How to distinguish natural amber and how to use it - tips and tricks

  • Originals and fakes - features of real cabochons
  • Beneficial properties of amber - healing the soul and body
  • Amber beads - what do they help with?

Recently, traditional medicine has been increasingly using “folk” methods, because some of them turn out to be much more effective than conventional medicines! And one of these remedies is natural solar gems. Chemical analysis showed that the hardened resin contains many biologically active elements that have a positive effect on the processes occurring in the body. What kind of substances these are, what their mechanism of action is and how to use them - you will learn all this from our article.

BC

Amber is considered the “memory of the Earth.” It was formed millions of years ago to protect the tree from harmful microorganisms. Therefore, the “healing spirit” is inherent in it from the moment of its inception. Bacteria and microbes were trapped inside the stone, allowing modern scientists to study them today.

Sunstone balances on the edge of the living and dead world. Amber cells contain hydrogen, oxygen and carbon. The only thing missing is nitrogen to become a fully living organism.

This composition classifies it as an amorphous polymer. In the article “Who is amber stone suitable for and its properties” you will find all the details.

Unprocessed amber was even found in caves of people who lived during the Neolithic period (4000-1600 years before our era). Due to the property of the stone to burn and emit a pleasant aroma, primitive people intuitively used it as a bactericidal agent.

The difference between stones and plastics

Kinds

In the 18th century, craftsmen first began to counterfeit amber with plastic materials.

Plastic fake weighs little, has a uniform structure and uniform color. Today, craftsmen use nitrocellulose, galalite, casein, urea resins, epoxy resins, polystyrene and polystyrene-like polymers.

But the most common are acrylic, bakelite, celluloid, and glass.

Acrylic

A common material for counterfeiting is acrylic. Fraudsters often sell it through online sites. The seller processes the photographs with color correction, so the appearance of the stone cannot be distinguished from a fake. But upon closer examination, the unnaturally bright color and perfect surface are noticeable.

Bakelite

Fraudsters call Bakelite African amber. But this is plastic material. Unlike real stone, it reacts to solvent.

If you shine a flashlight, co-directional fibers will be visible.

Celluloid

In the 19th century, craftsmen used this material as a cheap substitute for ivory. It differs from natural stone in its bright color and obvious structural defects.

Glass

Unscrupulous jewelers also pass off ordinary glass as amber. The main difference from real stone is weight. Even a small glass bracelet weighs down your hand significantly. Unlike amber, glass does not melt or scratch.

Medical facts

Intuition prompted

The first attempts to process amber began 9 thousand years ago. The tools were primitive, and man was not as skilled in the craft as he is now. However, even slightly polished stones, which became somewhat more beautiful than nuggets, were valued higher than gold.

Scientists historians associate the fact with a developed sense of intuition, which made it possible to sense substances beneficial to health. Modern doctors have proven that the stone owes its positive bioenergy to the presence of succinic acid. It was in her that people saw the elixir of immortality.

Hellas recognized

The first records of the miraculous properties of sunstone in medicine belong to Hippocrates himself. Amber already in 460 BC. e. massages were performed, powder crushed into dust was applied to wounds on the skin, and headaches were treated with smoke.

Persia: Book of Healings

In the 11th century, the great Persian physician Ibn Sina (Avicenna) compiled the “Book of Healing.” It describes the benefits of amber and gives 50 recipes using it, from treating cracks in the fingers to internal organs. These recommendations of the ancient healer are still used by doctors.

Amber nugget

Johann Aurifaber (German researcher and preacher) in the 16th century published a monograph on amber, where he gives 46 recipes using it. The ambergris stone (French name) was carried with him by his close friend Martin Luther. He suffered from urolithiasis. And amber prevents the formation of kidney stones. And this fact was confirmed by professors of medicine of the 20th century.

The immune system

It is a fact that there were no deaths among the “amber workers” in the Polish city of Gdansk in the 18th century, when the plague was raging in the region. This proves that amber stone has a positive effect on the immune system.

Among different peoples

Every nation saw special properties in amber. The ancient Greeks noted the ability to attract small pieces of papyrus and called the stone “electron”. The Romans believed that it was fossilized “sucous”, that is, plant juice with all the beneficial properties. The Latvian name “dzyntars” literally translates as “defender against disease.”

Slavic legends mention the “white-flammable stone Alatyr, which stands on the ocean sea.” This name is related to the word “amber”. And the ancient story tells about an unknown power hidden in the stone, which has no end.

