gods - for example, Perun.
Lunnitsa remains a women's amulet to this day. But it is important to remember that the idea of the role of women in society before and now are strikingly different.
If, in your opinion, a woman should build a career and stand on an equal footing with a modern man, the Lunnitsa amulet can harm and hinder the achievement of her life goals. For those who feel a critical lack of feminine qualities in their character, Lunnitsa will help them find elegance and gentleness.
Lunnitsa is considered an exclusively female amulet and is not suitable for men.
Wearing such a talisman will also have a positive effect on relationships with men, help you become more attractive and finally attract the one and only one. Relationships with him will develop calmly and harmoniously, giving only positive emotions. Thanks to Lunnitsa, the family will be strong and happy, and no homewreckers will be able to destroy this idyll.
Types of amulet
The women's amulet Lunnitsa was always depicted in the form of a crescent with horns down, but it could be made in several versions.
There are three main types of images of the Moon:
- narrow-horned;
- broad-horned;
- three-horned Moon;
The lunnitsa with narrow horns was often decorated with lines and zigzags, and the wide-horned amulet mainly contained ornaments in the form of plants.
Hair clip with three-horned Luna made of wood.
Among the listed amulet options, the last one had the largest number of interpretations. It is worth mentioning not only the trinity of the world in the Old Slavonic concept, but also the connection between three times and generations of the Family - past, present and future, as well as ancestors and heirs. Another symbolic option is the lunar phases: waning moon, waxing moon and full moon.
A later version of the amulet, which appeared as a result of a mixture of two faiths, became the closed Lunnitsa. This type of amulet has three arms. The two outermost ones seem to be closed in a circle, and the central one is a cross.
Such a mixture of religions is at odds with the opinion of experts about the incompatibility of pagan and Christian ancient symbols. However, there is nothing strange in this, because this modification was born at a time when Christianity began to take precedence over paganism, but the latter had not yet become a thing of the past.
How to wear Lunnitsa
As a rule, the Lunnitsa amulet was worn as body jewelry. Sometimes it was an independent element - for example, a pendant on a cord or earrings. In some cases, the pendant acted as an addition to the main decoration. It was attached to beads or to a belt. There is an opinion that the kokoshnik, which serves as a headdress for girls and women, is also a type of Lunnitsa amulet.
Portrait of a woman in a kokoshnik, artist Orlov Pimen Nikitich.
But the latter option is not at all suitable for modern women, because in our century such headdresses find their use only on the theater stage. It is much more practical to wear Lunnitsa in the form of a pendant on a cord or earrings.
In the old days, this amulet was made from a wide variety of materials:
- wood;
- gland;
- bronze;
- brass;
- tin;
- silver;
- gold;
As you can see, metals clearly predominated among them. The material from which the amulet was purchased or made was influenced not by personal tastes, but by class affiliation. Poorer people chose Lunnitsa made of wood, tin and iron. The rich preferred more refined materials.
You should not save money when purchasing a talisman. But there is no need to show off either - the pagan gods do not like evil and boastful people. Remember that gold will not make the amulet stronger, although it will give it status in appearance.
Lunnitsa is closely related to lunar energy, so silver will be the most suitable basis for it. Since ancient times, this metal has been associated with the night luminary, attributing to it not only the properties of a conductor of lunar energy, but also the ability to ward off evil in all its manifestations.
Once you have purchased the amulet, clean it with salt or spring water, and then leave it to charge for several nights under the moonlight. Perform the activation ritual only on a waxing moon, close to the full moon. This way the amulet will awaken and be able to bring positive changes into your life.
Tattoo in the shape of the moon
The ancient lunar sign can be used not only as a body decoration, but also as a tattoo. The Lunnitsa tattoo will bring only harmony to a woman’s life, and therefore will not be able to harm her, like some male symbols.
A Lunnitsa tattoo on the wrist will help preserve the hearth and create an atmosphere of comfort in the family.
Before you go to the artist and get a tattoo, think about how exactly you want to change your life.
Its effect on a person depends on where the drawing is applied:
- a pattern on the shoulder or forearm will help develop clairvoyance skills;
- A moon on your thigh will enhance your sexual energy, which will help you get more attention from the opposite sex;
- a protective sign on the wrist will help preserve the hearth and create an atmosphere of comfort in the family;
We also recommend paying attention to the gender of the tattoo artist. This is not at all necessary, but if a woman gets the tattoo, this will help to additionally charge the amulet design with feminine energy, enhancing its magical meaning.