Scientists have established that the fabulous island is located in the Baltic Sea. Now called Rügen and belongs to Germany. Until the 14th century it was called Ruyan, and the Baltic Slavs lived there. Unprocessed amber, which the Ruyans found in large quantities, was considered the main wealth of the country. The stone was used to treat skin wounds, diseases of the liver, kidneys, lungs, and facilitate childbirth.

Creates a special microclimate

Let's look at the healing properties of amber and who can benefit from wearing this stone in detail. Professors of medicine say that “this is a trainable thing that clearly perceives the human body.”

When interacting with a living creature, amber helps it in those problem areas that need help. Thanks to its electrostaticity and aroma, resinous stone creates a special microclimate in its own environment.

Amber provides bactericidal properties to the entire space around it. Special amber rooms, created in Moscow and other cities, are filled with a scattering of amber nuggets on the floor, and after 30 minutes of walking through them, the patient emerges refreshed and calm.

In these special rooms you can relieve stress, nervous disorders and regain lost energy. Modern amber rooms effectively treat patients, while simultaneously correcting the human energy field.

Amber - description of the stone

The solar gem was formed due to the hardening of the resin of ancient coniferous trees. This type of natural mineral is not crystalline and has an amorphous structure. Today there are several varieties of transparent, translucent and cloudy amber, which have different shades: from white to brown-red. Its hardness reaches a maximum of 4. In turn, the density can range from 0.98 to 1.11.

You can purchase products with gems in St. Petersburg on the website of the Mineral Market online store. Waiting for discoveries

As stated above, the positive properties of amber are due to the presence of bioenergy. Human immunity is corrected under the influence of electrostatic voltage. This is the physiotherapeutic effect of the stone. We are talking about the effect of electric fields on human skin.

This effect has been used in physiotherapy since the 19th century and is called the “electrofrivial shower.” A simpler method is to put, for example, amber beads in a pillow and sleep on them. Thus, with the help of the healing properties of the stone, you can normalize blood pressure and get rid of insomnia.

But the most precious thing in amber is succinic acid. Skin cells need it so that all beneficial reactions in the body occur without interruption. Modern scientists believe that the world is still waiting for interesting discoveries that are associated with the positive effects of amber on humans.

Lemon flavor in succinic acid

Medical research of the 21st century has scientifically confirmed the beneficial properties of amber. The stone contains impurities of the following elements of the periodic table:

  • Ca (calcium);
  • Mg (magnesium);
  • K (potassium);
  • Si (silicon);
  • Fe (iron).

In combination with succinic acid, they are able to normalize intestinal function, calm the nervous system and the genitourinary system. In this “work” the stone is helped by various trace elements and the gases mentioned above.

Succinic acid looks like a white crystalline powder and tastes like lemon. This substance is used in the preparation of tablets and liquid medications. It was first isolated from amber in the 17th century. But today, of course, no one will do this on an industrial scale. Modern production is based on obtaining the product from other organic compounds.

Solar gems are an inexhaustible source of energy

The beneficial properties of amber are studied not only by medicine and pharmacology - it is no less in demand in esoteric practices. Charms made of radiant stones were found in the dwellings of Upper Paleolithic people (40-12 thousand years ago). By the way, one of these parking lots is located in the village. Mezhirichi (Dnieper region, Ukraine).

Products made from hardened resin give the owner inspiration, charisma, self-confidence, optimism and the ability to insist on one’s own. In addition, they develop intuition, give equanimity and peace. With such talismans, you will achieve success in any endeavor, find good luck and enlist the support of higher powers. And if you store pieces of natural amber in your home, your home will be reliably protected from ill-wishers, envious people, evil forces and natural disasters.

Gemstone jewelry is a traditional accessory for pregnant women and nursing mothers - they facilitate pregnancy, allow faster recovery after childbirth, and promote abundant lactation. And in ancient times, such things were also put on children - it was believed that with them the child would be healthy, beautiful and strong.

Who is amber suitable for? Almost all zodiac signs are astrologically compatible with it. Thus, precious stones best influence representatives of the fire element - Leo, Aries and Sagittarius, strengthening them and cleansing them of negative influences. Those born under the “airy” stars of Libra, Aquarius and Gemini will receive creative impulse and strength to implement their plans from solar gems. By trying on a thing made of frozen resin, “water” signs (Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio) will be able to become calmer and more balanced. But for “earthly” symbols, and especially Taurus, shining cabochons are contraindicated.

And our online store “Yantar Polesya” will help you purchase natural gems of any shade, size and texture. Here you will find magnificent accessories made of polished cabochons, colorful jewelry made of polished stones, and stylish interior souvenirs - paintings, icons, candlesticks, clocks, table figurines.

The influence of processing on the properties of amber

Unprocessed amber is able to protect the body from the effects of aggressive free radicals, that is, it has antioxidant properties. The presence of amber jewelry next to the skin slows down its aging. These and other qualities are preserved even after stone processing.

Cutting and grinding in a tumbling drum with abrasive particles affects only the outer layer of amber. Therefore, its effect changes slightly.

There can be no talk about the medicinal properties of fakes or products pressed from amber crumbs and dust. There is nothing here from the multimillion-dollar energy of the Earth, and accordingly, there is no benefit of the stone for the body.

Doctors believe that dark pieces of amber are more powerful in healing than light ones. This is due to the large number (100 times) of paramagnetic centers. Read about other differences in the article “Types and colors of amber.”

The healing properties of amber

During the processing process, amber is polished, as a result of which it loses a large number of useful properties. Therefore, it is worth buying unpolished amber for treatment. The main diseases it is believed to affect are heart, lung and thyroid problems.

Healing bracelet made of raw amber

Amber helps to get rid of joint pain and alleviate rheumatism and arthritis. To do this, in the places where it is mined, for example, in the Kaliningrad region, you can buy small pieces and chips of the mineral. They are heated, poured into a fabric bag and applied to the sore spot. They can also be used as compresses.

In many pharmacies you can now buy ready-made products. For example, amber ointment, acid or other medicinal products made from amber. A belt made of amber plates is in great demand. It is used as a remedy in the fight against radiculitis and treatment of knee pain.

The mechanism of action is as follows. When the unpolished stone comes into contact with the skin, it saturates it with a special acid called succinic acid, which is a nonspecific biostimulant. When the stone heats up, it releases other substances that are very beneficial to the body. Their number directly depends on the deposit. They can help cope with depression or provide prevention, as they have the property of stimulating the nervous system.

At home, using this mineral you can solve the following health problems:

  • Relieve inflammatory processes. It is the secreted succinic acid that has these properties; it penetrates inside the body and finds the problem area, actively affecting it.
  • Due to the fact that one of the substances released is iodine, amber can be used to eliminate thyroid problems associated with its deficiency.
  • Restore biofields. Unpolished amber has an inexplicable, but nevertheless proven effect on energy. He is able to relieve depression and bring joy back to life.
  • Cleanse the body. Amber can have a destructive effect on harmful bacteria and helps remove toxins from the body. It is believed that it acts like a sorbent and is capable of removing radioactive isotopes from the body. All these qualities are nonspecific prevention of the development of cancer.

Tumors and inflammation

The therapeutic effect of amber is manifested in the fight against tumors. Women's diseases are subject to it - fibroids, mastopathy and ovarian cysts. Physiotherapeutic properties slow down the growth of tumors and promote resorption. The stone also affects the thyroid gland (goiter) and fatty tissues.

The list of diseases for which amber is used continues:

  • nervous disorders;
  • headaches, including migraines;
  • urinary incontinence.

Under the influence of amber energy, the manifestations inherent in these pathologies are removed. The action occurs due to the outflow of accumulated fluid in the ventricles of the brain. Hypertensive patients also experience relief.

Applications of amber on the skin at points of the body that are responsible for the bronchi help in the treatment of inflammatory processes (sore throat, tonsillitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma).

Amber beads

Amber beads used to be very popular among women. They were valued not only for their beauty and grace, but were used in the fight against many diseases and in preventing their development. Why were beads especially valuable?

The fact is that in the neck area there are a large number of organs, most of which play a vital role in the human body. Namely: arteries supplying the brain, thyroid gland, spine and spinal cord. For example, a disease such as osteochondrosis of the cervical spine can cause a lot of harm precisely because of its location in the neck. The thyroid gland also influences many vital processes. It is not only responsible for metabolism, but also regulates all processes in the body with the help of hormones.

If there are no serious diseases, then medicinal beads made from unprocessed amber should be purchased in small sizes. The size of one bead can reach the size of a small pea. If the problems are more serious, then larger beads will be needed. But in any case, it is believed that their size should be increased gradually, starting from small ones. You can wear them all the time, and this is even preferable. In order to enhance the effect, the amber itself should be located close to the neck, and therefore the length of the jewelry should be short.

Interaction with blood

The sun stone is designed to help treat infertility in women. Physiotherapy increases general immunity and relieves inflammation of the pelvic organs, which affects the fight against adnexitis and obstruction of the fallopian tubes. The pronounced anti-inflammatory effect of amber slows down the development of liver cirrhosis and hepatitis.

The tangible benefits of amber are observed in cases of pyelonephritis and stones in the kidneys or gall bladder. The constant interaction of the patient with an unusual medicine helps to dissolve foreign formations, crush them and remove them from the body.

By activating blood circulation, amber heals joints, helping to remove accumulated salt deposits. Stimulating the functioning of valves and improving the outflow of stagnant blood in varicose veins is another area of the healing intervention of the stone.

The Legend of Pear Ripening

There is an amazing legend about amber. One day, the ruler of a rich eastern country wanted to taste ripe pears. And the harvest season had not yet begun; the fruits were completely green hanging on the trees. But the capricious ruler did not want to hear any explanations.

The unfortunate gardener prayed all night over a tray of unripe pears. At the same time, he fingered amber rosaries in his hands, and raw amber was smoking next to him, emitting a resinous aroma. By morning the fruits were ripe.

This fantastic story forced modern scientists to conduct a similar experiment. The green fruits needed 12 hours of “communication” with burning amber for accelerated ripening. The property was explained by the action of the released ethylene.

How to distinguish natural amber from artificial

The level of modern technology allows you to imitate any natural stones - even such complex and beautiful ones as amber sunstone. The quality of synthetic materials today can deceive anyone. Artificial amber can be stunningly beautiful - transparent, sunny-honey, even with some kind of bug or spider inside! And in some cases, distinguishing such an imitation specimen from a natural mineral is quite difficult.

Artificial amber is made from glass, modern types of plastic, as well as synthetic and natural resin.

How to determine natural or artificial amber?

Typical methods for testing amber:

  1. Place your amber in a glass of salt water (3 teaspoons of salt). Glass or plastic epoxy resin amber will sink immediately. But natural amber will float - its specific gravity is less than that of salt water.
  2. Apply acetone to the surface of the stone. There will be no trace left on natural amber. But on the artificial sample, melting, color change, etc. will appear.
  3. Under strong mechanical stress, natural amber can only crumble - it is impossible to scratch it.
  4. Apply a very heated metal object, such as a needle, to the non-face side of the stone. The artificial material will immediately reveal itself to have a pungent and unpleasant odor. Natural amber always smells exceptionally pleasant - like pine, rosin or church incense. Or it might not smell like anything at all.
  5. Low cost is a clear sign of a fake. Natural amber simply cannot be cheap.
  6. Insects or plants included in amber do not always confirm the authenticity of the mineral. They learned how to make amber with inclusions a very long time ago. Take a closer look at the insect. The wings of the insects of the Jurassic period were straightened and open - slowly getting stuck in the resin, they tried to get out of it. Insects in plastic and glass do not look as alive, since they are filled with resin in a non-living form.

Artificial amber made from resin Very often, fake amber is made from inexpensive, low-grade types of resin. Their presence is quite easy to determine. Firstly, they don’t smell so strongly of pine and forest. Secondly, they are easy and simple to scratch. But you will not be able to scratch natural amber, which has lain in the depths of the Earth for millions of years. Thirdly, they have a heterogeneous structure. If you have a magnifying glass handy, you can also determine the origin of your amber. The natural mineral has a uniform structure throughout its entire thickness. But in artificial pebbles you will find wavy layered formations that are obtained during its rapid production.

It’s another matter if artificial amber was made from a hard type of resin called “copal”. It will be quite difficult to distinguish such a stone from a natural one. In addition, it will also be difficult to navigate the price - copal is so similar to amber that their prices are often the same. Amber copals are found on the south-eastern coast of Africa - these are either grains or plates of sunny-honey or tea-colored resin, transparent and clean, covered with a crust on top, which is removed during processing. But on the West African coast, copals are found in the form of small symmetrical balls.

So, dug is almost as hard as amber. How to distinguish them? Copal, unlike amber, melts faster and easier. You can check this at home: carefully place a piece of amber with one side on a hot frying pan, and it will immediately begin to emit a smell. So, natural amber exudes a clove-like aroma. But copal will smell strongly and unpleasantly of medicine. Another distinctive feature of copal is the many cracks on its surface.

A very important criterion for differentiation is electrical properties. Natural amber is an excellent natural dielectric. When rubbed, amber becomes highly electrified and retains a negative electrical charge on its surface. Due to its unique electrical properties, amber is widely used in the treatment of various diseases. Read more: The healing properties of amber.

Copal does not have the electrical properties of amber. At the same time, it really looks like natural amber. It is used in making jewelry, and also for cutting out small items - boxes, key rings, etc. In addition to copal, other amber-like types of resins, such as dammar and cowrie, are also used in the production of artificial amber. Samples of artificial amber can be impeccably beautiful, but you should never forget that the true age of natural amber is not even millions, but hundreds of millions of years! It is impossible to imagine how valuable natural amber is, and to be even more precise, it is simply priceless! The energy of amber is so powerful that comparing it with modern wood resins, and even more so with synthetic materials, is pointless. Natural amber is, without any exaggeration, a Universal category. Find out more: Amber stone.

Artificial amber solves exclusively aesthetic problems. At the same time, fakes made of resin practically cannot be called synthetics, since resin is still a natural material. Copal is generally considered “young amber” and can be several hundred or even thousands of years old. Jewelers consider it “low grade amber.”

Modern resin is extracted from various trees and shrubs. For example, dammar resin is prepared from plants growing in the East Indian islands - Borneo, Java, Sumatra, etc. Kauri resin is extracted from the kauri coniferous trees that grow in New Zealand. All artificial ambers made from modern types of resins are tested using the same methods listed above.

Pressed amber

Another way to fake amber is the so-called pressed amber (ambroid), which they learned to make at the end of the 19th century. Small amber chips are pressed under a hydraulic press without oxygen at a temperature of 200-250° C. Externally, pressed amber is very similar to a natural mineral, but you can still distinguish it. The imitation will be revealed by uneven coloring. Parts of ambroid can differ sharply from each other in color, while the color transitions are very sharp and have a clear geometric shape. The contrasting pieces are very reminiscent of a traditional patchwork quilt. A particularly characteristic feature is a sharp transition from the matte part to the transparent part. Whereas the color of natural amber changes very smoothly, without any lines or color boundaries.

Progress does not stand still. Modern methods of simulating gems are constantly being improved. So they learned how to color pressed amber. With the help of powerful dyes, the overall palette of multi-colored pieces of ambroid is leveled into a uniform shade. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish pressed amber using simple methods.

The natural mineral has a wide range of colors - honey, reddish brown, dark brown, cherry color. At the same time, it is distinguished by natural transparency.

Pressed amber is noticeably more cloudy and is practically never transparent (except for small areas). And most importantly, it does not have the unique ability of natural amber to play with shades of light.

If you carefully examine the ambroid, you can see another obvious sign - elongated air bubbles. Natural amber also contains air bubbles, but they always have a perfect spherical shape.

Thanks to modern technology, today there are many ways to make ambroids. Regardless of the method, only natural amber chips and amber dust are used. Many people do not consider ambroid to be artificial amber and a fake, and classify it as low quality amber. However, it is worth considering that after industrial processing the energy structure of the mineral also changes, which is extremely important if the product is planned to be used for medicinal purposes.

Artificial amber from other materials Artificial amber can be made from glass. To determine the origin of such a specimen, run a copper needle along its surface. There will be no trace left on the glass sample, but a barely noticeable stripe will appear on the natural solar stone.

To prevent damage to the surface of natural amber, use the simplest test method: immerse the stone in a salty solution (300 g of water / 50 g of salt). The glass will certainly sink.

The plastic imitation of amber will have to be scratched to get to the bottom of the truth. Artificial amber is made from bakelite, bernat, etc. Plastic forms chips under mechanical stress. Natural mineral crumbles. In addition, if you try to influence the surface with the flame of a simple lighter, the plastic will instantly begin to melt and char, emitting an unpleasant synthetic odor.

Refined amber Refined amber also has its own distinctive features.

Amber has been refined for a very, very long time. To improve its aesthetic properties, they do everything they can with it - to give it a beautiful reddish tint, it is boiled in honey. To make it lighter, it is boiled in vegetable oil, adding organic dyes. After boiling, a characteristic network of small cracks appears on its surface.

Sparkling amber is natural or pressed amber that has undergone thorough heat treatment at a temperature of 220 ° C. On the surface of sparkling amber you can find small fan-shaped cracks, which create an additional magnificent play of light and shade. This type of refined amber is quite highly valued in the jewelry market.

It should be noted that natural stone that has undergone heat treatment invariably loses some of its healing properties and quickly loses its aesthetic properties with constant use.

Special and non-standard verification methods

High-quality fake amber is very difficult to distinguish visually, and you always don’t want to spoil any sample. In these cases, professional methods are used. One of these is ultraviolet rays (medical equipment).

If we examine natural amber under ultraviolet light, it will glow with a divinely beautiful blue tint and other colors. Copal and ambroid are cast only in a milky white color. Synthetic ambers do not glow under ultraviolet rays.

Particularly sensitive people and psychics determine the authenticity of amber simply by holding the stone in their hands: powerful energy emanates from the natural mineral, which is felt as a barely noticeable warmth and a slight tingling sensation. An ordinary person can also feel something - synthetic materials, once in your hands, will immediately seem unpleasantly cold to you, and will heat up for quite a long time.

Amber face powder

Women at all times have dreamed of preserving the beauty of their skin for many years. And already in ancient times, perfumers learned to grind amber stone into powder. Medieval cosmetologists added the powder to face creams and tinctures. The natural material maintains the elasticity of the muscles on the face and neck, rejuvenating the appearance by reducing the depth of wrinkles.

Amber powder lightens age spots and freckles, reduces the brightness of spider veins, and treats acne. Application is simple: powder the face, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and rinse with cool water. You need to repeat it 1 to 3 times a week, depending on your skin type. You need to finish the procedure by applying a moisturizer.

Miracle recipes

Amber powder also treats periodontal disease – bleeding gums. The recipe involves adding powder (1 g) to the toothpaste that a person uses daily. Regular massage of the gums by rubbing the powder with your finger is also allowed.

A special tincture is prepared to heal stomach ulcers. 25 g of amber powder are diluted in 1 liter of water. After settling for 10-12 days, the medicine is ready. Take it 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day. The same recipe is suitable for treating duodenal ulcers.

To reduce hemorrhoids, special suppositories are prepared. Mix amber powder, honey and olive oil in equal quantities. Heat the mixture in a water bath and cool. When the mass becomes thick, form pointed “sticks” and put in the refrigerator. Apply at night.

Amber tincture

Amber tincture is not as popular as beads, because few people know about it. But in vain, such a tincture has truly wonderful properties, it saturates the body with energy and gives a person many years of life. In order to prepare it, you need to know the following recipe.

Take a 0.5 liter dark glass bottle. Put 15 pieces of amber there and pour vodka. Then leave all this in a dark, cool place for a month. A dessert spoon of this tincture is taken before each meal. After it ends, it will be necessary to prepare it again so that after a month or two the treatment can be repeated. Amber pieces can be reused, but not very many times.

Peeling and massage

Subcutaneous mites are treated by applying amber powder to the face. They also rub it on insect bites to relieve itching.

Rubbing amber powder into the skin during a massage is the best procedure for restoring skin tone. Rubbing is done not only with your hands, but also with a special brush for 15-20 minutes. You need to wash off the amber powder in the shower, alternating hot and cold water. The temperature contrast enhances the resulting peeling effect. Dead skin cells are easily removed from the surface of the body.

Amber powder also benefits hair, stimulating its growth. To prevent your hair from splitting and to grow strong and healthy, you need to rub the powdered stone into the roots, lightly massaging the growth follicles. Wash off after 10-15 minutes using your usual shampoo.

Fragrant amber oil

Raw amber is an excellent source of oil. Fragrant stone smells like pine needles. Athletes rub amber oil on their muscles to warm up and be ready for stress. It is also useful for injuries. Rubbing the skin helps stimulate blood circulation, which will speed up the healing of bruises.

An important property of amber oil is its ability to relieve pain when arthritis and osteochondrosis worsen. Massaging it in the lower back, chest and neck helps.

Compresses on affected varicose veins relieve inflammation. And inhalations with amber oil (3-4 drops per glass of water) treat colds of the throat and nose.

A few drops of amber oil added to any cosmetic mask makes the skin fresh and elastic.

Basic properties

The unique healing qualities of amber are given by the succinic acid it contains in large quantities (3% - 9%), known for its bactericidal and disinfectant properties. They are especially pronounced in untreated stone. Natural unprocessed amber is characterized by:

  • its density is almost equal to that of sea water, so it does not sink in salt water;
  • it feels warm to the touch, instantly warming up in your hands;
  • has the property of becoming electrified by friction;
  • flammable, when burning the smoke smells like pine needles;
  • easy to process;
  • direct sunlight causes its color to change to a darker and more opaque color.

The largest amber deposit is located in the Kaliningrad region. A mineral processing plant is located next to it. But for medicinal needs, it is the untreated stone that is more suitable. Besides, it costs less.
